For a guy who never uses falsetto when he sings, Cetera is in a league of his own. Always has been. Bringing the key down and how he doesn’t extend some of the notes he originally sang longer actually worked cuz he did it in a way it worked for him. I will always say he’s the voice of Chicago for his vocal IQ and tone. Now Jason Scheff like the post-80’s fans often say or Terry Kath like the Horn guys always say. It’s Cetera. At 74 he’s amazing. I also dig how he retired from music because he wanted to go out before his voice did. Respect.
One of his last concerts before he retired. How sad for us. Unmistakeable voice. Still great singing at his age. Still handsome. Wishing him health, happiness and a long life. Love ya Peter!!
As much as I absolutely admire Peter I’m not convinced this is his voice…live. Very possibly lip synching? I’ve heard him on other UA-cam videos when he sounds terrible and can’t even come close to hitting his top notes.
Go Peter!! Best vocals in pop music history, in my humble opinion. None of this top 5, business. Number 1! No one compares. Still sounding great in your 70s. Please we need to hear that beautiful voice some more. Please make a new album for your fans. It would be great!!
I have loved that voice since Chicago Transit Authority. I have all their 78s. I played their songs on piano/woodwinds and Peters voice has always brought me to my knees. I get super emotional listening to him. I am thankful for his singing/writing talent, esp with David Foster. I am truly blessed to grow up in the 70s. Music was amazing in those days and Peter was my musical hero!
Just saw him live at Foxwoods last month. INCREDIBLE SHOW, INCREDIBLE TALENT. He did several CHICAGO songs as well as his own great solo stuff. DO NOT MISS HIM IF YOU GET A CHANCE. NO COMPROMISE IN THE SHOW AT ALL. NO AUTOTUNE, NO TRACKS, NOTHING BUT TALENT. A GREAT MUSICIAN AND SHOWMAN.
But it is a shame that Peter Cetera & the rest of the guys couldn't come to an agreement to perform together at the RRHOF induction. Once again, it's THE FANS who lose out on what could've been an amazing reunion performance. I saw them for the first time in 1979 - I doubt that we'll ever see PC reunite with Chicago, but we can still hope.
Such a Great Talent that Sings w/ So Much Feeling - Compassion - Class & Style that I have Ever Seen ~~~~ That is Why He is Whom He Truly Is Still Today ~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The ultimate perfectionist on vocals. Such passion makes him undefeated amongst top vocalists in the world. Saw him with Houston Symphony Orchestra and got to meet him before the concert...
Before I caught this performance, i heard rumors his voice was dead. Sure, he doesn't have the same power as yesterday, but damn can he sure still hit those high notes
People want him to hit those high notes at 74 he was hitting left and right at 38-40. I get most of them love his classic Chicago stuff THAT much and that’s how they express it but they sound stupid and asshole-ish cuz they need to understand he at 74 is taking it carefully. Cetera sings without using falsetto and he does long sets like 1-2 hrs when most acts do 45min-1hr if you don’t count breaks and interludes and whatnot, so what the hell do they expect? Him sing original key on everything and struggle? They’d be talking more trash. He’s always taken good care of his voice by playing it safe but to where it worked and sounded good despite the clear precautions he has taken to keep it. Sometimes it’s not the best to be THAT good at what he did in that case lol
Elizabeth Owens the slight deuteration in peter's voice is with age, peter has being singer since 1968 with chicago when the assembled together . then his solo career in 1985 up to present day. so you cant ask anymore of a man who has giving his talent to his millions of fans around the world. Unfortunately I never had the pleasure of seeing this wonderful singer live .that being they never came to Ireland to play a concert . so I can only give you my opinion in these recorded live videos that I watch . peter doesn't have to push his vocal cord open in reaching those notes from when his flips from chest voice to head voice like he did in that song love me tomorrow. and glory of love where he just used a lot of his chest voice. that suited his vocal.
Jamison Dean Love Me Tomorrow is a harder song to sing to hold the notes if you need to analyze things. Peter is singing Glory of Love spot on. No notes are cut off.
Wow. Even though I'm not a fan of what he's been doing (not showing up at the Hall of Fame ceremony or the songwriting Hall) he appears to be getting the last laugh. His vocals are still better than any singer Chicago has had since 1986.
The Real Music Observer I heard that Chicago was unwilling to change the keys of some of the songs. He can't sing them in the original keys anymore. I agree he could have shown up and not perform, like Steve Perry did.
