If you feel a connection to the girl in the middle, that’s the one-and-only Stevie Nicks. She’s the first woman inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice: once for being a member of Fleetwood Mac and then for her solo career. Look her up. You won’t be disappointed.

RIP Christy McVie. She leads as the singer for this song (splits between her and Stevie Nicks). She played so many roles: co-lead singer, song writer, keyboardist and even peace maker. Such a great talent and soul.

Still holds up to this day. There are no bands to this day that even comes close to fleetwood Mac. I do wish our host would have Stevie nicks as her first reaction because even though it's a great song and the late Christine had a very nice voice. We all can agree it's not as haunting as Stevie nicks.

There is SO much I could say about Fleetwood Mac, but there's not time. I will say (contrary to popular belief) that I always liked the sound of Christine McVie's voice over "The Diva" Stevie Nicks" voice. They were very influential and they ruled the airwaves in their day!

Fleetwood Mac had several lineups over the years, starting in the 60s. This lineup was their most successful, which started in 1975. Mick Fleetwood(drums), John McVie(Bass), Stevie Nicks(vocals), Christine McVie(keyboards & vocals), and Lindsey Buckingham(guitar & vocals). So yes, they had three lead vocalists and they all harmonized perfectly! They all wrote great songs for the band. Christine McVie was married to John McVie for a few years, but divorced and still remained bandmates! Buckingham and Nicks were also a couple when they joined the band in 1975. Both couples broke up around the time they were recording the Rumours album, which was one of the top albums of the 1970s!

They are indeed phenomenal - Sadly we lost Christine recently (the lead singer here). There are 5 members here, with 3 lead singers each in their own right. Here is a deeper dive into Fleetwood Mac showing the other supreme talents:
ua-cam.com/video/W6G5e65YdwA/v-deo.html (Fleetwood Mac - The Dance - 1997 - Go Your Own Way) Lindsey is the singer/guitar player here, and this and many of their songs are about break ups between them. Lindsey and Stevie (the short blonde with the tamborine) were together and she cheated on him, and this song is about that. But Stevie responded with this one back atcha:
ua-cam.com/video/eDwi-8n054s/v-deo.html (Fleetwood Mac - Silver Springs (Official Live Video) [HD])
The band and each of the main singers have many hits and the band has many different sounds as a result. But while Stevie was the prima donna, it was Christine who wrote and sang more hits than the others - her untimely passing is saddening:
ua-cam.com/video/npnGTnupBX0/v-deo.html (Fleetwood Mac- Over My Head (The Dance))

Fleetwood Mac was originated in 1967 by drummer Mick Fleetwood and bassist John McVie. In 1970, keyboardist and lead singer Christine Perfect joined the band and married John McVie soon after. Lead vocalist and lead guitarist Lindsey Buckingham was asked to join FM in 1974. He agreed on December 31, 1974 as long as they included his girlfriend, Stevie Nicks, a singer/songwriter. Despite not being able to read music, instead playing guitar and piano by ear, Stevie Nicks became the breakout star of the band with her youthful looks and witchy stage persona. She became the first female in history to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice (in 1998 as a member of FM and in 2019 as a solo artist). Sadly, Christine McVie passed away November 30, 2022 at the age of 79 after a brief illness. Her ex-husband John is 77. Mick Fleetwood is 75. Stevie is 74 and her ex Lindsey is 73.

Fleetwood Mac is/was one of the bands that made music complex enough to need additional musicians to play live, and went to the lengths to do that instead of simplifying the music or using recorded backing tracks. The band itself was a 5-piece (at least at this point, and for most of their history); Mick Fleetwood on drums, John McVie on bass (thus the name of the group, by the way), Christine McVie is the blond first singer - also keyboardist usually, Lindsey Buckingham on guitar and vocals, and the incomparable Stevie Nicks as lead vocals most of the time. Everybody else would be touring musicians added just to produce the sound close to the way it was recorded, but not actual band members. And yes, the core band had been together since the early 70's by that point ('73 I think, but I'd have to look it up to be sure).

The lead vocalist on this song is Christine Mc. Vie. I say on this song because they had a sort of unwritten rule, whereby, whoever wrote the song, sung the song. Oh, by the way there were 5 members in the band. Mick Fleetwood, John Mc. Vie, there you have the name of the band, John's wife, Christine, Lindsay Buckingham and the other woman Stevie Nicks.

Britt, if you like spilled tea and stories of betrayal and scorned lovers, Fleetwood Mac has a dirty laundry list of music that is jam packed with internal conflict and the whole band is so intertwined that some members are singing songs that the other member(s) wrote about them or directed at them. It’s a wasteland of spilled tea and gossip drama. “Silver Springs”, “The Chain” and “Go Your Own Way” are just some starting points. You’re welcome!

Mick Fleetwood, the drummer, sometimes plays with an excellent 90s band, The Corrs, who are four siblings, three ladies and a guy. They write their own wonderful easy listening music like Fleetwood Mac does, but with a different sound(and a few Fleetwood Mac covers). The Corrs have beautiful melodic voices, and each plays an instrument or four.

Great story behind this band life. Thanks Girl, as always for sounds that rock & sometimes can make you think. Words from old rocker me. Rock On ... KIDO.

Also, the official music video of this song (not the live version) shows the story from the famous poem “The Highwayman” by Alfred Noyes. I heard snipits of Rheanan for years here and there and love it but never knew who did it or the name of it. Well one day I was in a coffee shop and a couple were arguing. The woman was saying the music industry was sexist and wouldn't let women succeed. The man was arguing and she finally said, 'if it isn't sexist than why isn't there any female rock legends?' The man was stunned to silence and the woman folded her arms and leaned back thinking she'd won. The man raise his fingers and started ticking off names and, I knew there were some but I had no idea there were so many. I'm bad at remembering names but I looked up a few that I remembered and that was how I found Fleetwood mac and the name of that amazing song. Thanks publicly arguing couple!!

Most people who listen to this band nowadays think that Stevie Nicks is the only singer, but Christine McVie ... the one doing leads here actually wrote and sang more hit songs than Stevie, and that doesn't even touch Lindsey Buckingham, who did a LOT of the writing, directing, arranging and lead guitar playing, as well as lead and background vocals. The band has gone through many lineups, but this, by far, has been the most successful.
Going back to the female lead vocalists, Stevie definitely was a great singer for them, but only because, while in the group, Lindsey directed and sculpted her vocals. That really only lasted as long as their relationship, and then, she started getting a big head ... and changing the way she sang. Her songs were more "needy and complain-y", but Christine's (my love) were almost always warm and sweet, or strong and uplifting ... just the way I want a woman to be.

Fleetwood Mac had five members, who another commenter already listed below. The other people on stage were auxiliary singers and such. Mick Fleetwood and John McVie (hence the name Fleetwood Mac) are the two OG members and others joined in later at various times. Another band member, Peter Green, suggested that name. You should go back and listen to music from the Peter Green era of the band. It was much more bluesy. The original version of Black Magic Woman came out of this era. Santana's version is a cover.

I have been a fan of Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac for over 35 years. The best way to explain it is IT'S A LONG STORY! Seriously though you would have to watch one of their documentaries to even begin to understand!

Founding members, Mic Fleetwood (Drummer and band leader) and John McVie (Bass) were the core members through all the generational changes this band endured , the name Fleetwood Mac ensued. The band is an enigma, their success can hardly be charted, and their sound,,,,,,,,,,,, well, the sound just sends you to la, la land! No band has a right to be this talented. Fantastic reaction, TY. Read "Fleetwood Mac, The Complete Illustrated History by Richie Unterberger c 2016 for an insight into this wild ride.

Great song great reaction. This song is in a car commercial now lol. Fleetwood Mac= Mick Fleetwood the drummer and John McVie the bass guitarist in the back. They started this band. The lead singer here is Christine McVie, keyboardist and John's wife for many years ( they got divorced but stayed good friends) the girl in the middle is Stevie (Stephanie) Knicks and the lead guitarist is Lindsey Buckingham. Buckingham and Knicks were highschool sweethearts and lived together before many years but broke up. It was not as amicable as the McVies break up but they both still wanted the band to stay together. Tough situation. Buckingham, Knicks, and McVie all sang. McVie in my opinion was the most talented songwriter followed by Knicks and Buckingham. On the groups top 16 songs, Christine wrote 8, Stevie 5, Buckingham 3. Christine passed away on November 30. Try her other hits Songbird , over my head, you make living fun. Do the live versions from this same concert. and her big solo hit you've got a hold on me. Take care

I'm going to suggest something off beat, that woman you say is you (Stevie Nicks, by the way) worked with The Foo Fighters on the soundtrack of a documentary called “Sound city”
The “Sound city players” as the collective called itself, did a few shows where Stevie sang the song she recorded with them. BUT, and this is my suggestion here, they also did an absolutely devastating version of the Fleetwood Mac classic “Gold dust woman.” And that's the version of that song you should react to.
“Gold dust woman” is a song about heroin addiction, something Stevie Nicks was very familiar with and in that Sound city version, the Foo Fighters build up this song to increasingly eerie levels until they unleash the full fury during the final chorus. By far the best version of that song and the most epic performance by Stevie Nicks.
