This is a litmus test to see if the market is ready for Battlefront 3. If this has tons of interest that will green light the development of a Battlefront 3.
Super pissed about no crossplay. Not learning from EA’s F up!
Tho part of me agrees I can't help but wonder why they would need to test the market, battlefront has always printed money. It's not like with the remaster of red faction guerilla where the dev said they were using that to test the market. That franchise has never been huge, on top of that red faction Armageddon helped bankrupt the original dev. Even the poorly received battlefronts sold a high number.
There's cross gen play between the Playstation and xbox, so that PS4 users can play with PS5 and same with xbox
Just to let people know, there was never once a statement the game wouldn't have cross play. Crossplay was never mentioned in any press release. It would be a death sentence for a 20 year old game (that's depressing lol) to not have this feature, multiplayer lobbies will die fast. Especially when people get re-introduced to the Engineer/Sniper meta of BF2 lmao
I'm glad there's no crossplay, last thing I want to see is PC hackers in an Xbox or Switch lobby.
Disney has been bleeding money for quite some time. This is a safe, low risk - high reward cash grab. Something the company really needs more of right now.
Really great to see more battlefront content in 2024! So excited to play the online mode when it launches (assuming the servers don't catch fire)
I still would much rather have had BF2 2017 GET an update... I still think its criminal how they ended support for that game so that they could focus resources on Battlefield 2042

56GBs makes absolutely no sense when both of the backwards compatible games add up to 8GBs… and those are already upscaled with improved frame rate.

I really hope this will spark an uproar and demand for Free Radical's canceled SWBF3. That would be so awesome if they just did it already. I mean yeah we already have the Legacy mod for PC and Elite Squadron for the PSP, but I would love nothing more than the original project to finally see the light of day. In terms of cross platform, I would love to have it. Except maybe cut out PC bc we've had the mod tools for years and it could be really easy to cheat. Then again maybe there's something Aspyr could do to prevent cheating idk. Nonetheless I'm pretty excited

Also I should probably say or note, I've never played the classic versions. The 2017 variant was my entry point in the series!
Yeah brother, so there are no star cars, levels / ranks, unlocks, etc. I grew up with this one so based on my childhood memories it's definitely not gonna be a grind like BF2 (2017)
Five or six classes with no deviation across factions (empire and rebel "engineer" classes will have the same gun stats and work the same, just have a different skin)
The only classes with a deviation are the "special" classes which are unlocked upon achieving a certain amount of kills each game (resets each game), for examples (imperial officer, Clone Jet Trooper, Droideka, I don't remember any of the Rebel ones 😭)
Heroes are achieved in a game based on kills I believe, and it's a set hero for each map. Say, Vader on Death Star, or Boba Fett on Kamino.
3x is unnecessary as XP really isnt a thing gameplay wise basically
It's pretty bare bones, you want an assault class, you get a base gun, no options.
Same goes for sharpshooters, etc, etc.

I'm very excited for this game. Original BF2 was one of my favourite games.
Idea for a video is, if you can muster up 64 players to help you create a cinematic masterpiece with the 501st storyline in BF2.
Or playing Galactic Conquest and letting other players be on your team against someone you know and they have their own team of online players.
If I remember Galactic Conquest took a long time, like a game of chess, so you could make a series of videos for it.
Either way, looking forward to seeing more.

I hate that I even have to wonder; but the question on my mind is if the Switch version runs at 60fps? Should be an obvious yes for a games that are over 20 years old; but it seems to be a marketing decision in order to drive up (or down sales) of other version; to make the Switch version inferior in cases where it should not be a problem.

H v V on Kamino is going to be a freaking blast! I'm still playing the OG BFI and BFII alongside the BF2 (2017) all on PC. I can't imagine there is going to be a ton of difference other than the H v V and the couple extra maps. I wonder if those who already own both might get a discount like what Microsoft did with AOE2? Doubt it, but I guess we'll see.
Honestly. I own the OG games on Steam. But with the quality of life changes. I'd get that. It'll also be steam deck verified? Yes please and it'll have achievments? heck yes!

@@eddieram435there is no reason to believe this is more or less prone to hackers than a new BF3, it may be a port but it’s still re-engineered and any security holes can be patched up.

There is multiplayer progression but it’s very minimal it’s more like bragging rights rather and skill, the first game didn’t had it but the second one did but again it was very minimal 😂

I kinda just don't agree with the $35 price tag they're tying to it. They're not really doing anything outside of the bare minimum for these games, and it's ONLY the first two games. I would have no complaints about the price moreso if they included a revival and 'remaster' (60FPS, at least 720p resolution, dual analog support, better LOD/Draw distance, etc...) of Battlefront: Renegade Squadron and Elite Squadron with this bundle.
For context: You can grab BOTH Battlefront games right now, barring the console-exclusive DLC (which honestly you can just mod in for free, alongside the last two decades of released mods), on Steam for $20 outside of any sales.

Not likely, for the modding community the classic battlefront will not be likely delisted it will probably stay there so the modding community use it like the Star Wars remastered mod or legacy
