I was there!!!!!!! Dec 11 1987 in Buenos Aires, Argentina , I was one of the 60.000 souls singing with this genius. Amazing! unforgetable!!!!!!!

I remember watching this on TV when I was almost a teenager. I remember being alone in the living room, watching it, and feeling excited and happy. No one else understood how you felt and thought it was crazy. But thanks to stuff like this, I knew I needed to see more of the world, and I'm grateful for all the music that helped me see that there was so much more life than my small town, tiny town. I am glad I did not comply with all those who laughed at me. I love this. Remembering what I was and where I am now.

Annoying for bands like RUSH, when they start singing the melody of the songs louder than the PA. Cool in a way, but obnoxious when you're trying to watch a live video.

y en diciembre van a ser 30 años de aquella noche un viernes 11 de diciembre de 1987 en el estadio de river. mi primer recital. ahi en el campo casi adelante. mas de 60.000 personas y miles por television, lo paso en directo canal 13. al dia siguiente todo el mundo hablaba del recital de sting, por que emociono a todos y se vio un recital con alegria. este recital lo tengo guardado en mi corazon. como dijo sting al dia siguiente del recital en una entrevista: anoche fui feliz.
Fue inolvidable , cuando empezo Minu Cinelu le pegaba a un botellon raro que nos partia el pecho estando abajo del tablero, que manera de llorar, subieron las Madres, cantamos bailamos y fuimos felices nosotros tambien!! unico e irrepetible.

I was there!! I was just a 17y.o. kid. It was the very first presentation of Sting in Argentina, and also the beginning of the mega concerts of international artists in Buenos Aires.

Actually sting was performing in Argentina from as early as 1980 with the police. This is when he developed the huge following that stayed with him when he returned under the banner of being a solo artiste

Este concierto fue transmitido en directo por la tv abierta. Aqui no hubo ni post produccion ni edicion ni sobregrabaciones ni i-mac ni i-pad ni protools ni autotune, ni arriba ni abajo del escenario. Si no me equivoco la tv transmitió lo mismo que se veia en las pantallas del estadio de River, por lo que sospecho que los técnicos de la tv local no tuvieron que hacer más que enchufar los cables (uno de audio y otro de video) que el director de cámaras de Sting le dio al director de camaras del canal. Es obvio que la calidad audiovisual no es optima pero las ejecuciones de los musicos y la voz de sting son impecables.
Uno de los primeros shows que pude ver gratis recien empezaba a trabajar en radio.
Wow, I have seen many vids of concert audiences from Argentina and always thought they are the best, but never expected to see one from a Sting concert like this. Usually I see metal-rock/hard rock vids with crowds so into it, but this is awesome. I think I want a woman from Argentina...beautiful and fun...lol

aparte la buena onda de Sting, eran otros tiempos de tranquilidad para asistir a esos eventos masivos, hasta recuerdo a un policía acompañando la canción.
y hubo un policía que un momento del recital comenta: este tipo es un capo cantando; como dijiste eran otros tiempos.
no nos daba el cuero para ir al campo pero estuvimos en la tribuna del tablero y no existio mas nada, fue realmente inolvidable, viendo esto se me caen algunas lagrimas , que genial!!

How did they do the background vocals? That is Sting's voice in the background singing the counter melody during the chorus. How'd they do that? Was it sampled and played from a keyboard? Great performance from a great band all of whom are jazz musicians who can really play their instruments.

@@jbeleni Thanks for that suggestion. It prompted me to listen to this great clip again. However, the vocal section in the choruses "Oh Oh Oh Oh Oh" are definitely prerecorded. Just don't know how they synced it up like that. I think it's a sample that's played from a keyboard.
Those background vocales definitely sound like Sting himself, so I think you must be correct that they were sampled from the album and re-played live.
