Thank you so much for this. I went out on a whim and bought a manual transmission car 2 weeks ago. I‘ve been struggling with massive anxiety for two weeks when I had to drive the car on a local road because I was stalling or going way too slow. Appreciate the tip with adding gas before lifting the clutch! I've always been taught (and people around me too as far as I know) to rely on the clutch to start the car, and then adding gas after. Gonna try your method out soon, hope it can help me start smoother! Thanks
Never thought about holding the bite point for smoother shifts. I was always told that once the bite point is engaged just press gas and let it go by friends who taught me manual. These are the type of professional tips I needed. Thanks and keep up the good work.
@@SaberisloveSaberislife I believe that if you give it a lot of gas and you are very slow with your gear changes you are "riding the clutch". ie you are trying to apply a lot of power before you have fully lifted the clutch and this is the major cause of clutch burn. This is why people think it's bad to hold on the clutch. However at low speeds such as when you are setting off, or parking you should use the clutch for a smoother start and fine control, the small amount of power at these speeds won't cause clutch burn. This channel is really good, you won't go wrong following his advice.
@@DavidLee-vi8ds the crazy thing is that "riding the clutch" is the only way to get smooth driving. Similar to an automatic. Doing it those old school ways always leads to sloppy shifts where the car jerks.
@@mariov4341 Technically, it's not "riding the clutch" if it's at low speeds, it's "holding the clutch", it's the correct way to drive and it's what's taught to beginners. It's considered an important skill for parking and slow heavy traffic. I remember practicing it a lot with my instructor. People who "ride the clutch" are those who make slow gear changes at high speeds and apply a lot of gas while bringing up the clutch very slowly, it's better to bring the clutch briskly at high speeds. It's also safe to bring up the clutch without applying much gas or any gas in most modern vehicles because the engines will automatically apply enough gas to prevent stalling. On older more primitive vehicles if you try to go up a gear prematurely at low speeds without applying gas you run the risk of stalling which is why some people got into the habit of giving it too much gas during gear changes. I've been told by a mechanic the people who really "ride the clutch" are those that use the clutch as a foot rest and never move their foot off the clutch. They drive around with the clutch only partially engaged and burn out the clutch. I was amazed that people actually drove like that.
U r the only one on whole utube who taught the right way of holding clutch n not leaving it abruptly. I was facing so prob coz of that wrong method of leaving clutch. Thanx to u for the correct way, now my car doesn't jerk

In the car I learned on, I didn't need to add gas when changing gears and coming off the clutch. When I got my new car, I tried the same thing and always get a slight jerk when upshifting. Now I know I need to add a bit of gas when upshifting and coming off the clutch for it to be smooth. Thank you so much for the clear instructions and explanations. This channel has been my greatest resource for learning to drive my manual car. Thank you, Richard!

My driving instructor did not teach me to prepare the gas before I passed my test. I bet you can guess what happened when I was in a different car trying to climb a hill.....
The amount of explanation makes me realize it's like explaining a "picture" you have in your head of what is happening; you have an awareness of multiple things happening simultaneously in a predictable fashion, and then there's "understanding" how the car behaves, after having driven it for long enough--everything's happening at once, but you're forced to explain each step individually. On a side-note, your explanations also helped me understand why I was able to "launch" my riding lawnmower in the high-speed gear without wheel spin or lurching (it used a clutch). It seems that thing taught me more about driving a manual transmission than I thought. 🤔

It’s my first manual car, which made that quite the ride lol. I got tired of the jerky starts so I watched your video. Even after those 1,100 miles, I still learned a lot from you !
Of course, to a European, this video is like “Intro to Walking while Chewing Gum” 😂
I'm getting my 4th car lesson tommorow and thanks to this i learned a thing or two
I am going to have a manual car after some time of not driving or driving an auto. I am glad I chose your video first. Icannot thank you enough! You are blessed to bless others.
This video alone has basically taught me how to drive.
I drove automatics all my life but moving to India for a year or two and your videos helped me feel very comfortable about trying manual cars
I passed my driving test first time more than a year ago. Watching your videos had taught me a lot, I still watch every video you upload. It has made me a defensive and disciplined driver. Was wondering if you could make a video on different types of pedestrian crossings. Thank you very much
Thank you ☺ I may do this in the future.
If we had a car and a license we wouldn't probably need to look at these videos. It is obviously helping those who are about to start taking driving lessons and need extra help. It saved me time and money watching in advance instead of learning as I pay the instructor.
If i manage to pass my first driving test, i know for sure this dude will have played a huge part in that ! Videos are incredibly helpful
American here trying to learn manual and this guy has been the best instructor I’ve seen so far. Thanks so much man
Appreciate the tip with adding gas before lifting the clutch! I've always been taught (and people around me too as far as I know) to rely on the clutch to start the car, and then adding gas after. Gonna try your method out soon, hope it can help me start smoother! Thanks

Your the guy that’s gonna help me pass my test
Simple and easy learning
I can take step by step
Never thought about holding the bite point for smoother shifts. I was always told that once the bite point is engaged just press gas and let it go by friends who taught me manual. These are the type of professional tips I needed. Thanks and keep up the good work.
It was always my impression that doing that was somehow bad.. like the clutch was wearing during that pause
@@clydeg4274 Now I'm not too sure anymore. People are saying different things that it gets too confusing.
About to buy my first Manuel car( Been driving automatic) was really nervous but this video comes at the right time thanks mate!
hi!!!! you are helping a 36 year old woman that just bought her first car!!! thank you!!!
Going to start this now. Wish me luck when I'm in the hospital bed.
😂 Good luck 🤞
Although I’m an experienced driver there’s always something new for me to learn from your videos.
I have my first driving lesson in an hour! before watching your videos, the thought of driving absolutely terrified me. now i’m only a little anxious but that’s normal:) thank you!
update: she felt confident enough for me to drive on the main road! the street we were originally on was busy because it was school hours. i stalled twice (not on the main road) but she said she was so proud and that i did a great job on my first lesson! all thanks to you!
Im learning by myself with basically no experience and this is by far my favorite tutorials on the matter! I would suggest putting timestamp in the videos it would make it easier to go back to the parts i struggle with but thanks a lot :)
Thank you, I will consider that.
I go to the Driver's School soon, and If I'll have the license,I'll buy a Jeep Renegade, but I want it on Manual, not Automatic. This is the most helpful video I saw. Everyone told me that, I can do like lifting the clutch first and then the gas, others told me press the gas and lift the clutch fully but slowly.. but none of them works because the car drops. Now I saw your video, and I can start the car smoothly. Finally!
I’m a 40 year old driver who has had a break from driving for 4 years, due to an accident and health issues so these videos have been so helpful to get my confidence back. Thank you.
I’ve watched hours of videos elsewhere on how to make my technique smoother for a comfortable and enjoyable fun ride…. Yours are the best.
Sweet! Hope you don't run out of video ideas 🙂
I have two video suggestions
1) Driving at night/poor visibility conditions, especially parking
2) Meeting traffic situations
Cheerio!
Thank you, I have loads of ideas, they are in the ideas pile too. This video may help you with meeting situations: ua-cam.com/video/NtE4k70_FNs/v-deo.html
@@ConquerDriving ooh perfect, that's great to hear. I've watched that video but shall definitely watch again. Thanks
@@uk7866 I installed LED reverse lights into my car, i bought some decent quality bulbs, it helps a lot, but the parking sensors really help the most, since the original owner didn’t option the reverse camera and instead got the sensors.
I live in the USA where the police aren’t strict on the car’s lights so I adjusted the headlight beam up a bit so I can see further down the road but not enough to point into windscreens of cars oncoming on flat ground. I also use the fog lights all the time so there’s more light.
These videos are really helpful. Ive been driving nearly 19 years but drove auto for about 12 of them - so I did find it a bit difficult going back to manual, especially in a not very forgiving little city car. I've accidentally done a couple of higher revving starts and jerky gear changes so these have really helped me get more confidence and smooth things out. Thank you!
Such a helpful video, thank you! I just bought a WRX and am fairly new to driving manual and my take offs have been really jerky. This video really helped break down the issue and know how to fix it.
I'm watching from the United Arab Emirates. My driving instructor is from Pakistan, communicating with my instructor in English won't go smoothly. Watching your videos gives me the opportunity to understand my lessons quite well.
TREMENDOUSLY helpful!! Thank you! And I've only watched the first tip! Looking forward to the rest. I feel better already because you helped to explain the time the engine and clutch need to match revs. Makes sense now!
I went to driving school because i wanted to get a license quickly, but watching your Videos made me a pro. Thank you so much! I’ll share this video with others as well🙏God Bless.
Best instructor ever explains clearly and very helpful tips. Keep it up mate👍👍💯
My dad was teaching me to drive passed years ago and now I'm getting what he said before, omgg thank you so much! I'll come back here again and again till I absorb and learn more stuff! ♥️ Thank you againn!! Cheers!
You are awesome! Your ability to teach, explain and demonstrate surpasses any teaching video I know. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom, sir! I am absolutely subscribed!
God bless the UA-cam algorithm for feeding me this! I’ve learned more about driving a stick shift in one video than I have in like four hours of practice with my dad. Thank you so much for explaining this in such detail. People will say things like “when the clutch engages” and I had no clue what they meant. I do now though!!!
You’re just amazing. Love seeing you explain with a lot of details.
I went the whole driving school without waiting on the bite point cause my instructor was ALWAYS releasing my clutch for me. Even at the final test. Thanks, now I know what I´ve been doing wrong.
Wow this helped me a lot, the explanation is clear and the camera angle is clear THANK YOU❤️
Never was taught how to drive a manual transmission. Now I know to follow the basic principle of applying light throttle before the bite point is reached, in order to shift smoothly.
Thanks for the Excellent Tutorial!
My parents never taught me how to drive a car, so I'm watching these tutorials to learn how to do it.
Watching this in preparation for driving school. I watched many videos but yours explained everything easily. Thank you!!

only person to tell me what im doing wrong without me even knowing! couldnt pull off from a standstill without jerking forward, now i can pull off smoothly everytime. thank you
This covered everything I was wondering about, thank you!
me too.
ive just got a mates car and registered it and spent 5 hours learning, i think so far i understand majority of the basics off what my mum could teach me, but i do think this video has helped me understand things a lot more. ty
buying a manual car tomorrow, learning how to drive it today 💀💀
How’s it going?
@@GardenStateNJ27 really good it’s a lot easier than it sounds, already have smooth shifts and starts. the most important thing is to know where your clutch bite point is
@@viplus1293 that’s awesome man. What car do you have that is manual?
@@GardenStateNJ27 i got a 2012 bmw 328i, fun car so far. are you looking into buying a manual car too? or just wanting to learn how to drive one
I wish someone had taught me your driving techniques before, but I'm glad your videos are around.
thank you omg could not figure out how to do the clutch bite point smoothly from stand still, thank you!!
These videos helped me pass first time back in February and have also helped me better understand how to drive my own car which is much more powerful than my past instructors car. Dude, you don't know how much of a God-send you are.
That's so great to hear. Thank you for watching!
Congratulations on 100k subs! You deserve a million, mate :)
Thank you so much for these amazing tutorials, really helps me in my driving!
He's gaining between 3,000 and 5,000 subs per week, he's becoming popular because he's amazing.
I find it easy to remember those compound methods you say in words, when you explain what's happening at the moving parts level
My driving instructor did not teach me to prepare the gas before I passed my test. I bet you can guess what happened when I was in a different car trying to climb a hill.....
I can 😀
The amount of explanation makes me realize it's like explaining a "picture" you have in your head of what is happening; you have an awareness of multiple things happening simultaneously in a predictable fashion, and then there's "understanding" how the car behaves, after having driven it for long enough--everything's happening at once, but you're forced to explain each step individually. On a side-note, your explanations also helped me understand why I was able to "launch" my riding lawnmower in the high-speed gear without wheel spin or lurching (it used a clutch). It seems that thing taught me more about driving a manual transmission than I thought. 🤔
Amazing bro, now its time to go driving without a license
while you are at it, become a stand up comedian!
Lol
The best instructor out there. It's a joy to listen and watch you. You make everything so clear and easy to follow.
