Wars are brutal no matter how sophisticated the weapons, so relating the story of this WW1 conflict must include the horrors that existed in abundance during those four years. You have depicted the scene with realism and detail evoking the struggle for survival....congratulations! It will be another terrific episode when you share the painting process so will be keen to see that come to fruition in the future.

36:11 you should add an extra sheet of metal to his helmet, like a lot of German stormtroopers did. It would 100% add to the look of the "heavy unit with machine gun", as well as be historically accurate.

    • @ModeliteDiorama
      @ModeliteDiorama  9 місяців тому +2

Yes you are right! Thank you very much for your hint! Actually, I was and I am aware that many machine gunners and observation guards had these steel plates on their helmets and therefore I have experimented with detaching these plates from styrene molds of these helmets from the company ICM, as they are unfortunately cast on the helmet, but unfortunately this did not work out.
Furthermore, I have also tried to make a correct steel plate with aluminum foil, but unfortunately I have not yet managed to produce an authentic and very good result with it, which is why I had discarded the idea in this case. But I will try again!!

Incredible work. I love how the finished unpainted diorama still shows off the amount of effort you put into it by showing all the various materials and additions you made. I almost like unpainted models more than painted when they are super detailed with photo etch, putty, etc.

Thank you for your brilliant diorama. I was raised by my grandfather who fought in the British army as a 16 year old, who fought at the Somme, was shot and captured. This diorama brought back memories of the conversations I used to have with him as a teenager regarding his horrific experiences in trench warfare. You certainly captured the horror of war.

That is a stunning piece of work my friend……👏👏👏😧 Fabulous attention to detail in the trench, and the groundwork itself. The time & patience just to create the sandbags alone👌The trench floor, supporting walls, dug out - excellent!
I’m building my own little trench section currently, & was going to create a wall myself using very thin twigs. But the bristles from a broom is genius!💡🧹 I’m afraid I’ll have to pinch that idea….
Congratulations on a fine model, the figure conversions & improvements too are very clever, the presentation of the video itself excellent - well done😌👍

But as you know very well too, you never know how that will develop further on UA-cam :D

Looking forward to seeing you paint her up/finish!
-This is a GOOD THING youre depicting what really HAPPENS during warfare of any type-the horrific human costs involved. Its still subtle, not overly done. I see zero reason why anyone would take issue with such, when most tolerate "Forever Conflicts" as normalcy & matter of contemporary Govt/Corporate politics masquerading as foreign policy?
Ive always found it difficult &/or somewhat corny regarding combat-themed dios, as its pretty difficult to render in 1/35th the dynamic ferocity of close quarters battle, no matter the era/battles depicted. Youve totally knocked it outta the park in regards to such with the figure mods!... ~Well done. Best one Ive yet to see/view....
-I think thats why I stick to the 'Behind The Scenes' variety in its stead...
-Dig the music used in vid too, I find the similar 'Wir Sind Schwarze Haufen' tune about Florian Geyer's early 1500's Black Company, when he worked with that admirable lovable maniac, Goetz Von Berlichingen. The song/vid showing the lyrics almost needs a sing-along red 'Bouncing Ball' as the sharp, crackling cadence of the lyrics are sung. Germanic language tends to lend itself to that particular song well..(Vid on YT @: 'S.E.C', or other channels...;)
-Besides, who doesnt LOVE any 'Peasants Uprising(s)' anyhow right? (I & no doubt many others seem to commiserate, or identify with that feeling @ times;)

    • @ModeliteDiorama
      @ModeliteDiorama  10 місяців тому

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and encouraging words again! It means a lot to hear that you appreciate the approach I've taken with depicting the human costs of warfare in my diorama.
I'm glad you feel that the portrayal of close-quarters combat in 1/35th scale has been effectively captured in the figure modifications. It's a challenging aspect to convey, but one that I've endeavored to represent authentically. Your kind words truly affirm that the effort has been worthwhile.
And I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed the music in the video! And interesting recommendation of the piece of music. I will check it out. The song in the video is called Marsch der Verdammten (March of the Damned) and fits perfectly with an anti-war diorama in WWI, as the lyrics are about the hopelessness and damnation in No Man's Land and at the same time it sounds powerful.
Thank you again for your support and for sharing your insights. It's conversations like these that enrich our shared appreciation for history and modeling!

If not already familiar? For additional/poss inspiration give WW1 combat veteran & poet: Wilfred Owens: "Dulce Et Decorum Est" a looksee....(My apex>piratical>combative>outlaw creative writing teacher in HS, had us all memorize the piece, of which, I can still repeat certain stanzas to this day!..Ha!)
-With those words contained therein he weaves a stunning visualization in the minds eye....
Another one thats top-shelf & WELL worth a read is U.S General George Smith Patton's EXCELLENT poem:
      "Through A Glass, Darkly"...
An >Impressive piece< concerning the cyclical nature of warfare, reincarnation, time linearity, the human experience & cycles of the soul..(See: Mankinds 'ForeverWar' problem)...;)

Haha, don't worry, you're not crazy. That's exactly the song. On UA-cam it's called: "Wo alle Straßen enden" (Where all roads end). But in the original it's called "Marsch der Verdammten" (March of the Damned) and was written in the 50s or 60s. Nevertheless, the song melody and the lyrics fit wonderfully to an anti-war diorama in the First World War!

      First of all,
Your thoughtful and thorough comments are always a pleasure to read!
Thank you for your kind words regarding my channel's growth. While numbers certainly have their place, what truly matters is the community we build and the knowledge we share. I'm honored to have subscribers like you who appreciate the creative process and are eager to learn and experiment with new techniques.
Your attention to detail and dedication to your WWII mega-dio project are truly commendable! The level of craftsmanship and historical accuracy you've described, is inspiring.
It's clear that you've poured countless hours into your work, and your passion shines through every aspect of your project. The way you've incorporated elements like the rural Normandy farm and the resourceful French couple adds depth and authenticity to your depiction of the era.
Your commitment to quality over quantity is admirable, and it's evident that your skills have evolved over the years as you've continued to refine and improve your models and dioramas. And the fact that you're willing to donate your masterpiece once it's complete speaks volumes about your generosity and love for the hobby.
As for your question about the placement of Wehrmacht/SS repair companies in Normandy, I unfortunately can't say much about it, because I don't know much about this specific topic and know where to find information on this.

-@ some point here shortly within the summers span, Ill post a few quick vids of the models Ive built for the project, they wont be pro-level vids, but will show the builds/buildings/figs/ none the less using a quik n' dirty fashion to do so upon the ArtDestOfHealing/Destruction. For that, I apologize in advance....HA!...
-I seen a ponderous plethora of PURE ART & technical ability, largely accomplished by 'Novices' within the field, just experimenting, failing & finding out what works best for them. Just in the shooting, lighting, narration, editing & assemblage of many YT modelers videos alone! Thats a huge secondary job, In addition to the build explorations themselves. This is where the latest tech application(s) products certainly help out to concentrate the process for the sakes of brevity & overall time spent doing so. At the end of the day, youre here to better represent & demonstrate the modeling craft, however some may find new talents &/'or new career paths gained just by the presentation of the product/passion....
Agreed on numbers/metrics represented as minor aspect of the process, unless human ego gets in the way with an obsession for increasing numbers/subs, which can happen, but not in youre case. Those metrics still yet a valuable one none the less, as it helps to build & assist the community in the sharing pf techniques, processes & ideas in general.
-2 heads are better than one (Ask Zaphod Beeblebrox;) thousands, or tens of thousands of em?...- triply so...
(BTW I'd contacted Hamilkar in the comments section of his latest vid & had asked if hes seen youre work(s)...He replied yes, he's already sub'd & values your thru-put/input, Im sure many subscribed to Mr. Barkas will no doubt visit your WorkSpace as a result. Ill continue to drop lines on other YT modelers as I visit new build vids from time to time...;)

With this diorama you are tackling with one of the most controversial if not taboo aspect of modeling: how to represent the deaths and woundeds in scale. The balance between artistic suggestions and gore is sometimes hard to find, I think your are making it right but be cautious 😔 Viel Spass!

yes, you are right, I find this title so expressive because it makes the insignificance of this suffering so clear. Paul Bäumer dies in the end like many others on a "quiet" day, but since there are no changes on the front line, the report only says nothing new in the West
