After the first season of Carroll's term as Seahawks coach, I was on vacation in Italy and while on a train talked to a guy from San Diego. We talked about football and he was concerned about the Chargers relocating (poor guy) but he was also a USC fan and assured me that Pete Carroll was going to do great things for my team. When we won the Superbowl I immediately thought about that conversation and I'm thinking about it now. Best coach our team ever had. Now because of his age I figured it was only a matter of time before we would get a new coach, but this still is hitting hard. Can't help but feel if we had beat the Steelers two weeks ago and got into the playoffs that maybe we would have gotten another year with Pete.
The Seahawks mattered with Holmgren and with Carroll and that coincidently means that we've mattered throughout the 21st century thus far. But I can't help but think of what the franchise was like before that. With a change like this you can't help but fear you go back into a dark age. Anyway, I'm suddenly much more interested in the coaching vacancies. This isn't the same as following Bill Belichick in New England but it's still a huge act to follow. Now I'm thinking of the possibility of Jim Harbaugh replacing Pete and how ironic that would be after all the bad blood between the two of them. Maybe Pittsburgh will lose on Sunday and they'll fire Tomlin and we can get him. With my luck Sirianni will get fired and we'll get stuck with him.

But the last 2-3 years hasn't been working. Sometimes, change is necessary. Hawks have to change everything. Mainly, let's become more offensive-minded; let's stop being so predictable in our offensive and defensive schemes; throw the ball more; go back to a 4-3 defense; stop relying on miracle 4th quarter wins after being down 2.5 scores the entire game; close out games in the 3rd quarter so you can have an easy 4th quarter; go for it more on 4th down; more discipline versus motivation. Let's get Dan Quinn, bring him back home.

I mean absolutely. As a diehard Hawks fan (and I was tuned in during the 90s, EVERY game, pissed my Dad couldn't find it on the radio) Pete Carroll is the best coach we've ever had. Two SBOWLs, won one, a powerhouse in the NFC for YEARS. Made fans of other NFC teams angry, etc. This was a great coach. He did amazing things and IMO he should be in the HOF. And SO SHOULD WILSON, WAGNER, SHERMAN, etc. These guys should all be there.
That said, time to let it go. I know it sucks, but stop taking off a Band-Aid that should've come off 3 weeks ago. Let's do it right. It has to end. The Patriots meanwhile, have not gotten this message (which is fantastic lol).

As a 12, for the last 14 seasons, weve always been a factor, and a team nobody was excited about playing. Always relevant, and easily a HOF'er.

As a Seahawks fan It was time. Also have to thank him for his tenure as Seahawks HC since 2010. He brought everything a fan could have asked for their team. Especially bringing a Super Bowl Championship to Seattle. you’re a legend & a HOFer in my book.

I'm a Commander's Fan. I will say Pete Carroll is an amazing coach who got productivity from his player's, who you would never expect too play at a competitive level 🎚️ ! Not many coaches can do this. Running 💨 up and down the sidelines in excitement at his age was incredible too watch! Hof coach 4sure! The league is now looking for younger coaches

He has that “college try” edge that makes the game unique
    Now I’m without a team
    I’m sad

@@einundsiebenziger5488 this is a UA-cam comment hahahah. Are you the grammar police for Rich? I didn’t know he had one of those.. I’m shocked to be graced by your presence. Next time I’ll write a rough draft and email it to you so I won’t be embarrassed like this ever again. I will miss Pete immensely. I have lived in Seattle my entire life and have met him twice throughout the years. I have amazing memories surrounding this organization and the players that filled these uniforms. Thanks for the input and I’m glad I could give you material to make your day meaningful! Cheers, Mr. Rich Eisen comment warrior! You are doing amazing!

Adam Schefter was right, 7-10 openings this year.
