I sneak my already popped nutritional yeast popcorn in the movies. I don't understand how/why people started thinking popping popcorn was such a difficult thing to do. It literally takes minutes and is so much better than microwaved popcorn.
I confess I use the blender. But I also put sesame seeds into the mix so blending is necessary. Also, I make a lot of seasoning at once, so it lasts for a few weeks of popcorn 😊
I made this 2 hrs after it premiered and ate it alllll. My previous attempts at popcorn seasoning failed because I was not drizzle drazzling correctly. Thanks Carla 🥰
Even though popcorn isn't my thing, the way Carla is so serious about it makes it so relatable it comes to a favorite snack. Can't wait to try out this recipe.
I have never felt more seen as a big bowl of popcorn for one, “more nutritional yeast, please”, scoop up all the seasonings gal myself. I’m so happy to be in this club with you!
I too think about popcorn daily & eat it almost daily. Dipping the kernels in the seasonings at the bottom - yes. Eating it in bed - yes. Sticking to me and in every nook & cranny when I get up - yes. This is the popcorn recipe I needed, so glad to have landed here!
Dear Carla, I have enjoyed your recipes for years and for the first time I think I can tell you something worth trying. One night, we tried rosemary popcorn, which appeared to fail completely as it was added to the pot during popping and (in hindsight, obviously) all it did was stick to the pan. Yet the result was staggeringly delicious. It had been perfumed by the aromatic! Now, I use whole sprigs of rosemary or fresh bay leaves regularly. Once I even did a chicken soup flavored popcorn: Nothing during popping, but after popping return it to the pot *on a steamer basket* with celery seeds, a sprig of thyme, and a couple of bay leaves (go HARD on the bay leaf in any way and it's crazy delicious). Not much heat, maybe 5 minutes? Use your nose. Then toss with salt, onion powder (much less than you used garlic powder), parm (or the substitution I assumed you'd prefer), and some very well patted dry fresh flat parsley. Does it taste like chicken noodle soup? Freakishly so. Is that in any way desirable for popcorn? Somehow also yes, and again freakishly so.
I've never met anyone who likes popcorn more than me...until now! Love seeing this and the awesome recipe. Nutrition yeast at the movies is a requirement!
CARLA! I was always ashamed of my popcorn spice scooping, and here you are, telling me this is optimal popcorn enjoyment. 😂 I will never hang my head over my popcorn bowl in shame again. 💜
I'm slowly finding all my favorite bon appetit chef's channels because I've wondered where they've gone after they left and it's making me so happy. you and Molly were my favorites there and I just found both your channels. this makes my heart so happy.
Perfect method and seasonings! I have found perfection! I used coconut oil to pop the white corn kernels and the nutritional yeast, salt, evoo, and garlic powder was the perfect umami flavor! I’m HOOKED! Thank you Carla!!
I'm so happy to see I'm not a popcorn freak after all and I'm not the only one obsessed with popcorn! Thanks for this video Carla! I can't wait to give this recipe a try!
Absolutely salute you. I have never witnessed anything like this video. I am an occasional popcorn muncher but your passion as viewed on this video has me thinking i may need popcorn as my new bestie.
Thank U so much. I am a huge fan of pop corns too. I even do not share the whole batch with my. kids. I ordered the missing ingredients right away. I cannot wait!!!
This is crazy how close to my personal popcorn seasoning this is! I can attest to its deliciousness. My one difference is I use a lemon pepper with MSG in it.
The passion for the popcorn makes me so happy! My kids and I were underwhelmed by air popped popcorn last week and this is the tutorial we needed for movie night tonight! 🤩🙌🏻✨😋
I make popcorn almost the exact same way with a "recipe" I made up, the only difference is Cayenne and spicy smoked paprika instead of the chilli Flakes. I really want some now 🤤
I love popcorn too!! My mom ate a lot of it when she was pregnant with me. It is literally my favorite snack, sometimes meal. Lol Thank you for sharing.
I have never really been a huge fan of popcorn but I am a massive fan of your enthusiasm for popcorn, Carla. As with all your videos, this was a delight to watch. Thanks!
Carla, I absolutely adore you. I have one of your books, and I love all your videos from Bon Appetit. And I love making popcorn on the stove, I am so very excited to try this! You are an absolute powerhouse/goddess/culinary knowledge guru. Thank you!
That looks yummy . . . I also like dill weed, sriracha, lemon juice in a fine spray, powdered parm and occasionally a little honey or maple syrup. The hot sauce and the honey make a nice combo. Thank you for sharing! 🙂
Ah! I'm so glad someone else thinks that's just the right amount for one serving :) I love how much you love popcorn, Carla. I also add parmesan cheese to mine, which my family thinks is monstrous. They don't know what they're missing!!
I knew there was a reason I loved you so much. Popcorn is also my favorite food, and to no shame, I use 1/2 a cup of popcorn. I just like eating it with butter or cracker pepper and Parmesan cheese :) thanks for this recipe I will try it for sure!!!
The magic sprinkles from your tempura fried veg recipe are amazing on popcorn! Salt, pepper, aleppo, MSG, lemon zest. Plus olive oil to provide stickage.
Man. I’m such an asshole. I run a very intense large team nationwide and am forced to keep 1,000’s of employees on there toes and reaching there goals. It’s very stressful and can ruin anyones purity and positivity on life. When I stumbled on this video tonight I truly felt comfortable. Made me laughed a lot. I started breathing again. It was very cute, I loved the realness. Her laugh. She’s adorable . The passion is Alive in Her you can see and feel it. This is why it’s so important to be real. For real connections. An audience who respects you and is willing to come back to you undoubtedly.
I've been air popping daily for years but had some peanut oil left over from the holiday beignets so I did my best to copy this recipe without any measurements. It was delicious! Even my baby-mouthed family loved it. I even bought nutritional yeast for the first time ever. Didn't have Aleppo pepper but Mrs. Dash's Southwestern Chipotle mix worked fine. If anything I could go heavier on the oil and spices.
She's not wrong. For YEARS i ate stovetop popcorn with my own seasonings every single night after dinner & before bed, sometimes I ate popcorn FOR dinner honestly love it
I just met you and you are speaking my language with everything popcorn. I know now I need to level up my game and literally have all these seasonings in my online shopping cart! 😂
When I was a little girl we would go buy vegetables from a local farmer. He would grow his own popcorn and have a popcorn dinner every Friday night. Well throughout the years I have had my share of popcorn and tomato juice dinners a nod to the old farmer. But I really want to start applying it big-time this winner on Saturday night. I’m with Jesus but still a Jew. So at the end of Shabbat I would love to have my popcorn dinner! So I am glad to have this recipe.
I agree with your friend, I use a pestle and mortar to gring my spice blend (I do nooch, garlic granules, smoked paprika, black pepper, salt) and it adheres pretty well even without oil.
Just made this and omg so yum! I was skeptical about the olive oil because I generally prefer the flavor of butter but it paired so well with all the other spices, thanks!! 💜
i make popcorn like this on the stove top cuz my grandmam taught me :) i melt some butter in the oil then add the cornels. i should try to coad them with oil before heating the oil, good tip!
Dad always said throw a kernel in the pot and add oil 2/3 -3/4 of the way up on the kernel. Makes sense, as if we use cup measurements it would depend on the largeness of the pan, how high the oil comes up on the kernel. He also said get the oil really hot before adding the popcorn, "just as it's about to smoke". He was a farmer who raised popcorn and was the best popper around! I'm 78, and still hear him directing me as I learned to pop corn.
You are so right. It was July 4 yesterday, and when I heard the fireworks, I said: it sounds like popcorn popping. I have been popping a lot of corn lately.
I totally get it, because I will choose a crunchy, salty and/or umami snack over a sweet dessert any day. There is no amount of chips or Doritos that is too much for me, and I will be 100% trying this one!
I didn't have aleppo pepper so I used chilli spice I had and wow, these are so good, I can't stop eating them! thanks for this recipe! (I think, ha ha)
Who else sneaks nutritional yeast into the movie theater, be honest
Will now
I sneak my already popped nutritional yeast popcorn in the movies. I don't understand how/why people started thinking popping popcorn was such a difficult thing to do. It literally takes minutes and is so much better than microwaved popcorn.
holy crap genius move
Every. Single. Time.
I don’t go to the movies. Too many people in there. But if I did, nutritional yeast would be a must.
this entire video proves exactly why carla is amazing at her craft.. 10 minutes of enthusiasm about popcorn... I friggin love it
Petition to get Carla a bigger bowl for tossing popcorn.
She would just use the overhead to make more popcorn
Bigger bowl, for sure! I guess she just wants to sample the “spillage”
Love me some popcorn!
Paper bag makes a perfect mixing vessal. Pour it in shake it around.
@@TheEricBooth That's the way my mom does it! Old school 😎
Or split the batch...season and combine
I don’t think I’ve ever heard someone speak about popcorn the way I feel about popcorn. This brought me so much joy. 🍿 ❤
I’m with you, I don’t think ever related to a video more than this one
I love that pulling out the blender is the line carla has when it comes to popcorn!
I confess I use the blender. But I also put sesame seeds into the mix so blending is necessary. Also, I make a lot of seasoning at once, so it lasts for a few weeks of popcorn 😊
@@andrecanis4894 Sesame seeds!!!! That's incredible. My favourite seed/nut
You could also use a small spice/coffee grinder!
I made this 2 hrs after it premiered and ate it alllll. My previous attempts at popcorn seasoning failed because I was not drizzle drazzling correctly. Thanks Carla 🥰
I started popping my own popcorn a year ago and it is far more superior than microwave popcorn. It taste 100x better and its easy and fast to make.
That happy little Carla giggle is so endearing, it makes me smile every time in every video
Even though popcorn isn't my thing, the way Carla is so serious about it makes it so relatable it comes to a favorite snack. Can't wait to try out this recipe.
When you talk about using the bottom third of the popcorn as seasoning scoopers -- I've never felt so seen!!!!! 10/10 the best part of the bowl
I have never felt more seen as a big bowl of popcorn for one, “more nutritional yeast, please”, scoop up all the seasonings gal myself. I’m so happy to be in this club with you!

POPCORN PROCRASTINATION i am literally 100% for this and will now implement it into my daily routine 😍😍
We just put this seasoning on smashed potatoes and brussel sprouts! Amazing!!!

Wait till you see Claire saffitz "dessert person", it's magic! , Rick and solah also have great videos out with other channels.
You had the perfect description for the way we all use popcorn to scrape the spice garden at the bottom of the bowl *chef’s kiss*
Perfect method and seasonings! I have found perfection!
I used coconut oil to pop the white corn kernels and the nutritional yeast, salt, evoo, and garlic powder was the perfect umami flavor! I’m HOOKED!
Thank you Carla!!
This has made me so happy! I’m not the only one that eats a family size bag of popcorn!
This is the best CLM video. The passion is real.
She’s so serious about this popcorn I love it
You are a woman after my own heart! 🍿💕
I'm so happy to see I'm not a popcorn freak after all and I'm not the only one obsessed with popcorn! Thanks for this video Carla! I can't wait to give this recipe a try!
I make mine with lemon pepper seasoning, thyme, and red pepper flakes.

Carla knows how to live and I will listen. *currently sitting with a bowl of sweet caradom and pepper pop corn.*

Spice garden! Love it lol

Verbally, the best ep, so far. WAY out of the park. 💕
This video was absolutely lovely to watch. Thank you for sharing! :)
Great recipe. Tried it tonight with the family and everyone was scooping out the spices at the end. Highly recommend.
I’m with you! All the way!
You are my new spirit animal.

The best video ever!!!!
Lol I love this. Yes! Nutritional Yeast
Ok I have made this SEVERAL times since this came out and can confirm - best pop ever
I buy nooch both powdered and flaked...i absolutely switched to powdered on popcorn...I love that you're a nooch person💚
So awesome that you bring nutritional yeast to the movies. Hilarious. And I'm stealing that.
I make popcorn almost the exact same way with a "recipe" I made up, the only difference is Cayenne and spicy smoked paprika instead of the chilli Flakes. I really want some now 🤤
I made this and it was great. I used garlic powder and didn't have MSG and it was still super yum.
Oh and I had kernels left unpopped.
Best episode yet!
I love popcorn too!! My mom ate a lot of it when she was pregnant with me. It is literally my favorite snack, sometimes meal. Lol Thank you for sharing.

That looks yummy . . . I also like dill weed, sriracha, lemon juice in a fine spray, powdered parm and occasionally a little honey or maple syrup. The hot sauce and the honey make a nice combo. Thank you for sharing! 🙂
I tried the homemade sweet and spicy bbq rub I make on my last batch of popcorn. Yum.
Glad this came up in my recommendations, I missed you / the gang 🥺
Ah! I'm so glad someone else thinks that's just the right amount for one serving :) I love how much you love popcorn, Carla. I also add parmesan cheese to mine, which my family thinks is monstrous. They don't know what they're missing!!

FINALLY someone who makes and eats popcorn the way I do!! 🥰🍿
This popcorn is a revelation and you are a joy!
Yay the star stickers are back!!
Agree about the bottom of the bowl is the best part. Try furikaki seasoning. It's really good on popcorn too.
I love love love this video!
One of my favorite adds to popcorn is wasabi furikaki. And, yes, all these furikaki that falls to the bottom is the best.
Quite interesting! Having grown up in the Midwest and eating alot of popcorn, I am still a butter and salt girl!
Popcorn is a major food group for sure. Off to the store tomorrow to get nutritional yeast
I relate so much to Carla's ways.
I tried them and the olive oil made it a no no. Need to try it with butter though cuz the spices were 👌
This looks amazing!
Love popcorn, besides butter and salt and lots of it, my favourite seasoning is black truffle oil and Parmesan cheese yummmmmmmm
Also, I heard from an old farmer neighbor to try popping popcorn in bacon grease, it's great, definitely recommend.
There's a place in Chinatown that sells popcorn popped in duck fat.
She's not wrong. For YEARS i ate stovetop popcorn with my own seasonings every single night after dinner & before bed, sometimes I ate popcorn FOR dinner honestly love it

Hello Carla, I like your video. Popcorn is my favorite snack.
Sent from Miami, Florida
Popcorn is such a rare treat for me because I'd literally eat enough to make myself sick unless someone physically stops me
Just made this and omg so yum! I was skeptical about the olive oil because I generally prefer the flavor of butter but it paired so well with all the other spices, thanks!! 💜
