The world needs more Chris Morris projects.
Definitely!
Projects being the optimum word. The guy is a shill, a disinfo agent. This is all BS... don't get fooled!
@@rebootthematrix if you think Chris Morris is working for any large agenda, that shows a hilariously poor understanding of the man's work. This is a man who frustrates and questions power. Seriously, do your research!
@@rebootthematrix What nonce sense.
Reboot The Matrix what
he'd never admit it himself, but Morris is a bona fide genius...
Only a Northern Cyclist yes, he’s the thinking man’s John Malkovich. 😶
I could caricature these british snobs who think they are so superior to americans because they have haughty accents and don't punish criminals.
@@Graham-gt4gr I could point out that the interpretation of an accent is subjective, and Americans with guns are killing and maiming each other to the tune of 100,000 per year, 300 per day 🤷🏻♂️
A FACT: alone and tumbling through Infospace. Without help it could vanish forever... because only THIS (Chris Morris appears) can make it a NEWS.
@@Graham-gt4gr I could caricature these idiots that feel threatened by intelligence. I notice the American actors in this film didn't feel as though Morris was trying to seem "superior" to them or condescend them in any way. Seems like the problem is your own. Go educate yourself instead of becoming annoyed at others who have already done so.
Who else is watching this while smashed off their bassoon on cake?

@pixel girl
...oh indeed. Even though at 82½yrs of old my doctor has informed me that my daze of time distorting cake mixed with the occasional magic monkey dust are seriously long gone!
I in turn informed him that he is perfectly within his own rights to mind his own business.

Four Lions was an underrated masterpiece, hoping the same for this. Chris needs to direct more films
You are hoping this is also underrated?
@@kelpkelp5252 yeah I realised that after commenting. More like "it most probably will be"!
everyone who has seen it loves it though? I guess many more people need to watch it
Kelp Kelp your comment is underrated
I agree on Four Lions. This is OK... It's not as funny or impactful, but it isn't bad. It's been more interesting listening to Morris talk about it than watching it though.
Chris Morris is one of the greatest creative artists of all time.
I really loved Marchant in this role.
And Chris was definitely born with the right software. I feel like he really underrates what he's given to the world.
Chris Morris is such a Legend
Today is the day for the return for the The day today
Speak your brains.
Because fact into doubt won't go. And fact times importance equals news.
THIS IS THA NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
We've lost the news!!
How could it not?
A great comedian and a great journalist rolled into one.. i'm happy he still has a megaphone
Chris Morris is far too nuanced for that nonsense.
Marchánt Davis was fantastic in this. The final scene really grips you and he conveys so much through his eyes.
From the interview here you wouldn’t believe you were watching a satire or dark comedy, you’d think it was a Spike Lee-esque political thriller? But that’s the genius of Chris Morris- the dark lord of British television. If I met him in person, I’d be terrified but mesmerised!
Marchánt did an incredible job in this film
Give Chris Morris the money to finance the projects he wants to make and he will give you quality.
The Day Today needs to come back. The time is so right.
It would go broke. All the awesome effort it made, the sound and camera filters, the getting the right graphic, the tiny little subtle things that probably cost a fortune but for a seconds, often unnoticed glory ,case in point, the graphic for the football scores, where it was a footballer spitting and the flob of spit expanded to act as the scoreboard, I had watched it many times before noticing. It was the class and taste of doing things like that and effort they put in that makes it aeons ahead of the Mash Report and other pale imitators. It has too many fake imitators that go for the easy route. TDT was the all time benchmark, I think the world needs it, like you. However, I think the world will just go for the cheaper option rather than the sheer brilliance of Armando and Chris. What a powerhouse. I met Armando at Cheltenham Literature Festival, and managed a couple of minutes chat with him. One of the highlights of my life. His own sketch show was an underappreciated gem
@D_S_C we already have Have I Got News For You, Mock The Week and The Mash Report!!
Fabulous film, it deserves to be seen by as many people as possible!
Congratulations to all involved!!!
Chris Morris is a gift from God.
So excited. Chris' humour is genius and 4 lions was utter brilliance
The guy is a legend.
Chris needs to write and perform himself again! bring back The Day Today or Brass Eye!!!!
It's Denholm Reynholm. He started with only two things in his possession: A dream and six million pounds.....
He is, the *greatest* man, *_in the world._*
I watched this tonight. This is such a wonderful film. Of course I am preaching to the coverted here, but watch this film. It's exceptional.
Surely the FBI should be held to account for this injustice. Can't wait to see the film
Yes, they definitely should. And don’t call me Shirley.
Yeah someone should call the FBI to report the FBI to the FBI.
The problem with security services is they are completely un-elected, anonymous and practically unaccountable for anything. The British Secret Service was exposed 20 years ago as having just faked a load of "evidence" that Iraq had WMDs in order to facilitate the British government sending our forces in with the US. It was exposed as all made up and yet nothing ever happened. It just got forgotten about. Security services have themselves portrayed in movies and on tv as James Bonds saving the world secretly while everyone is against them.. yet in reality they are utterly corrupt and immoral organisations in bed with top politicians and big businesses lying, making things up, murdering people when it suits them and never being questioned or held accountable for anything. Run by un-elected officials who are in power for decades at a time.
An ex-SAS soldier spoke about what MI6 actually did in Iraq when gathering "intelligence" on insurgents. It wasn't 007 or anything even remotely professional, it was a bunch of public school morons sent into Iraq with wads of cash asking for information on anyone who might be an insurgent. The result of this was 99% completely made up nonsense by poor locals desperate for a few hundred dollars cash so they said literally anything to get the money - telling them their neighbour who they didn't like might be an insurgent etc. Thousands of men were arrested, many sent to US interrogation camps for months and years on end and it turned out nearly all of them were completely innocent people, nothing whatsoever to do with any terrorism. Their homes were destroyed and ransacked by the special forces, their families dragged off to other camps and so on. Meanwhile special forces soldiers such as Ben Griffin began to realise that while they were becoming the Gestapo what was actually happening in Baghdad was fleets of businessmen from oil and other industries were going in and snatching up all the business they could take.
A good talk on all this is on UA-cam, called, "The Making of a Modern British Soldier" by Ben Griffin - ex-Parachute Regiment and 22nd Special Air Service. ua-cam.com/video/6tHvtFibhic/v-deo.html
@@DM-kv9kj MI5 and MI6 are totally unaccountable as you write. The most publicised murder in Northern Ireland is the Human Rights Solicitor, Pat Finucane, on orders of Thatcher's Government in 1989, using the Ulster Defence Association.
@@DM-kv9kj Sounds like a great time.
Looks brilliant. Well done Chris Morris.
Chris Morris needs to make 10x as many films as he does right now.
blue jam. the most original peice of radio ever produced. blue jam , radio 1 BBC
jim is i I wish more people appreciated Blue Jam, it really was incredible
I can never tell if Chris Morris is being serious or mocking directors
Chris Morris - keep doing this stuff please - thank you
The madness of the powerful is endlessly indulged, while the sanity of the poweless is grounds for their confinement.
I have always found Chris Morris to be ahead of the cutting edge of media... For example, take a look at The Day Today and Brasseye... That looked silly then, but you compare it to news and documentaries today and they emulate perfectly what Morris satirised, from the use of graphics and reconstructions of events to the tone and language used. I can't wait to watch this
Nathan Barley was prophetic.
Nice to see Tom's brother making something of his life at last.
This “Comedy” had great humour, but more importantly, great pathos. Well done Chris, the final scene was incredible....
Thanks for the spoiler
Thanks lex for the spoiler please don’t ruin films for peoppe
Edited: 🤦🏼♂️
Because it’s realistic! It may seem like it’s a satire or lighthearted comedy of sorts but I thought of it as a tragedy akin to an American, racially-charged, straight-faced JAM
"When roped to concrete, and noose your bauble for car-powered head divorce, then find your scheme all twunted by a Honda."
It’s a great, great film .... thank you all!
I would watch Johnny Vegas examining his haemoroids if Chris Morris directed it.
looking forward to Chris's autobiography, read by himself.
I’m definitely watching this.
Please Chris Morris write and make a film on James Earl Ray. Then you can show the world the monstrous relationship between the FBI and civil rights.
Just watched it - brilliant film - incredibly disturbing and distressing
Very very clever fella, cross between the joker, a serial killer and the singing Detective.
“Unarmed black man, unarmed white man, who’s more likely to have a gun?”.
That’s such a fucking smart line that illustrates a lot of racial paranoia. I’m excited to see this
Moses has a Lego-man haircut.
Chris Morris needs constant funding for endless projects, the world needs this dudes vision
Closer to reality than even the best Black Mirror episodes.

The best Black Mirror episode was the one where the serial killer dropped bricks off tall buildings into the heads of people who are looking at their phones.
9'03" is heartbreaking in its accuracy.
Genius
I am an unapologetic sycophantic fan boy
Have loved all his work and only wish there was more of it .
But as the saying goes it’s quality not quantity and I know when Morris does do something it’s perfect
Film4 when will this be released on DVD/Blu Ray please?
As a roboplegic wrongcock, I am both dizzgusted and amazed at what is being conveyed in this viddyrant.

I really wonder if the occasionalness of Morris' output is based on him finding it hard to get secured funding sorted, or if he just takes this long to put all this stuff together?
(You can tell he's the kindof chap who revels in the finickyness of a project - lucky / unlucky for us!)
I think he kind of answered that himself in this interview, when he talks about being born "with the wrong software". It definitely has to do with his process of creation.
This is so fucking AMAZING. He's fucking lightyears ahead.
this is the neeeewwwwwwww film from Chris Morris
Return of the master 🙌🏻
"Chris has a specific eye", a brass eye it would happen.
"The threat signature of a hot dog." lol
Did I see this on More 4?
this guy is so overwhelmingly commanding he could start a cult
clive ramsbotty he did say in that clip he'd invented a religion for this film
I’d dig it.

I watched the film recently and it was great but, the trailer combined with the in depth, prerelease explanation made it feel as if I'd seen it already.
seems like a great film
I fucking love Chris Morris
Chris does have a very specific eye, very brass
I’m curious but it seems a bit crazy to be based on real events. I’ll have to try see it.

Anyone interested in this should also watch a talk, available here on UA-cam, by and ex-Para and SAS soldier called, "The Making of a Modern British Soldier". ua-cam.com/video/6tHvtFibhic/v-deo.html He talks about what British SIS (MI6) did in their so called "intelligence gathering" in Iraq, what the special forces did and his eventual realisation that he was no longer serving an elite special forces regiment protecting Queen and country, but was being used by big business and US command as basically a Gestapo hit squad and speaks very well about his life leading him to that point and how easily he was suckered in.
That's not a horse it's a spherical cow.
check out blue jam
Loved the movie and the actors...but the ending is unsettling...sequel...can Black Santa Rise??? Or does the Police State have us in Checkmate???
Seconded.
If Moses was delusional the entire movie would not have worked. Chris hit the right balance.
"Unarmed white man, unarmed black man? Which one of them is more likely to have a gun?!"
It's not a line that should ever be spoken, without the listener bursting out laughing. It IS funny. And yet here we are, listening to REAL cops REALLY saying this, with no irony or satire in their voices.
5:53. If someone said that about me, I'd feel wonderful.
The scenes with Moses etc were great and Marchant puts in an excellent performance. I just wish the FBI stuff had been sharper and more consistent as it makes for a *very* unbalanced film.
@Hamish Munroe Sharp: intense, piercing, precise. In writing, to effectively convey a point. Contrast with dull.
@Hamish Munroe I haven't seen the film. I'm responding to the false statement that those words mean nothing in the context of writing.
@Hamish Munroe I thought the FBI scenes were all over the place tonally and comedically, and it wasn't really clear what they were in the film for (other than the obvious reasons). There you go. I'm not sure why you thought I was trying to "be clever". I didn't say anything particularly esoteric, did I?
@Hamish Munroe Your failure to understand the comment, does not mean it does not make sense. Allan's intent was perfectly clear to me and I haven't even seen the scenes in question. I suspect infact, you know perfectly well what the intent was, you simply disagree.
@Hamish Munroe If you genuinely can't see the irony of that statement then we aren't communicating at all. C'est la vie.
How easy on the eye is Marchánt Davis?! 🤤
Haha, he's my favorite actor now. I wish to see him more often on other shows.
YES
this has been on the no agenda podcast for YEARS.

I'm super uncomfortable with all the seemingly straight-forward and open Chris Morris material we've been getting in the past few days. It feels unnatural, and I can't open myself up to believe that he's being honest with the camera.
I never seen Marchant as a first name before
Did Chris do this interview on the same day as the Channel 4 interview with Jon Snow? He's wearing exactly the same clothes. Same tie, same shirt, same crumpled brown coat.

I'm wondering if the unironed brown interview suit is his 'look' or if he just dug it out of a heap of clothes from the bottom of a cupboard, because he gets so little use out of it and knew he'd get away with it?
his mind works on a much higher level than paltry issues like self image.
@@bushiido8494 Einstien used to have 7 brown suits for each day of the week so that he didn't have to waste any brain power deciding what to wear. Morris has gone that extra step and not even bothered ironing his!

Morris undoubtedly a genius-level comedic talent and The Day Today and particularly Brass Eye will forever be the gold standard for comedy as far as I am concerned. However he is also sadly a bit of an SJW these days and might not mesh well with Joe.

Davis was really good in it and the Actress that played his wife , the pair were very engaging . What let it down was the FBI portrayal ...way too farcical , there is nothing farcical about what the FBI is doing ,it is a carefully thought out deeply cynical 'cold as stone' strategy ...and that was missing from the film ,when it should have been central to it .
