This long-trip-video-with-an-offspring-involved resonates a lot! There was one time a feller travelled from London to Scotland and then back the way in an old Citreon (yuck!) CX, with a 1 year-old boy. Well I tells yah, that ol' car managed just fine up to Scotland, but on the way back it just kept losing the old ice cube fluid and I ain't kidding yah. Multiple stops along the way back South. But we managed it, us both. Was a long day and a long night back to base. Was proud of the young feller and how much he coped with that adventure I tells yah.
I don't know who's idea it was to combine a road trip with a repair video.....yours I guess. But it's great. Thank you. I hope the little guy is having a good time.
Hensley Transmission in Bella Vista, AR........YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!!!!! Thanks for Taking care of Derek and BENTLEY!!!! You all are Good Fellers!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU FROM ALL OF US!!!!!

I never tire of hearing the “technical terms “ for things on this channel. Thank you for including us in your life this way. I can only speak for myself but I’ve learned a number of tricks watching this channel. Hope to meet you in person sometime.
I’ve spent a lot of time overseas and dreamed of and missed road-trips in the good ol USA since driving is my passion and road-trips are one of my favorite things to do. I got my fix by watching VGG and now I’m back. I got stationed on OK and ironically live in Yukon. Love the channel, it’s as American as you can get. 💯💯💯🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
No matter how well or badly this trip goes, your young fella will never forget the trip he did with his dad. More power to your arm, it’s a great thing you do.
Derek you are a bright spot in a gloomy day. Your trip with the little human jars the old memory box back to my Army days and going on leave prior to going to Italy. We had to move all our stuff from Savannah, GA to Ruthton, MN with a 71 Plymouth Sattelite 383 variety pulling a UHAUL with all our belongings and my Norton motorcycle. We broke down in the middle of nowhere in Iowa and thankfully had the bike to go the 17 miles to get what we needed. My wife and year old daughter stayed with the car. That was in October of 81.
Vice Grip Garage is the best show in my opinion and Derek is always entertaining. I smile and laugh so much while watching.😂 Much love and blessings to all ❤️ Stay safe everyone 🤘😎
Thanks Derick for all your video's, my dad and i enjoy watching you... He's got leukemia and Parkinson's disease.... He and i both think you are funny and look forward to every new video... It's good for his mind and makes wonderful memories.... Thank you!!

I love the way Derek is totally unfazed by anything that truck throws at him. Even with the little guy as co-pilot the atmosphere is calm. Great video as always. Hanging in to the end!

Even though he is only a couple of years older than me, it's like he helps me grow as a father and man for myself, and especially my family. He's a pretty stand out fella.

It's amazing how far some complete strangers will go to help you when you're broken down 1500 miles (or any long distance) from home. If you know, you know....

This brought back memories! I did the "lose a hose clamp and dump all the ATF, replace the clamp, drive 3 miles, loose the clamp at the other end of the hose and dump it all again" thing on a 79 CJ7 a few years back. I feel you.... You seem to have handled it WAY better than I did. Looking forward to seeing more of this trip!
Always look for the silver lining. A valuable lesson that I learned over 50 years ago when I was about Bentley's age. It teaches a feller, or fellette, that any obstacle can be overcome. Thanks for passing it along. Have fun guys!
Your ability to stay positive is motivation for me... I tend to throw a shitfit when things go south. I will take a page from your book on my next adventure!
It's simple really, just always plan for shit to go south extremely, therefore when something does happen it doesn't bother you that much cause you knew it would/could happen. Also always fit as many tools and full size jack etc as your truck or car trunk can handle so you're physically prepared as well lol
So far this reminds me of me and my dad back in the late 70's and early 80's; so many roadside or parking lot repairs that I learned on the fly with him... belts, alternators, batteries, starters, fluid/filters and the list goes on and on. He passed about 5 years back, and every time I work on a car/bust my knuckles/or figure out I don't have a key part on hand, I think of him. Great to see you building those memories - that's the valuable part for sure...
Love your positive attitude even when things don't go as planned. Great lessons for your son too. Looking forward to the next video, keep up the good work!
I laughed so hard when you mentioned running 50 in second. Reminded me of my days in my 97 4.6 Cougar that lost 3 & 4, drove that thing everywhere at 3750 Rpms, it was the best I could afford at the time but it never let me down. God bless the 4.6 modular
Indeed, God indeed BLESSED you with that salty cougar....that...that.. wretched CATAMOUNT! Amazing How He can take FAILURES AND SHAPE THEM INTO FRUITFULL DESTINIES and SUNSHINE FOREVER. AMEN.
My father always talked about his trips down along route 66, always wanted to take him on it again but he passed away, time is short and you and Bentley are making the most of it. Love this
Its trips like these that your son will remember. I feel like I'm reliving my childhood just watching this. still remember pulling over and having my dad whip out the giant map book throw it on the hood and try to figure out where we are.
Went on some trips like this with my Grandpa in his 72 Dodge p/u and in his square body Chevy. Big 10. Slept in the back at truck stops and in cheap motels. Loved every mile. He could fix anything. I sure miss him.
The example you are setting for your kids is amazing. Frankly, for all of us. Some day your son will tell his kids about this trip with a smile. Love the videos. Keep up the good work!
It feels like a Saturday morning waking up to a VGG video 😁 The length of the video isnt as important as the awesome content, you and Bentley are living the dream even if it doesnt feel that way at 3am in the dark.. Keep it up sir 👌
My dad and I did a couple long road trips like this. Everything seems to just go out all in a series. My dad called it a "field shakedown" because once you get everything that goes out replaced, you're good for the rest of the trip assuming you don't blow the engine up completely or a wheel falls off. Best memories ever. Bentley is going to have some awesome stories to tell his kids one day.
The next video will be longer and jam packed with stops/history neat stuff! Thank you all!

I love seeing these road trip films Derek does. As a Brit it's great to see regular America. I love it. Great content - best channel on UA-cam.
Yep, I'll second that.
That boy of yours will remember every inch of that trip.
Not many dads in the world like his.
A1 great job.
AMEN.
Brilliant as always....your let's get it done attitude is infectious.....eagerly awaiting the next episode
My father always talked about his trips down along route 66, always wanted to take him on it again but he passed away, time is short and you and Bentley are making the most of it. Love this
What a great Dad, I wish my Dad had taken some time to show me all the things you are teaching your kids. This is so wholesome. Thank you Derek.
“City’s looking like a ghost town on a moonlit summer night” got Garth brooks singing in my head straight off the intro now 👌
Big shout out to Hensley Transmission! Thank you for keeping VGG on the road.
Its trips like these that your son will remember. I feel like I'm reliving my childhood just watching this. still remember pulling over and having my dad whip out the giant map book throw it on the hood and try to figure out where we are.
Those where the days... when you had to take a sextant on a road trip 😛
Love this channel. Long time fan and still am! God Bless. Keep on truckn !!
Went on some trips like this with my Grandpa in his 72 Dodge p/u and in his square body Chevy. Big 10. Slept in the back at truck stops and in cheap motels. Loved every mile. He could fix anything. I sure miss him.
Great episode Dereck making memories with the little man 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Life is like a good set of headlights. Both have their highs and lows.
Very well put! 🤘🏽😎🔧🏁
The example you are setting for your kids is amazing. Frankly, for all of us. Some day your son will tell his kids about this trip with a smile. Love the videos. Keep up the good work!
It feels like a Saturday morning waking up to a VGG video 😁
The length of the video isnt as important as the awesome content, you and Bentley are living the dream even if it doesnt feel that way at 3am in the dark..
Keep it up sir 👌
I know you get this alot man. But you're a good dude. There's a lot of people who didn't have that growing up. I just wanna say thank you keep it up
5:28 I think the only silver lining was in that transmission pan lol. Love the videos dude. Hope to see the 56 Buick again one day
What a trip. And Bentley is a trooper. Massive days for the little fella. bloody Awesome!
Awesome to get a little assist from the folks!! That Trans shop in AR is fantastic. Glad you got the old lady fixed and rolling again.
