Just remember on the Lexus gx470 that when you break the bleeder screw that you DON'T pump the brakes bc the vehicle has an automatic pump for JUST the rear & not the front. For the rear brakes. 1) turn the switch on without pumping the brake. Put your foot on the brake & the pump will automatically pump the fluid into your container. When the fluid is clear, turn the bleeder screw back to tighten. Turn the switch back off and pump your brake up. Same for the other rear brake side. On the front you will do as normal by pumping the brakes and hold. 10 mm wrench and break the bleeder screw until fluid comes out and the brake pedal hits the floor. Tighten the bleeder screw and pump the brakes back up. Do this on each front sides about 5 times and you should be good to go. Remember to spray brake cleaner around the bleeder screws once you are finish so the brake fluid want get on your brakes and rotors. IMPORTANT: Everytime you bleed your wheel make sure you fill the Master cylinder backup with brake fluid. Hope this will help someone.

Thanks for sharing these tips to help others.
Instead of using something to suck the old fluid out of the reservoir, I start with the back brakes first. As you said, turn on the ignition, open the rear bleed screw and get someone to just slightly push on the pedal until the ABS pump starts. Use the pump to push the fluid out, but make sure you monitor the reservoir level and stop before it's empty. Then fill with clean fluid and repeat until clean fluid at the rear. Then do the rest as you showed. A Toyota service tech told me to do it that way.
I've posted a couple of LX570 videos on my channel too, if you're interested.
    Cheers from Australia.

Cool. Good tip. Reason for pulling old fluid from reservoir is so you don’t continue to push old fluid through brake system, but it’s fine either way.

@@n1qualifiedman Yes it did, did them exactly as you have, took less than an hour, got a whole bottle worth of nice IPA colored fluid. The spunginess in the pedal went away.
I don't think I remember last time I had to flush the brake fluid. So really appreicate you taking the time and effort teaching and documenting the brake job.

n1 qualified man Indeed, I just bought the truck and two calipers were sticking. I live in Eastern Canada and the roads are covered with salt during the winter, so after 13 years the rust is starting to be an issue.

I’m bummed! Your channel was my go-to for my ‘08 LX 570! I haven’t found any other channel dedicated to that model/year that I trust they know what they’re talking about....especially the dealership. They were clueless on tow caps, AHC etc., and I use it to tow my horse trailer at least once a month. And unfortunately I’m stuck w them for maintenance. So hopefully you can answer this: what do you recco for 100k mile maintenance/service? Water pump? Serpentine chain? No belts to speak of? Flush AHC fluid? Thanks in advance if you are able to help me out!

    • @thooks1234
      @thooks1234 2 роки тому

I realize this is a year old, but..... For 100k mile service - There's no chain to service. Serp belt - yes. Transmission, Front, center and rear diff drain and fill. Replace the transmission filter and fluid. Flush the brake lines. Replace spark plugs, air filter, cabin air filter. Oil change, coolant drain and fill. I would pull AHC fluid out of the reservoir and refill.

I think not, because the catalogs give DOT 4
DOT 3 in a brake system of this class is a murder to the ABS pump
DOT 3 has much worse properties, it is too dense to work properly in such a system
proposes to flush the entire system together with the ABS pump and fill with DOT 4+ class 6 special for the ESP ESP
(sorry for English, I'm from Poland, I use Google Translate)

      DOT 3 or DOT 4
I propose DOT 4 (class 6) because it has a lower viscosity, so ABS and ESP work better and faster, this fluid is resistant to higher temperatures

in 2012 Chevrolet (GM Europe) did a service action because problems with the ABS pump started as a result of using DOT 3 which caused corrosion inside the pump - they exchanged fluid for GM DOT 4+ for free and rinsed the entire system using a GM tester (I worked in the service I've done).
From what I see, many people have problems with ABS in Toyota or Lexus - also with ABS pump, malfunction and braking. In Europe, the brake system for Toyota is made by Bosch Germany ...
