- This is day two on Strattera. This is my review.
Dec. 2020 update- please subscribe more videos coming soon!
I am the Official ADHD Teacher! I taught over 10 years in the education field, working with kids (PreK-12) with ADHD and other emotional and behavioral needs. The catch is I have ADHD too, so I totally get them. It was a career of a lifetime. I post advice for parents and other educators. Feel free to email or leave a comment if you need anything.
Currently I run a educational services company company for adults and a health education company.
It took the max dose of 100mg before I could focus pretty well but good lord it has been a complete life changer.
Any updates ? Are you continuing this same dose ?
I love hearing positive things about this drug cause it’s rare
@@emmanuel1567you use it?
Update?
@@marielscharch7388 still on the same dose! Strattera makes a huge difference for me.
You should keep making videos. You give off good vibes immediately.

Thank you so much man. It’s so hard for me to admit to saying I have anxiety issues and adhd only because I was diagnosed late. I feel confident I could relate to everything you were saying and it allow me to help others.
You are my hero man, thank you so much, I wish there were more videos on this medication, I'm due to start it very soon. I really appreciate you making this content and sharing your experience!
how has the medication been for you?
@@darkwizard9330 It's fine, it doesn't work for me, makes me kind of tired but doesn't really benefit me in any way, I still take it because it's the only help offered to me here in Ireland.
What really helps me is self-acceptance, I know my limitations and I don't allow myself to hate myself for my limitations not meeting the expectations of others, I try my best at everything I set my hand to and it might not be good enough for others but it's good enough for me.
You’re are so welcome
@@cuileann i think the reason this med doesn't work for you is because you might misdiagnosed your disease as adhd🤔
Just started my Strattera journey. You are a blessing to those kids! Them being able to look at you and think that yeah they have this thing but they can still be a success. You're doing the lords work sir.
How are you getting on?
Didn't work. Got switched to methylphenidate but haven't been able to get my script filled for 2 months so it's not exactly good.
@steveeymann6374 so you've had to withdraw from that, was it awful? I'm so sorry. What else have you tried ? Adhd is a nightmare
@maryS7543 yeah cold turkey. It's still pretty rough. Anything that works isn't available due to a nationwide shortage. My pharmacist said it won't get better until the fda updates their numbers and allows more to be made. Probably next year.
@steveeymann6374 Thats so cruel. Sorry you had to go through that dude. I'd never cope with another withdrawal at 46 ,the ssri one nearly killed me. Good luck dude
Please make an update video :3 !
I very much appreciated hearing about how you generally feel, and felt on the meds. I can definitely relate. I’ve been told by a neuropsychologist to try Strattera, but my psychiatrist isn’t really into the idea unless I insist. I want to trust her judgement (to some extent!) and she put me on Wellbutrin. It’s been two weeks, and I feel like my mind is spiralling a lot less in terms of over thinking stuff. I have been waking up for months not feeling rested, no matter the amount of time I slept. These last two weeks have been so much better. Not perfect sleep, but I actually feel like I’ve slept!
I’m also really happy to see someone with adhd succeed in a teaching position ^^ ! Very proud!
So I take Wellbutrin for depression, now. It didn’t work at well for the ADHD part. And thank you so much.
@@theofficialadhdteacher so you take wellbutrin for depression and you're still taking strattera?
Wellbutrin didn't do me any good. I didn't like it one bit. Stretrra makes me feel nauseated even if I eat before. I hate the feeling.
@@tylerstrong1776 I find if I take it with like a glass of milk or a yogurt I don’t feel as nauseous also, I discovered never to take it with pop.
Please make more videos. I watched both your videos and loved them. Everything you said is spot on and relatable.
I have add and chronic fatigue. It helps me be alert and me focused. My mood is better too. I could tell from day 1.
I have chronic fatigue also. Picking up my prescription in a bit. I’m hoping it helps.
How are you guys feeling now months later? I’ve been on for about 2 Weeks now
I was literally just prescribed this. On my way to the pharmacist. Looking forward to see how it works. Thank you for sharing brother...
Literally picking mine up now haha
How has it worked?
@maryS7543 It's been a life changer! And thanks for asking! But yea, I'm now able to remain focused on projects and it's changed everything for the better! 😊
@mantismonk2554 oh wow that's great news! I'm so worried about taking anything but also can't live like this. Any bad side effects?

I understand that you posted this like 11 months ago and the entire world is totally different.... but I really hope you post more. I feel like we have a similar story. I just started this medicine like 3 months now.

Alexa- update please
i currently am taking quillivant but i truly believe at some point my adhd worsened, i feel like i get into fights a lot more on it and i also think its giving me heart problems and intrusive thoughts, luckily i finally talked to my psych about swapping to straterra, i think a nonstimulant will work so much better for me and ive been working hard to find peoples accounts on it, so far yours has been my favorite! im really glad it’s working for you!
Was given strattera from my doctor back in October. It's the first time I've ever addressed how I feel... at 36 years old. I'm on 40 mg now, started on 25. I honestly feel like I felt the 25 more than the 40, though I've been on it a little whole now.
Life has been crazy lately, both professionally and personally and it no doubt helps. Not 100% but far more than I could have expected from any sort of medication as a solution. I just figured i was slow at some absolute basic things, while good at a few select things (politics and mcguyvering things mostly).
I was just diagnosed in December 2020. First tried Concerta but it didn't address the anxiety so my dr prescribed this med. I'm on 40mg and I feel it more than I did the Concerta. But its just a very noticeable calm. But yea. Politics and fixing things for me also lol
I'm 36yrs old and finally asked my doctor too. Today is day 1 on 40mg.
I thank God I dont need these drugs no more. Strattera made me hate the experience of taking it. Being too anti social while hpyer focused is not good. I've had my share of side effects. Still to this day I do not like talking about the side effects I had from it.
@christianhenry4173 oh gosh really? I withdrew from ssris and its nearly killed me. I'm still struggling. Do you take anything ?
This is a great review. Thank you for sharing! My dr just prescribed this for me so I’m starting it today! Thank you!
How's it going for you? I am starting today too
@@___jadeeee I’m still on it! My doctor doubled my dose so I’m on 80 now but I am feeling great. The only thing is when I take it, I get so tired. I take mine at like 7:30 at night. I’m scared to try it during the day. But I feel like it’s helped my mood and anxiety. I feel more relaxed and not irritated all the time but I’m still having problems with focus but I definitely feel a positive change
@@heatherjohnson5612 that's so reassuring to hear! I also struggle with anxiety so I'm looking forward to seeing how this medication helps. I'm 4hrs into it and I actually felt so sleepy almost like my blood pressure dropped so maybe I'll try it in the evening if that side effect persists. Thank you for responding, it means a lot to me!
@@___jadeeee I definitely recommend taking it in the evening if you continue to feel tired. I started feeling tired from what seemed like day one but I have started from the beginning ain the evening about 3 hours before you go to bed. Talk to your dr first just in case but that’s what my dr suggested for me and I am feeling great. I feel like it has helped my anxiety. I started at 40 and I felt better but not a huge difference. After a month I told my dr exactly how I was feeling and she increased my dose to 80 per day. I am as lmk at two weeks in and I feel soooo much less stressed. She told me it takes at least a good two weeks to get in your system so you get a good feel for the side effects of any. I hope this works for you. Just be 100% transparent with how your feeling on it So they give you the correct dosage. I hope you have success with it🙏🙏🙏
@@heatherjohnson5612 that's really good information and I appreciate your advice! Day 2 so far haven't felt the tiredness so we'll see how it goes. I'm trying my best to keep a record of how I'm feeling but ADHD makes it hard to remember!! Lol thanks again and I'm glad you're having a good experience.
I’ve been taking 40 mg twice a day of Strattera for 2 months and I can see some differences in my daily life but I still have some racing thoughts. I had the exact same experience with sleepiness and blunted emotions when I started. Now I’ve noticed my room is much cleaner versus it being a mess, I’ve been more calm and I’m not as impulsive. It’s a good treatment helper but it doesn’t fix everything in my opinion!
Didn't your doctor prescribe prodep for rasing thoughts? It worked really well for me. The reason i told this to you is, there are many people who has both adhd and anxiety disoder/ depression as two seperate disorders.
@@nimzsakrajz6101 I think I have both,mind never stops
I am on day 1 of 40 mil, of this, and I didn't think it was the meds making me better since it was only day one but now that youre saying all of this... maybe it freakin was!!! I did feel all of the things youre saying, super calm, thoughts not racing as much, but I thought maybe it was because I didn't have as much anxiety today since I feel happier that I'm on the right path to getting help. But yeah, maybe it was the pills. I'll definitely be making a review on Strattera on my vlog channel "ell vlogs" eventually if anyone is interested :)
Are you still taking it . I just started
This is not a real effect of the medicine, as the medicine takes a period of time to act in the body regularly, between a week and more. What we feel is called the phantom defect of the medicine. It happens with most people, and it is a kind of internal conclusion. 😊
@@ALSHAMRANI176 its called placebo dont know what youre yapping about
I just picked mine up today , I can’t to feel calm and normal . But I’m nervous ,
Strattera makes me feel sick. I took 30mg and couldn't tell much so went up to 60mg and still makes me really sick feeling. Adderall gives me the energy I need bc it's so hard for me to find the energy to get up amd do anything. My mind constantly racing and I'll go through these periods where I won't shut up and other times I don't want to talk or see anyone and just want to lock myself inside. I'm 29 and went my whole life feeling like somthing was wrong but my parents were off on drugs and my grandma and sister raised me until I lost grandma in 08 from bone cancer and my sister was murdered in 09 by her husband then lost both first cousins, my uncle, my best friend in 2015 2 days before christmas and my dad to throat cancer in 2020 so I've got depression and a severe anxiety and panic disorder.
Oh poor you!! How devastating I'm so sorry, how are you now??
Soon as u started the video ..... them eyes screamed ADHD.
Haha I said the same thing
I'm a special ed teacher with ADHD too!
Very nice review, I'm starting in ten days, have really trouble wiht motivation and concentration. Had tried ritalin it helps immediately but the doctors here in Slovenia don't want to prescribe it for adults. SO I hope strattra will help me, I have a big project ahead. Thank you for the nice review!
thank you for sharing your story, I just recently got diagnosed and will be picking up my meds today. I was getting a little anxious as I am already on a cocktail of medication. I hope to get similar results, but I am going to need to trust the process.
Update please
My child’s doctor said this takes a month to work .
So this is good to hear it may work immediately
Still on it? Does it work
Very well done video! I'm about to start today this helps thank you!!!
I started today. 3 days on 40 mg once a day, and then 40 mg twice a day after that. I had to take a nap two hours after my first dose, even though I hadn't been up long, but it was the most satisfying nap I think I've ever taken. I usually wake up from naps feeling like I was hit by a truck, but I woke up feeling fantastic. I also felt unusually clear mentally as I was drifting off, which I did not expect so soon. I have a lot of brain fog normally. I was worried about nausea but I ate first and then ate again later when I started to feel a little queasy, and it went away immediately. Nausea was my biggest concern as a side effect. Another side effect so far was a short bout of dry mouth that went away when I had a cup of tea. The most persistent and unusual side effect so far though, is that my skin feels like it's creeping on my arms, neck, and jaw area, and I've had goosebumps for most of the day. So far I'm encouraged that this might work for me, but we will have to wait and see.
How you doing with the drug now?
I have adhd.. but I often have a quite different problem.. where I practically feel dead.. I have no words in my mknd.. no thoughts. Nothing
loved the info and your energy!! you ARE an expert, don't let the impostor syndrome get you!
I am 2 months in at 40mg what he is saying is familiar to the point that I'm trying to get to know myself and I'm 57 So this must be the real me. I've lost at least 25 lbs and that's great. My next step is getting on the 80mg and see where that takes me next.
Informative Thank You!
Thanks man!! I'm starting it on Monday. Fingers crossed.
How is going now?
Thank you for your video. Today qas day 2 for my 12 year old. He started with 25 for 7 days then 40 for 7 days and then 60 is what the dr wants him on daily. He is 110lbs so i hope thats not to high and he dose alright.
Thank you for sharing your story, I just started strattera and was just bumped up to 40mg ..felt nothing on 25.. Dr said *0mg is the ADHD dose but we have to work up to it.
Great video,
The only bad thing for me is the stomach growling for some reason... this is even taking it with food.
The description is exactly like taking any SSRI
Cheers
Day one of me taking strattera and I can’t believe how silent my brain is already.
@Angel Sanchez For me it just helps with my racing thoughts. One of my symptoms of my adhd is that I have alot of thoughts all at once and it can cause me to have alot of anxiety and over think things. I actually stopped taking it shortly after this comment though because it was making my heart race. Im trying concerta now.
@Angel Sanchez I’m so glad to hear it’s working! Yeah it made me super jittery and anxious.
M starting today 10mg.... doc said take in the morning but after seeing reviews I decided to take it early evening ..... Btw any suggestions or precautions for the 1st 4 weeks?
@Angel Sanchez thanks... Currently the side effects that I am facing are...
1. Increased appetite : m eating like an elephant
2.increased Body absorption rate which is causing frequent urination, constipation, excessive sweating
3. light headedness as if I am flying in heaven 😂😂😂
Is this side-effects will remain forever?

I gotta admit I had a bad reaction to Straterra. Not trying to be rude or gross but it gave me extreme pain in my testicles. I had hopes for it because my Adderal over time has just been somewhat ineffective. I do want to tell you that as a teacher, it’s good to hear from another teacher who isn’t nuerotypical.

Trying straterra before I get back on concerta. But super nervous about the side effects.
How did it keep working for you? I'm on day 6 & I'm still battling the drowsiness, lack of appetite (until the end of the day when it wears off & I get sooo hungry), but I can feel my focus starting to kick in more. I don't really feel much anxiety anymore but like you said I have the blunted personality too. I also get a little brain fog.
How are you now?
Thanks for sharing your experience. How is it going now?
Thank you for sharing.
I feel like medication doesn't work for me, it gives me too much anxiety & completely kills my personality. I also find certain funny clips / videos / movies unappealing during medication, i find it very hard to laugh or enjoy jokes / memes and stuff. But the medication gets stuff done for me, like it slows down time and makes me focus on one thing at the time.
I just started it a week ago. Switched up from adderall. So far it makes me feel tired throughout the day, and more like a zombie than adderall did. I was started off on 10mg
Thank you for this!
I tried Strattera for a bit but then it seemed to stop working after a few months. So frustrating.
Really enjoyed your video😎
Been on 40 mg for a week now, haven't noticed any real change...
My child 4 yrs taking 18 mg for adhd but sleepy for next day long not talking with anybody even with family we bothered 😫 staarted 15 days, not eating food, onwards pls tell me is it better to continue. Pls waiting for reply
No expert but I keep reading IF those side effects would mean to subside it will take upto 3 weeks. I'm super sensitive with usually many side effects so I was trying to dig more into the side effects than actual effects. Is your child getting better or same since it will mark aout 3 weeks now?
I have tried 3 stimulants and they where horrific. I pray to God atomoxetine is my saviour.

Thank you for sharing sir. Are you still taking them now? If so, what has your experience been these past 4 years.
I started this today and I’m really scared and nervous because I already have a hate for antidepressant types of meds. I don’t want to feel numb or no emotion at all, that seems scary to me. How is your adhd now with the pandemic? Mine is so much worse being at home and not being able to go to a “work environment”

@@sherryyyberryyy235 it's actually going great! I was really worried about the aggression and insomnia side effects but I haven't experienced any. Currently on a low dose of 40mg 1x day.
I can read and comprehend what I've read a lot better, focus a little bit better, my depression has improved, and I feel motivated to complete tasks. Hoping I can increase the dosage in a few months.
@@MisterWhatWhat that’s great news! I’m currently on medication for depression, anxiety & PTSD but struggling with ADHD symptoms. My Dr doesn’t want to put me on a stimulant again because of my anxiety so she was talking about trying me on this next month. I was trying to do my research a head of time. After taking Adderall for many years I wasn’t sure if a non stimulate would help me but it seems to have good reviews which makes me excited to try it!
@@sherryyyberryyy235 Definitely give it a try! It does take about 3 weeks for it to begin working. I'm on Celexa and feared that it would interact with it, but it made it work "better" in a sense. My Dr didn't want to put me on a stimulant because of my anxiety as well and due to blood pressure issues that are hereditary. He's okay with prescribing class drugs when needed but he is anti adderall and other similar drugs. I truly hope things work out for you. Would not wish anxiety, ADHD, or any of this mess on my worst enemy, it truly sucks beyond words.

Yes. I had this too. Couldn’t eat at all on in. My stomach felt soooo gross almost like I was going to throw up all day.
Why does strattera make you sleepy? Is this a common side effect
Doesn’t straterra take 2-4 weeks to kick in?
Thanks for the great content.
One question tho, why did you go back to Adderall ?
What does Adderall do that Stratera doesn't ? because my Dr prescribed it to me and I am on 60 mg now.

Great Content
Have you tried qelbree?
Thanks man
Mind if I ask-I tried Strattera and it made me so lethargic, dizzy, and dissociated, and made my vision blur to a point where I wasn’t able to drive, or cook, or read. Did you have any of these side effects?
Day 1 feedback I take with a grain of salt- especially with medicine that takes a while to work.. Just sayin.
Hope you’re all doing well.
I just received my diagnosis in this new year and I'm 29. This is my first time taking strattera. And a question I have for you is have you ever felt constant chills from the top of your head and constant nausea? I'm on 40mg.
Chilled hands and feet are its side effects
"Kinda forgot to take both of them, twice a day, so whatever..." I'm sorry, I shouldn't have laughed as loud as I did.
So, I'm not sure if you'll see this, but hoping you do. With my ADHD, I'm very much the epitome of disorganisation, and at the moment, my executive dysfunction is in another country altogether (although about to start Strattera, so might find it's on a flight home after all). Anyway, I'm currently at university, and I've found a huge passion for the degree I'm studying. But I've also found I'd quite like to go back and teach it in a few years. I've got the knowledge, the confidence, the potential teaching ability, but I know organisation plays into it a lot, too.
So, I'm curious. How did you find ADHD affected your ability to stay on top of the organisational needs for teaching? And did Strattera affect this much? Also, I've seen some people mention the emotional blunting effects, and this is an important one for me as a counsellor, so did you find that it impacted your ability to empathise with your students?
My son is 12 turning 13 he has Autism adhd anxiety and depression he been on Abilify for months and just started vyvanse and it made him angry and irritable. I been doing research and I can’t find anything .
Did you find anything that worked for him. Im in the same boat. Vyvanse did that to me. So did concerta.
thanks buddy
Do you still take Strattera and how did you get adderall prescribed i been trying to get it
Can I ask what time of day you were taking yours? I take mine about mid day (1ish) and did laid down for a nap (on day two) which I can NEVER do because my mind won’t shut off to sleep, even when I’m EXHAUSTED! I was able to feel relaxed enough to sleep the slightest bit and it was amazing! I do wonder if taking it in the evening or closer to bed would help.
How are you getting on now?
Im considering using this. I've never taken Adderall or anything else to treat the ADD. But I am nervous to start this as with anything new especially any pills. I have and am trying all natural ways to improve focus like lions mane for example but it still isn't giving me that motivation or focus. Could I expect to get motivated and focus from this Strattera ? Also have you tried or know anything about Focalin?
Have you tried thc? It's a stimulant to me.
It works I took it as a kid from 12 to 18. But of course it didn't work as well as concerta. Strattera is a stimulant... just not typical stimulant. I took 80mg but for a little I took 100mg. I stopped taking 100mg because the pharmacy didn't have it... Want to start dexodrine.
I'm confused, were you saying you were feeling effects from Strattera on Day 1? Strattera is a non-stimulant and is an SNRI therefore it takes a full 4-8 weeks before you should start seeing any therapeutic results. Anything in the first few days would be side effects or placebo effect.
It almost immediately raises functional noradrenaline concentration in the synaptic cleft.
Noradrenaline release will not lead to euphoria or marked psychological arousal, but you could very plainly feel effects on day one. Significant therapeutic effects are distinct from the mere awareness of the physiological effects of increased noradrenaline concentrations.
@@kenhaze5230 yes thank you, you can definitely psychologically be aware of your mental state being different
