I'm glad you started this conversation, student potential in biomedical research is huge, but sadly not utilised enough. I co authored three papers during my med school, and one of them, which is basically analysis of usage of student's potential in biomedical research in my country, found it's way to pubmed. I really believe that students can benefit a lot from scientific work, at the same time giving a lot to the science with their work.
Research isn't all sunshine and rainbows. Especially the publishing process. The whole struggle will be worth it in the end once you can get a doctoral degree!
As a post-doc researcher in the area of Virtual Reality, its amazing seeing med-students doing research too :D I would love to read your papers Nasir :D
0:00 Oh my goodness, I am in love with this view. You should start using it as your new setup to begin your introduction to your videos. That exact spot!!
Simply loved the video. I was so interested to do research but I didn't get enough content or videos to get me started on my venture. Then this video came along and everything from the start till the end was so brilliant and informative. I am now confident to start on my research journey . All thanks to you !!!
Great video, most UA-camrs don't talk about publishing, as a PhD student (and also UA-camr), publishing is very important and necessary if you want to stay in academia.
Wow, thank you so much for all the tips, Nasir. Getting published has always been something I've wanted to do, even if it's so that I can increase my chances of getting into medical school. This is so informative. Good luck with the rest of med school!
“Stay away from those people who try to disparage your ambitions. Small minds will always do that, but great minds will give you a feeling that you can become great too.” If you reading this you will succeed it might be hard but keep glowing and growing
personally nasser, thanks for all the help you ar egiving every mediccal or scientific student or any other student watching you... This is first of all helpful... then it gives us optimistic thoughts and an optimistic way of thinking towards our goals in life! I wanted to say that for example for me it is interesting cause I study in Italy and in Italy things are quite different regarding all the steps of studies to ahieve to get to be a regular doctor. And discovering how it is out there opens our eyes
Love u kharma , i am from “India “, and i love seeing ur vlogs and productive video ,i just sit with books and copies while ur real time videos where i just copy u for taking breaks and study in big chunks of time . Ur videos are the really enjoyable and informative ❤️, this award goes to u 👉🏻🏆
Another helpful tip for undergrads is to look into honours degrees at your university. Honours degrees usually have built in year long research courses where you work on your own project and form a close relationship with the PI, so there is a publishing opportunity if you work for it!
EXCATLYYYYYYY THIS IS WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR .....FOR SOMONE TO EXPLAIN THESE RESEARCH PROGRAMS. SOOOO GLADDD ARIGATOO..😭....I AM CURRENTLY DOING BSC HONS.MICROBIOLOGY.🤠
i don't know anything about medical research can you please tell me how to make a research? if there is a coarse available online or something, anything that can help me to make research,
Cannot stress the importance of having a good mentor. During my final year of MPharm at KCL, I was given a mentor who honestly just left me in the lab, gave me no guidance and support. It was absolutely hell and probably one of the worst periods of my life. Very scary thinking that my final degree classification was dependent on this academic. Definitely build good relationships if you can.
Hey, not relevant to this video but I would love to hear about your study routine in the first couple years of medical school... I'm contemplating if I should look at the lectures slides before the lecture, do live lectures or only use recordings? Would be interesting to hear what was your routine on a daily basis. Thank you for your videos
This is helpful. I want to do research on grad school. I know one of my personal doctors works with the genetic syndrome I want to do research with. She is my specific doctor and I know she works with other grad students. I'm not ready yet to start grad school. However one of the questions on the Personal Statement is interest in research. Would I simply state what I want to do Research in or should I include the doctor I want to do Research with? Should I also talk with the doctor over email first? How would I start the email initially?
OMG , what are the chances of you uploading a video about this and me going to a workshop about research today, today was literally the first session 😶
haha 60 emails. ive sent out over 2000 this past month and gotten 2% responses back. just gotta grind and reach out to as many people as possible to maximize your chances of getting something
1) Get straight As in school 2) Get a very high UCAT & BMAT score 3) Create a UCAS account 4) Make a personal statement and get a reference 5) pick 4 medical schools and add their details into UCAS 6) Pray you get selected for interview
@@priyansh6187 So the UCAS application is cheap, you can pick a maximum of 4 medical schools in any given year and the application will cost you around 26 GBP The fee structure for each medical school is slightly different and you should check their respective websites for the most up-to-date information. In general international students will have to pay a lot more and so would require significant funding. For UK home students the fees are 9250 GBP per year, and for international they can easily go up to 36,000+ GBP per year! Normally students in the UK get funding from the government and so tuition fees are generally covered. Otherwise, you can normally choose to pay all the money at once or split the payment over the year in 3 installments. Do check the websites of the medical schools you are interested in for specific details
I hope you will answer, I contacted with my prof for a research and he asked me a CV. Obviously I don't have any experience because this is my first time so how can I write a good CV without experience like you did
omg! i'm amazed at how timely this video is! i'm on the process of publishing a research paper and have been completely lost! thanks for this!!!

@@Biomeducated Its not all roses yes, the publishing world is all about who you know and your h-index. But it can be worth it.
Hello. Could you please inform more about this and how you published in pubmed
