The best interview with a "musical artist" I have ever seen. Kimbra's distinctive and precise explanation of her construction and process of her creating her music is startling almost frightening in the exactness of her knowledge and clarity of purpose. This interview brings to life the science behind the passions expressed in Kimbra's vocals and music. Amazing...thank you!
This is the first interview I watched with her, and I agree. I love the way her mind works and how she articulates her thoughts, not just regarding word choice but also intonation, pauses/timing, facial expressions etc. I relate to what she said in this interview 100%.
I was deployed overseas when "Somebody that I used to know" came out, so I missed about a year's worth of new music. I literally found Kimbra this week and have been fascinated. I guess I fall into the realm of the "prog rock dad". I started listening to music in the 80s and Genesis' "Invisible Touch" and Peter Gabriel's "So" were two of my first albums. I am blown away by her ability to articulate exactly what she wants to convey, not only in her music, but in an interview. It's like watching someone with the passion of a young artist, but the poise of a music professor. She came across as a complete professional. Oh yeah, and she has a great voice!
21:47 Which art exhibition in Mexico is she talking about? I *really* want to know! Because this is such a powerful quote: *"When you deconstruct art and you put it back together in a new format, it gains a new meaning in the reassembling of the abstract parts."*
I will commit myself to make more people listen to you. Thank you for brining authenticity to Music and to the world!!! Im really excited about seeing you on stage this year!!!!
I enjoyed this interview a lot! It's really interesting to see into a process that obviously has a lot of thought and care put into it, even when that process is not something that I can fully grasp.
How is this woman not married? She is beautiful inside and out and has amazing taste and is musically gifted and super down to earth. I would love to just pick her brian for 30 minutes. Great interview. Her live jazz vocal performance was very captivating.
She's gorgeous but she doesn't use her sexuality to sell music. She creates art.Much depends on the content of the song.I love that she is so articulate about her sound.
If she's into Pokemon too... Mew and Volbeat maybe? maybe there's another Pokemon that's also a band. More on topic, indeed it's hard not to smile hard when a great artist mentions another favorite. But I wouldn't go that far, so quickly... maybe if we agreed on at least 10+ others I'd gladly volunteer 🤭 Fun (ridiculous) fact, last night I read a comment by someone who basically dissed her current looks ...I mean, oookaaaay. But I get the feeling these ppl are usually the kind of ppl who make it their profession to hate on the likes of Taylor Swift etc (not that such great minds don't underestimate male artists or whole bands but the belittlement of some women is even stronger, and different). Guess these were off topic too, I'mma cut it right here now... Oh, right, almost forgot... obviously(?) I was curious about which songs (or albums) you'd suggest by Mew... I only know a couple of them, the first being Comforting Sounds of course (thanks to that Birdy album). I should probably start listening to full albums again or check out some list of tracks and spot an interesting song title and go from there but I'm afraid I'll need a less time-consuming method for the time being. So much to (re-)discover and many cool artists to give more attention to. Took a long break from that activity and only now am I getting used to it again. I still can't pick just 1-2 artists to "study" though, UA-cam keeps tempting me to check out countless songs etc. So I'd appreciate a recommendation :D cheers
Her accent is morphing into american more and more. Kinda sad to think a human that is all about their voice, starts losing "their voice". It's almost like soul corruption.
16:48 A tip for anyone going through this…redirect…begin to pray for that person every time you think of them and pray for your feelings and emotions. Give it all to God. Trust me, the intention of all of these thoughts and emotions is to distract and destruct you but when you turn your heart towards God, this is Gods heart for you and the other person during this challenging time ❤
Probably not good to space out and be one that understands why another would, having another fall in love with you for that reason (understanding why they space out not really understanding anything).
Imagining a playlist custom made for you by Kimbra.....for the purpose of helping you better understand something deep and complex she had been sharing with you.......
Women and minorities? Producing music isnt something you decide to do Kimbra, you know that. Its an intimate calling no matter what gender or race you are. Go on and force diversity and you will destroy music. You cant learn to produce music like its a job. Its a love with benifits...sometimes lucrative benefits.
Chucky Kim is one of the world’s best music interviewers. What a fantastic time capsule this will be. Kimbra is thoughtful and sensitive as always.
Kimba is honestly out of this world. i love everything of her!

Great interview. Kimbra is so refreshing.
Her voice is absolutely mesmerizing. A real siren..

She is So CooL! -Interviewer is so chill and genuine
Such a lovely person, seemingly
Okay so now I'm not just in love with her music and mostly with her voice... How is she so smart and so clever, im totally in love with her 🤯
She’s such a calm and precise speaker. It’s kind of mesmerising. Her personality really explains her music. A true artistic spirit.

Loved this interview. Be dope to have you two explore some more tracks from “A Reckoning”
Great interview!

Ahh I love kimbra
Kimbra is a Mew fan. Hell yeah.
And mentions Thom Yorke too 😎

She’s absolutely brilliant 🔥🔥
Still beautiful ❤
My dream is to be able to sit in a room and write a song with Kimbra. She is brilliant.
“You can’t go around it, you have to go into it”
She is very cool.
Agreed :)
C'est vraiment une belle femme.
Rad!!!
Shout out to Genesis!
Some Björk essence went to her personality and music. She stays true to her creative vision, even at the cost of being underrated.
I thought Björk too,..Never sure what's coming next !
maybe Aurora
Do a song with Wicca phase
Kimbra Lee Johnson. The only crash I ever had (and probably I ever will) with someone I never met in person. She’s really untouchable.. ♥️
I'm sure you meant crush !
Besides stunning, she's an intellectual.
she mentioned mew....now i need to marry her

Actually, songs by Kimbra too, I never really delved enough into her discography either...
Oh, towards the end she mentioned that fear of hers... Seems it's close to describing marriage :p
Her accent is morphing into american more and more. Kinda sad to think a human that is all about their voice, starts losing "their voice". It's almost like soul corruption.
She seems like she is blue no matter who

Marry me please!
Maybe just be exciting...
She sounds very American now.
No she doesn't 😂🤣.
Nah her accent has become a bit more neutral but it's still very much kiwi
@@fredricksmith-something.2125 she definitely sounds American

Sorrow: God.
Is what I heard.
She's so hot. She's so charming and breathtaking
Lovely but seems pretty wacky

Need that playlist! Lets así for it!! :D
You like you have issues. "Brah" "brah" is it.
She's pretty attractive for a New Zealand girl. Her accent's changed over the years.
I think she's trying to affect an American accent. It's fucking weird.
I’m sure beauty is not uncommon in your country😊
