  • This video shows how to do an easy and inexpensive repair to an air fryer that doesn't even turn on. The problem may be the activation switch. Replacing the switch is the fix that makes this air fryer work again. The replacement part number is KW3-02.

My air fryer stopped working on middle of chicken wings been done. Found this helpful vedios. Took screws off open it. The problem was just the nob on switch. When putting tray. It looks like it doesn't engage enough to start fryer up.Wiggle the nob couple time .plug it in to test and voila it worked. Finishing air frying the chicken wings not. Back in service. Thanks a lot. Made my day.

Ok people, for those who replaced the switch actuator and your air fryer is still not powering up here is most likely the problem, and even better the solution that will cost you NOTHING.
For reference I own the PowerXL vortex air fryer.
Great unit, has worked flawlessly for us over three years.
I took this guys advice and bought the actuator switch on Am*zon. However before replacing it I tested the original and it clicked just like the new one.
BEFORE you switch it out, learn how it operates. There will be a mount on which the actuator button sits.
(Different models may vary but they kinda work the same way)
Here is the best part: No need to buy a switch, and you don't have to remove the original switch.
The secondary piece has a vertical striker that, when you insert your basket will push the button therefore powering up your unit. It's a little piece of plastic that will loosen over time.
What you want to do is insert a VERY THIN piece of tape ( I used a small piece of aluminum foil ) between the vertical striker and the actuator button.
I did this with great success!
You may have to wait experiment with how thin or thick of a piece of tape in order for it to make better contact.
TRY THIS BEFORE YOU BUY A NEW SWITCH.
Having said that keep in mind results may vary.
might as well add that this is merely a suggestion and I cannot be held responsible for any negative results.
    Good luck!
P.S.- to the author, maybe pin this?

Thanks so much for this video. It proved very helpful. Normally close (NC) option.
I just want to comment that when looking for the part, apart from knowing the part number, the option should be for normally close. This is very important because if one buys the normally open option, it will not work for this appliance. I bought the normally open (NO) option and it worked in reverse. In other words, when you plug the air fryer, it energizes without the bucket, and when the bucket is engaged, the system goes off because it is normally open.
So, the buyer should ensure he or she selects the normally close version.

My unit was working until about a week ago; the fan doesn’t circulate anymore. There is power to the unit, but the fan does not rotate anymore

Same. The "OFF" display stays onn also when you turn it off and the heating element does not get hot. No fan or heat. This was AFTER I cleaned it up. With water. Idk if i damaged it or not, gonna let it dry though.

My Power Airfryer XL is new, only 2 months old and it went out, is it possible that the switch went out in just 2 months. I can't use the normal screw driver too. Thanks for any reply.

I had two of these that went dead after a month or so. The switch tested good on both. It must be something else inside. Looks like they had a run of a bad component at some time

I was wondering that it was something other than the switch. I'm on my second fryer and its gone dead also. I checked the first one and the switch was good,

@@garyk.8674 I changed the switch & still nothing. Where do you find the thermal fuse? No fuse in the plug or where the plug is under the unit. My air fryer is on 4 months old.....

@@ellensonnier3556 you have to watch some of the youtube videos to know what is needed to locate. you have to take the fryer down to its innards. It resembles a small spark plug with a coupe of wire to it. I had my receipt and brought mine back to Target, no questions asked. Two times. The Power XL brands have the problem.
