    Your not entirely wrong. CIG is for sure a business first.
    They are a game company (we will see how good when SQ42 comes out at the start of 2025)
    a Tech Company (yes they will sell Star Engine rights to people. That is how they will keep making money after SQ42 and SC comes out)
    and Chris Roberts is also a director so they have put a lot of time into Tech that goes along with the cut scenes and story in SQ42. The stars they have in the cast alone will propel the game to large sales $$$$$
    Remember no matter if its Juan's Tacos or a Game company everything is a Business first.

    I definitely think the true value is in the engine! They'd be silly to not do more than just SC with it, whether that means making more genres of games and keeping it internal or selling the tech to others.

      I think they are intending to licence their system to other game developers. An empire building mmo but with a whole planet to fight over for example.

    Yup, agreed. I'm with you; I think if or when they can prove server meshing works with a proper 4.0 roll-out, expect the entire industry to change from then onward. No one is working on tech like this that we know of at this scale with PES + DSM, so those two right there are huge game changers. Throw in tools like Malestom, Tony Z's Quanta, and their Apollo AI suite, and they literally have an entire classification of game dev tools that could be packaged up and shipped out of box for various scaled projects.

      Yeah all of these together are an incredible development. And even if it’s slower at the moment, as hardware increases capabilities maybe it will work smoothly

    Most definitely agree. The star engine is basically a Frankenstein creation. I can see Chris Roberts screaming “ it’s alive” as customers line up to purchase this engine. If sq 42 is anything like the game trailer, there are going to be a lot of people eating their words. I personally think that if SQ 42 is that good then it could very well be the game of the year… dependent on the year it is released. I have been playing Star Citizen for a bit over 3 years and what they have released in the last part of 2023 is most definitely the best so far. There are many more devs on the project now. I’m not a white knight at all, but SC is really starting to feel like a game. This is just my opinion, but hey, what do I know,..

    I've been of a mind that they are developing an Open World development system; and Star Citizen is proof of concept, an, "Ultimately you could do this!" sort of thing.

    From Cloud Imperium Financials for 2020
    "purchase of the perpetual Company CryEngine license for use not just in our current games, but also for potential use in any future projects that CIG might develop. "
    CIG in still license with LumberYard, but after that engine will become "StarEngine".

      Oh, yeah they definitely sell the future of the the game and keep that future potential gameplay a huge selling point because backers can all makeup their own versions of the perfect game in their head and back for that. Very true.
      This video is mainly speaking to if SC is the end goal or whether it’s the means to an end. The end being an incredible game engine capable of never-before-possible scale and detail that they will then license to others to make their own games

    Ever heard of licensing out their tech for msking other games?
    I'm for that, but most likely CIG will keep the engine inhouse like every other big studio, and create other games themselves.
    I would like to see Xbox buy CIG in the future and make use of their huge serverpark space to get every scifi lover involved with Starcitizen. Until then CR is boss, and anything can happen in the future.
    Ofc everything you said is hersay and close to a consoiracy.

    Sooo let me get the theory straight, CIG isn't a gaming company and isn't making star citizen, correct?

    • @williamlewis1805
      @williamlewis1805 Рік тому +1

      Well, it’s a gaming company - at least started that way, but they also saw a rare opportunity to create a unique game engine with a lot of incoming money. Mostly, just using the opportunity to create universal tech that makes SC but also able to be repurposed

    • @CitizenRyan
      @CitizenRyan  Рік тому +2

      Yes, CIG is the company that makes Star Citizen. The theory is that the game engine, the “Star engine”, is actually their priority and the most important product they are creating
