Thank you for this reminder. We now have a 4 week old baby girl added to our family. With the lack of sleep and as adjustment for us all I have sadly fallen into the snappy and mean voice with our six year old. Before this it was her and I and I have been blessed to be home with the her all these years. Our bond was amazing. This has taken a hit to our relationship and her behavior and she is definitely a mirror of my off behavior. I watched this video this morning and have been kind and gentle voiced for the day. Thank you Jady. It has created the best environment for my daughter, myself, my husband and our new baby girl. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

Thank you so much for this wonderful lesson and reminder. You said it all in a very easy to understand way. I’m now trying to get out of the phone addiction related overwhelm. I realize now that I’ve been using my phone as an excuse to “avoid the kids stressing me out” but I’m really just being lazy with my own parenting and wanting to get easy dopamine hits from social media than from the progress of working patiently with my children. Realizing this makes me realize I have some character flaws and it’s really left me grossed out with my own behavior because I call out other parents when they are being selfish or lazy when I still do that myself. It’s only caused me and the kids stress. So I’m logging off for today, thank you 🙏

Jady, this video was eye opening. I have said every single thing you did in scenario #1. I was raised by a "yeller" and so I am very aware of keeping my composure enough to not yell. By watching this video I now see that speaking in a harsh tone can do just as much damage as yelling. Thank you so much for bringing this to light and I am now trying to keep both yelling and speaking in a harsh tone out of my parenting.

Thank you for encouraging and sharing wisdom for other mommas! I was raised in a home that used harsh town disappoint and would shame you for making mistakes. I knew I wanted to be better but for lack of knowledge of what was better I would fall into the same style of parenting as I was raised it. Many thanks to you for opening my eyes to general parenting based off of a good foundation on relationship! I’m so grateful for your beautiful spirit!

This is such a good video! I think as busy moms, we sometimes forget about the importance of our voices to our kids. Thanks, Jady, for reminding us.

Wow I’m definitely harsh 😔 just this morning we were running late and my son was walking too slow for my liking and I nudged his backpack slightly but in a rude way. I wish I can take it back I feel so bad 😭 And it was even my fault we were running late, wow! I’m definitely a highly stressed and overwhelmed single parent, but going to try the sweet tone ☺️ right this moment. Thanks!

I tore up reading this, we all do this at times and to hear my son correct me, not to be unkind or be a bully. Hearing that, made me make the change with how I respond when I'm stressing or overwhelmed. Punctuality helps to keep stress away as well, so I start with that. Each day, each moment is a blessing to have with our children.

I want to be better, but it is so hard. My daughter doesn’t listen until I’m yelling, which then reinforces my behavior. She is crazy sometimes and there isn’t always a clear natural/logical consequence for her behavior, or I feel like the consequence would unintentionally punish my son. I am still trying though. I know that yelling and talking down to them is not the answer. Do you have any tips on how to get husband on board with this though? Sometimes his tone is almost one of disgust. I’m so shocked that I don’t know what to say sometimes.

Thank you so much for this video. I am well aware I speak harsh to my children. I start off with the gentle voice, get down on their level and when they don’t listen I yell or get harsh. I have found when I take the time to be more present and intentional, they listen well. Have you struggled being harsh with your children? I’m just curious if you learned this from experience and regret, or if you’ve always just been a sweet patient soul 🤍 you’re a huge blessing. I hear myself and I instantly regret my words. Praying the Holy Spirit leads and guides my tongue.

Lord forgive me for neglecting the way that You tell us to treat our children. You tell them to obey us, but then You tell us not to provoke them. Help me to turn it around for the precious ones You have entrusted me with. Ultimately they are Yours.

Thank you for this reminder. I always try to remember how I used to feel as a child so I don’t make the same mistakes my parents made when raising me. I try to use the sweet low voice all the time, but sometimes I catch myself using the harsh tone. When this happens I apologize to my child and explain that I’m not frustrated with her. It’s good to get these reminders though. We wouldn’t talk to a friend, neighbor, or coworker in harsh tones, so why would we talk to a child like this. It’s never acceptable to be mean to a child. We have to guide and love and be the unfailing support our children need to thrive. Thanks Jady 💜

Thank you for this. I definitely use a "nice tone" most of the time, but sometimes I will use what some people call the "mom voice." Such as when you got the slinky... I probably would have said, "alright, the slinky is distracting you; hand it over" in a more disapproving tone. I could probably get a much more positive reaction and better results overall if I just kept the nice tone and asked for it as you did... so again thank you for this. 💜💕

Im guilty of this. I tend to be harsh in voice whenever I feed my 4yr old boy, i hate it when my anger gets over the situation. My son used to hold his food in his mouth for about 30mins. We always have a meal for about 1.30 to 2 hrs ans thats too long. My patience loses and I get to be hard to my son... my problem is my son holding up his food in the mouth and he doesnt want to eat on his own, and he wants me to feed him. I hope he could, by now, feed himself and swallow the food quickly so that his meal would only take 15 to 30 mins.

My son honestly would laugh at me, I don't know if it's because I'm mommy?! He thinks it's a joke, he thinks it's boring, he's going next year.
Unfortunately I can't do it and I'm holding him back.
Thank you for everything and sharing❤️ Dad is the more aggressor, mom is the good cop but dad's at work.
That's what I'm afraid of, I want my son to succeed in life, not like me being a bakery manager and that's why I get angry, even though I'm the good cop I yell.
I know he can do it 👊
