FILM PROLOGUE:
“Ode To My Father” is the story of Deok-Su, a completely ordinary man, who in the face of tumultuous events, marshalls extraordinary courage to protect his family. Together they live through some of modern history’s most significant events and experience their real, human toll. As a child, Deok-Su loses his father in the chaos amidst climbing onto the SS Meredith, a U.S. naval ship which evacuated over 14,000 refugees from the North Korean city of Hungnam during the Korean War. His last words to his father were an oath that he would always protect their family at all costs. As he grows into an adult, that vow leads him to the coal mines of 1960’s Germany, and even into the jungle of the Vietnam War. Viewers will be swept away by this epic and inspirational tale of ordinary fathers, who muster superhuman resilience for the sake of family.

One of my favorite movies. The love he had for his family and the promise he made for his father helped him endure.
This is a very touching and heartwarming (but also heart breaking) movie.
I watched this with my family based on strong recommendation from friends who insisted I should not missed it.
It is such a great movie even my 11-year old girl was moved to tears, infact all in my family (young and old) were so engaged in this epic drama that we can all relate to.

It'll literally be the shittiest remake of any kMovie bollywood has ever done.
Korean history and culture is so beautiful. Central to the culture is hard work and sacrifice for the good of their families and others. This kind of culture is what is lacking in america and why america is turning into the wasteland of victim-mindedness and laziness. I've never met an american who does not constantly complain, blame others (usually with racist undertones), or take personal responsibility. Just look at statistics of the of communities that have the highest rates of crime, violence, and single mothers in the world and in america and how that low culture is promoted in mainstream media and allowed to spill over and ruin surrounding communities (Most of California for example). American culture is dangerously limited in perspective and embarrassing. One could only hope to learn from the kind of selfless morality of cultures like in this movie.

Came here after hearing Salman khan and Ali Abbas ZAFAR are remaking it as "Bharat" looks like an extremely bad movie ... looks exactly like TUBELIGHT to me :( please don't do this don't repeat the same mistake Salman and Ali don't ruin your blockbuster union!
