I was watching this video, wanted to see the comments, then noticed the amount of views this video has. I thought this was by a channel with at least 10k subs. You'll get there soon with such high quality content!
I keep seeing their advertisements on social media, and I hate how bs it all is. As someone who has a 90s camcorder and a few 35mm slr cameras, I know this doesn't capture it. Even commented on one of their UA-cam videos regarding them trying to say a 35mm dlr is way more expensive to use than this crap 😂. Glad to actually see a legit video about this product
I can confirm that this is unfortunately an overpriced drop ship camera. It's an OEM model called the "Y4000" and it's all over the internet under many different "brands". Fun fact, there's also older and less capable models called "Y3000" and "Y2000".
Thanks to you, I almost fell for this! You saved me. And I agree with many people who commented on your great editing skills and highly underrated content. You are doing great ! Keep it up. ❤
Man this was terrific! You’ve got a great thing going here, keep it up! Also saved me some time and money, I also like the nostalgic feeling of older media but we’ve kind of moved too far past it to be as convenient as we’d like it to be. Still I’ll keep looking thanks again for your review.
Just saw the ad on IG and immediately knew they were just using actual analog footage. You can't get that too look as real as it does in the add without proper analog. And voila, the ad was a scam. No surprises here...
Thank you, this video saved me from buyer's remorse. Is there a suitable option for recording with that classic camcorder aesthetic on modern equipment?
@@heartattackphil Will do bud! I left a negative comment on the Retrosnap Insta and they deleted it. Left another one and they've blocked me. Absolute scammers 🤣
Is there any actual good options that give that vibe, or would I just be better off getting an old camera? If just getting one of those old camcorders, what one would you recommend?
@@GarethMcD-zq8ei It depends on your budget and how comfortable you are with old tech. For that authentic 90s vibe, check out the Sony Handycam dcr-trv series (like the trv120) or the Panasonic pv-l550. I'm fairly certain the footage retro snap copied is from these cameras. Digitize the footage with a capture card like Elgato video capture, and you’re golden.
They try to buy me out, 2 "independent" people who happened to know the owner or even works with them messaged me on Instagram so far. Offering me a free sample, so i can convince myself of the quality, implying that i could delete my Reddit post then.🙈 I asked them why they're playing the "middleman", which i got no answer to. @@heartattackphil Umm, can you look in your UA-cam Studio if my answer is being held back? 😯 I tried to correct a misspelling and UA-cam told me there was an error and after reloading the page, my message is gone?
@@heartattackphil i have to thank google for making my post the second search result 😄 Let's hope that it and your video continue to help more people to not get ripped off. I discovered them through UA-cam Shorts and after trying to find some technical specifications on their website, i realized that it's drop-shipping. I then answered some peoples comments, enlightening them on the rip-off and noticed that they deleted negative comments I've seen previously. I also looked up their business, which is named "CLOTHELLA LTD", which can be found on gov.uk, but then yesterday i looked it up a bit more and found out that they likely don't operate from the UK and it might be just a shell corporation 🙈 The US Address seems to be fake 😯 I don't know what can be done legally against them, as they don't have their social media linked on the website and their videos aren't technically ads 🫠 I don't care about the drop-shipping part, but the false-advertising is a thorn in my side 🫡
I think maybe a nokia (you can buy one new at some shops) would have similar quality and an easier ui, it also doubles as a phone. they maybe cost 40€.
Does look like the old digital cameras. Not like the old tape cameras. If you run the video through a vcr, itll look like the old cassette cameras probably.
