  • In this video, we take a look at the handheld commercial battery powered blower from Stihl, the Stihl BGA-100. This is the top of the range, most powerful battery blower currently on offer from Stihl. Power wise it sits somewhere between the petrol BG86C and the BR600 backpack blower.

Ive been using this blower with the older AR900 battery and I love it. The battery still holds around 80% of its charge which is good after 4 years. I'm currently experimenting with the HLA85. I just uploaded a video of it in action. I love it over the petrol counterpart.

Ramon Mendoza Yeah the battery tools are great mate and they are only going to get better as we go forwards 👍🏻

Does Stihl offer the belt + battery as an option versus the backpack? Just curious for smaller (non-commercial) jobs.

Yes they do mate, the blower gets through the AP300 batteries pretty quickly mind. But good for the smaller jobs for sure 👍🏻

@@lovelawns how quick do you think? I was thinking of getting the bga 100, the fsa130r and rma510. buying 3 of the ap300s batteries and keeping one on charge at any one time on an inverter in the car and running the car for a minute between each charge.

Zac Johnson the blower will use up the ap300 in about 15 minutes of continued use. The 130r will give you about 45 mins continuous. I’m not sure about the mower will cut about 3 to 4 average lawns on the ap300. These are all a estimates mind as it depends on loads of variables. You might need a few more batteries. The AP300s would be the go for the smaller batteries. Or the backpack for the handheld tools and then 4 ap300s batteries for the mower but you know your lawns better than me. If you can get enough charge into them in-between jobs or use customers power to charge you might be good. I don’t like using customers power much as it’s inconvenient plugging the charger in for both me and them. All the customers say it’s fine but I’d rather not personally.

@@lovelawns I know exactly what you mean, I would rather not ask either, unless maybe they had an external plug somewhere. But that alone cannot be relied on. Thanks for the estimates, that still helps. So far I'm thinking I will just need enough batteries for the day and charge it all up in the evening.

Zac Johnson that’s what I do. I don’t have solar or inverter setup yet. Works for me but I also still use the petrol tools for some jobs, like lots of blowing I use the BR600 for example

all day with the one battery backpack? that's amazing. I was expecting it to be absolutely necessary to have multiple batteries.

Zac Johnson yeah depending on how much of each tool you use and how many properties in a day. It’s hard to say how much run time you personally will get out of them but generally for a standard day solo operator getting through about 12 to 15 normal size properties you should get a days use out of the backpack battery for sure.

@@lovelawns that's amazing, that's much more then what I would estimate going by their estimates in the catalogue. as that the ar1000 or 3000 by the way?
stihl is doing $200 off second backpack so maybe 2x ar1000 would be the way to go to get started at least. just ocky strap one to the rma510v lol.

Zac Johnson that would be e AR1000 the AR3000 is too big and heavy in my opinion. Better off with 2 AR1000 if you can afford it. 👍🏻
