Great fun to watch. So glad I saw you use the ShopSmith 12” sanding disc to take the sound hole bite out of the whistle before I fiddled around with something else with my SS standing right in front of me. Great project, thanks.

What size drill bit did you drill that with

Nice video, what size did you drill out the main body? Does it make a difference if smaller ? Would like to make a couple for my grandsons

+Peter Sucksmith thank you. I used a 3/8 poket hole bit. It will get the msin body and the hole for the bottom. I would make one any smaller than these. They have a pretty high pitch to them due to the small chamber. The size really shouldnt make much of a difference as far as them working as long as you cut the notch and the mouthpiece insert right.

The pitch is almost entirely determined by the length. I'm really not enough of an expert to say what influence the diameter of the hole has, but as long as it makes a sound, it will be the same pitch as any other flute with the same lenght.

Too much of what you are doing regards the assembly of the whistle cannot be seen on the video, it bdissapears off the bottom, if you're going to show us how to make a whistle don't hide the details.
