Watching this review made me realize that the world's smallest camera is like that one friend who's super cool and fascinating for the first 10 minutes at a party but after that you're just like okay we get it, you're cute, now go home
It's telling that even your "I went to the dentist twice this week" content is good stuff. I enjoyed this little mini-camera thing. It took surprisingly good pictures when everything was lined up just right. The early froggos and your selfies all looked more than serviceable. Also, Ripley is adorable. I'm happy for the little pop-up writing (What is that called?) saying that she's getting some more outdoors time. I understand that you don't want her to get hurt or decimate the local kookaburra population that lives in the old gum tree; but, cats seem to love the sun and fresh air as much as we do. I've seen online that they make little leashes for cats now, so, you can walk them like they're dogs. I don't think it's a meme product. I wonder if Temu has them?
If it comes to cameras I think this stuff is just landfill. If you want a small camera then just get a small digital camera from the 2005-2012s. I have a Canon Ixus 70 and it's tiny, but still makes amazing photos and goodish 480p video. And I paid 15€ for it. I think this is a more realistic approach if you want to use it. Else it just lands in the trash. Also, wonderful that Ripley gets some nature time :3
I was dismissive of the camera until you opened it up. Upon seeing its innards and circuit board etc., I realized this is indeed a real functioning digital camera that actually had to be made to work (however crudely), and it immediately commanded my respect - especially considering the gadget's low price. Hilarious and illuminating review - bravo!
I’ve been hatching an idea for a year now: to find some kind of mini camera with a display, add an CCTV lens with an manual aperture to it, and create a “Leica” body for the camera from nickel. And thanks to you, it seems I found a donor))))
Can't find datasheet for GPCV1235F but there's one for the similar GPCV1248A which is a "Vehicle Camera Recorder SOC Solution", except that one came out in 2014 and supports only 720p. This one looks like an upgrade of that, especially with the always-on timestamp, and that being in 2017 suggests that's when this chip came out. Holding down two or more buttons simultaneously might get into the setting mode to enable that to be changed. The UI on these devices has never been great.
These used to be 720p and no screen. Interesting update. Spec wise still the same choppy image wobble for video in avi. Might pick one up. Superglue a 8mm filter adapter to fit a wide angle from teh cheap smartphone lens kit sets.
With your cat called Ripley, having a metal xenomorph, i have a feeling that you like Alien- I wonder if one of the froggos is called "Sevastopol" or smth?
i've been watching random tech videos all night out of boredom because i've watched all of yours... back out of the video i had just finished, only to see this! perfect end to my otherwise mediocre/crap night 🥳
that camera is so tiny and cute, i watched it literally with heart eyes lol. some shots are way better than some welcome devices, so if you are close enough it's fine. i ordered some things off temu, so i will see if it's worthy or not.
Knew that when I saw it that it wouldn't hold a candle to my DLSR, or even my cellphone's camera. I'm a semi-pro photographer, so this might be a nice little decorative device for my keychain but I can't imagine much else use for it.
@SMOOREZ Why don't you buy a harness/ suspenders (i have no idea how to name it in English) for Ripley, for better walks? There are harnesses to buy, I have a couple of these for my cat in Poland. I try to go out with him everyday, tbh, he loves it and it's a pleasure for me to walk with him (or IT, but he's a part of our family) :) This way you can walk her 'round the garden and you have a total control over her :) (TBH, some people in my country think that I'm crazy, 'cause I'm walking a CAT like a DOG, but that's too obvious to explain)
I've tried before and I got a simple one that wasn't too hard to put on - but she squirmed and started to get upset. So I got another one and tried again but she knew what I was trying to do. I've tried a leash as well but she runs around crazy and tries to scratch it off. I've spoke to the vet about it and I've got her on Feliway to help with her anxiety so hopefully I'll be able to get a harness on her soon :)
Yea, that's one viable use case for those actually. A local chain shop of everything and beyond called "Don Quijote" sells slightly larger versions of those, and they've been surprisingly popular for 1:3 scale dolls among the miniature maker/doll owner communities!
2:49 3760x2128 works out to 8 megapixels, so if it's a 2 megapixel sensor then they are doing 4x scaling on it. At least they are (somewhat) honest about it.
I got the same camera but it seems that I’m having some issues to get the photos/footage from the micro SD card 😅 how do you extract that from the camera?
Oh my how cute is that? Not too great but some photos were ok and video better than expected but hey tfe star of the show made an appearance. Hello Ripley ❤
Can you explain how to download the video from the camera to Android phone directly? Do you need a dongle? Or do you have to remove the card, use computer , I pad, Ap? Thx
Have you tried upgrading the camera by getting a better one from your stack of cheapo phones? Surely it's just a case of hoping the CPU can process the images?
It's funny that I just finished watching Action Retro's recent video about a cheap toy camera & and I thought to myself that Smoorez may as well review the same toy camera. A few hours later, you uploaded the different toy camera but with same blurry quality photos. What a coincidence.
Lwltcg is a very useful feature. I'm glad they included it, because if I bought a lil bubby cam and it couldn't lwltcg, I'd be kinda pzzd euf, yknwm? Rlly, spelg lyk thz why fnnr thitht. Hella fun. if the camera is a watering can, please call the manufacturer to report amazing matter transmogrification. Can i share the nobel prize money and bitches, if this happens?
I've tried leashes and she doesn't like them. Tried harnesses as well but she wriggles her way and I can't clip it on and I don't want to force it. Vet has got me to give her feliway for anxiety so I'll try again and see if she is better with it.
I don't think you know what stand by means my dude. Recording video continuously is not the same as not doing it. When the phone is in sleep mode in your pocket with the screen off, is not the same as when you have it out max brightness recording 4k videos.
@@AliensExist13 He said it was in "Stand-By" and ran out of battery, when it was clearly filming, and believe it or not, this eats up the most battery. Same as shooting 4k videos on a smartphone as opposed to having it on actual Stand By in your pocket with the screen off doing close to no computation.
The pictures and video that takes reminds me of the `HD` camera drone thing I bought for £25 a while back. In its defense, the video quality is much better than the £300 olympus digital camera I had 15 or so years ago.
That's a great wee gadget to give to someone who you like but not too much. Or a stocking filler for kids over the age of 6. Enjoyed your vid Shane. Thanks 👍

Gonna be honest, for $25 as a "disposable" camera for your kids camps/excursions this is honestly pretty good.
Its like a 100 dollar dashcam or maybe 50 dollar dashcam and a cctv camera
If not for the battery life it would be much better but I do think it will be battery swappable for higher capacity
every day i see RIPLEY in the camera test is automatically a good day
It would be cool if they made a miniature DSLR with interchangeable lenses. Imagine what kind of Zoom you could have.
Resolution is better than the first digital camera I had. And that one was expensive.
it could have been smaller without the block of foam in it, the LCD reminds me of the tiny color LCD on the back of a clamshell or fliphone
