This will turn out amazing ( and expensive :D ) Here is an Idea we produce for 3 charter yachts, you can consider in regards to no plastic waste and drink bottles: Every guest receives on boarding his personal double walled stainless steel tumbler, engraved with your logo and ship name as well as persons name and trip date. They easy to source and not too expensive ( depending on Tumbler quality ), but definitely something Guests remember and keep.

Love this series. Much better than anything on TV.... Very similar to watching the design of $3M custom motorhomes where you get to pick out every cabinet, wood, fabric, and that layout of it all.
This was wonderful. You had so many insightful ideas. You where definitely in your element. It's plain to see you and Rico have thought long and hard about this boat. I hope you two are as successful in this venture as you hope.
I will never own a boat like this BUT if I did: I could see myself ordering the boat they are building. Not because I want to charter but because they have really built the perfect boat for taking your family (adult kids, grandkids, etc) with you on a cruising adventure. Lots of room for the “extra” people while keeping private space for yourself. All the little extras and modifications make so much sense. Can’t wait for the finished product to slide into the water.
By the looks of it, the high low table in the salon lounge is going to convert into extra sleeping spots. Which could be good even to accommodate more people for a short hire. What is the person limit on a yacht this size for a party? Thanks? You may have a head with a shower in the salon level. If you have the room.....

The sliding doors take up valuable wall space. But you do want a big entrance door on every level to get in 'the grand piano'. Just joking! But there can be big moveable items that need a wider entrance.
Great video and had to laugh when Katrina told you that you even have a chance to move a bulk head since this is hull nr 1. Your boat will set the standard for the series ! How incredible is that ? Loved the remark in the end: 'we need a bigger boat ! That is exactly what we always say when we bring on new equipment on the boat. 😀
For storage, especially in crew quarters, trays that lay above top bunk, and underneath top bunk for lower bunk. These pop downs could also be used under any shelf for misc drink items at the bar or emergency gear.

Having experienced customers also benefits the builder. Seems every request is logic and utility based so their suggestions adds tools to Betings tool chest. From my perspective coming from a custom home construction background this is an interesting watch.
I am freaking loving this. Seeing the process from contract signing to the boat hitting the water and all the steps in between is totally fascinating. I can't wait for the next part (I am guessing)with Rico talking about all the different systems that are to be selected. Same with appliances. Do you go with Sub Zero for the dual compressors or with kitchen aid because of their warranty program etc. Or do you go with Bosch for their engineering. So many choices, so much research.
@@timessix8434 I will take a sub zero with dual compressor every day. When your fridge fails it's a big deal. Having two compressors allows the fridge to maintain until you get a replacement. You can get a replacement anywhere in the world. Miele is certainly a high end brand with a high end prices and some of their niche products are exceptional for sure.

I love watching the design and planning for the VictoRico and would so love to see the boat on completion. I'm sure it will be amazing. Bering has always been my favorite boat builder and I don't think you could have made a better choice.
This was genuinely interesting & informative. Whilst lots of us may be/ have been/ have some sailing/ boating experience I feel confident in assuming that the large majority of us aren't SY owners or will ever have the means to be so( my own experience is from being a Royal Marine Commando and having served most my time in a small boat focussed unit [ that I shan't elaborate on for obvious reasons]). Seeing the IRL client/ builder process about fit-out intricacies, imho, gave a really good insight into a really important part of the process that most would likely never see. Let's be honest here. I think a fly on the wall of Kristina & Saida walking away and going 'OMG, how the hell are we gonna make all that work & what a pain in the ass?!' would be the icing on the cake BUT also will never happen as the client should never know a good 30%+ of the providers thoughts 😉😁 .That's NOT to say you two come across as difficult clients at all. Just a 'thinking aloud' thought of my own. This video also showed perfectly how the pair of you approach this entire journey from such a well balanced Crew/ Guest stance. Whilst I won't even attempt to imply I could understand such things fully I imagine there are so many more subconscious biases to battle and/or overcome when you're commissioning your own vessel that will both be your own home and must function in a financially viable manner for your guests. Buying a 2nd hand vessel or crewing it is one thing but when the stakes are so high & have such high impact potentials. Finding that balance must be so much harder
I hope Kristina and Saida are appreciating the cool ideas brought to this build and to be able to possibly incorporate them future builds considering this is going to be, I think the #1 production.
I agree 100% with your 2 dishwashers. I was just wishing i had 2 dishwashers in my home today. Im also really liking this build series in general. Think it may be because im a civil engineer.
Great idea on the water bottles. Maybe have the names of guest engraved as a great memorial for there trip. You and Rico could easily do it right on the boat prior to arrival. Laser engravers are getting cheap these days. Look into Xtool
Re-usable water bottles are all very good, but you need to have a cleaning regime for them so that guests aren't sucking on the same bottle for a week or two. Also - your filling system for them should be designed such that there is no contact between the bottle and the water fawcet.
@@AliG-iq4gd Firstly, you're overthinking it. Secondly, personal hygiene is the guests' responsibility; and at any rate, all they need do is present their bottles at breakfast every day, and the hostess/chef/whoever can run the steam generator on the coffee maker thru them which will sterilise them. If you really think that reusable water bottles are an issue then you are the problem, not the bottle. You are sanitising yourself so well that you leave yourself open for infection by destroying your inbuilt resistance to infection. It's like not letting your kids play in dirt and thinking that is good for them.
Very exciting stuff. This is the highlight of my Thursday! I hope to one day be the recipient of one of those reusable water bottles on board your yacht!!! (FYI I will be keeping it as a souvenir even if I have to smuggle it out in my luggage haha) Great idea by the way.
I remember as a kid travelling between the US, Africa, ASia and Europe and carrying transformers that would allow our 110 appliances (small) to use 220 current. Great fun when you would forget. Sometimes we even got fireworks....lol

The folks at the shipyard will need the patience of Job. It's one thing to say "We would like an icemaker here" without being able to accommodate the electrical and water supply requirements. The engineering for some requests can be enormous. 🙂🙂

Extra electrical outlets on upper deck so Rico can set-up his sound systems.Include speaker ports to tap entire system aboard too.Same for lower lounge.Your ship is going to be so Wonderful.
If you add food warmers. I believe they can be pre-set for warming temperatures. Until dining begins. Holding the pre-cooked food. Food warmers have trays with sleeves for plates,. You can get food out of the way on plates, in the kitchen. The food warmers can be set out, by the back of the salon, when you have outdoor dining. So, basically you're making a lot more room, in the kitchen. A lot better for a chef. Who is preparing a lot of food.
Dinning room table idea. Do a duel swivel elongated table that splits apart. So you have a table for the men and a table for the woman or you swivel back together for one elongated table. One end has a 1’ folds up that allows for the swivel.
You could have food tray plate warmers in-built, in the kitchen. Or, portable food tray plate warmers. This allows more plates on kitchen countertops, for the chef to put more food there. Otherwise, plates start to get in the way of more food being prepared in the kitchen -Mike

@@NautiGuys Hey, I have seen you (and others) feature boats with accessibility considerations. I’m wondering if we will see more companies adding lifts and elevators etc. to their layouts. Some of these boats have four or five separate staircases and I kind of scratch my head and wonder why they don’t just put a central elevator behind the pilot house, forward of the typical galley location that services each deck. 🤷🏻♂️
Bigger nbbl asks : 1. Soaker tub / infinity pool - on the front. You need a water feature (one that stows and fills in 4-minutes) 2. Really big ask is to pull the front of the pilot house forward 10 or 12 ft. For improved looks AND for living space. I think you want as wasted little anchor space as practical.
Outside of the US most of the world is on 220-240V. I would therefore make the electrical outlets dual voltage, both 110V and 230V for flexibility, which would be helpful for international guests and in consideration of the after sales market that could well be in Asia or Europe.
Great young ladies you are working with there at Bering. Look forward to seeing the electric layout and sound layout of the Bering. Actually make sure that you get appliances that are rated 120v. 110v hardly exist. Also make sure the battery converters are putting out 120v and not 125v. Higher voltage will damage appliances over time. Looking forward to next build video. Rico, make sure they install several weatherproof 120 v receptacle circuits near the side of upper wall at base of the crane. Trust me you will never have enough receptacles/circuits for Electronics. I did not see you talk about top that Rico asked about to be fitted on top of the upper crane. So he could use it as a DJ location. But you did bring up the two orange chairs so points for that. You may wish to talk to them about that soon because they would also need to have some power wired to plug in the equipment.
When you plan out your galley, do you spend time with a superyacht chef to figure out what you need for the wow factor to be included to give your charter guests the very best possible choices or do you make you decisions entirely on your comfort zone and budget? Some people are up for the challenge you have undertaken, I am not one of them so I get to live through you vicariously without any of the stress involved😀😀 I am so very much looking forward to the next installment of your series.
10:30, THANK YOU for recognizing the extreme waste of bottled water. I work in a grocery store, it sickens me how much water we sell bottled up in plastic that ends up in the landfill or in tiny particles in the ocean. I'd say by weight about 1/5 of the merchandise we sell is water. Produces a lot of pollution to move water from place to place, especially if you are moving it from some crazy distance place like Fiji.
@@NautiGuys How are they applying it? It seems a really confusing rule around how it is defined in terms of where the load line length is measured. For example the Bering 80 is listed as under 24m, but its LOA and LWL are both greater than 24m.
If you were to look at a previous episode of Sailing RAN who are building a boat in Sweden they were able to take the cad drawings and converted to VR program so they were able to “walk through”the design and see if everything worked or if adjustments should be made. What a wonderful tool and less expensive than making “discoveries” later on.
@@NautiGuys yeah I was wondering that myself, how do you fit a 6 cabin layout in a 75 footprint. It doesn't really work unless they give you the dimensions of the 80 for free? Cause again, I can't see this happening, unless you are getting an 80 instead of the 75 for the 6 cabin layout to work. I can't even fit it in a 77 footprint? Maybe have the sky lounge be on top of the owners cabin/Bridge Deck? (Maybe a 4 deck 6 cabin layout)....cause that's the only way I see this working out.
Hi, big fan for long time.. exited about your new boat ! :) u ignited new passion for me - boats :) A boat is like a house, so as an architect, I would suggest not to sacrifice back salone sliding doors, couse u will lose a lot of visual "space", and back view when sitting on sofa (and same in cockpit view to the salone). I would even sugest to make them open 100%, to connect salone and cockpit, then u can put a very big table for big events there. I'm sure there's a lot of space for storage in this big boat ;) Also, dont block stairs, keep them as open as possible, they should be like piece of art sculpture in any interior ! :) I suggest dont copy same function spaces, I understand there could be 8 guests + crew, but make every space unique ! u dont have to be able to eat at every table in every space. maybe even dont do 2 kitchens, couse your guests will travel with glasses even plates in hands, and between 2 of them will be a mess :D The small kitchen will be uncomfortable to work in :/ it will get bigger and bigger until u will see u have 2 kitchens :/ leave it as a bar only maybe, with easy to move furniture IMO. In flybridge u even could have inflatable/ movable "jaccuzzi", off course also ability of a dance floor for DJ :), so furniture should be easy (re)movable. I envy you so much :) how about we will be your 1st guests when u start in Mediterranean? :D

Fascinating look at the decisions that go into a semi-custom large yacht. I am surprised you want to keep the day head -- it is very visible and everyone in the salon will watch anyone enter the day head. I bet 99% of charterers will go below to their own cabin instead of using the day head. The space where the day head is could be used for many other things -- a huge galley pantry, or by moving the galley bulkhead you could expand the crew space. Good idea to remove the small dining table and chairs, but I wonder if a U-shaped dinette could fit in that general area? It would be great to offer guests an indoor dining space if weather outside is miserable and cold or too hot. Enjoyed the video!
when building our home the contractor asked how big do you want the back porch. I picked out a size I knew the bank would not approve, so I said 25 feet wide and 75 feet long. Yep you guessed it I have a 1,875 sq foot covered back porch. My point is that " I wanna wand " starts getting expensive to wave around. Now I might not be able to afford a week-long trip to Bermuda, but who would want to go anywhere when you have such a nice back porch.
Amazing that when Victoria found out she could move bulkheads, she had a suggestion ready. This boat will really be a pioneer in a very popular model going forward I think.

@S. M. I wish I was. I have been fortunate to be around a Cuisine expert..Not a Master, but an expert in Vietnamese Food Cuisine. What is remarkable is that it was the world food traveler, the late Anthony Bourdain's favorite cuisine, (in the entire world). He mentioned that on his show. Also can be seen on UA-cam. Things I've had, like stuffed oven roasted and seasond lobster..Their soups. One veggie wrapped sandwich. Wrapped just like a burrito. Except the wrap is made of clear rice paper. And their desserts. O M G ! They learned from French Cuisine cooking. I think his favorites were Vietnamese, Thai, and French. Spain also has some interesting fish dishes. At a restaurant, served as part of a five- course-meal
A couple of vids from the CrewChef or SuperYachtCaptain show that they use overhead lamp warmers on some yachts to keep the food warm. Or racks to warm the plates. But even on a large yacht most of the time you are walking dishes from the galley to where the guests are eating. Or using the dumb waiter to get a platter out then plating it near the guests.
Can you make a video explaining how you go about financing/affording this project? No personal information, just an overview of what it takes to get the financing (like how much you need to bring yourself etc), what are your assumptions around charter revenues etc. Basically I’m curious to know more about the business model/case you build on.
When this yacht is completed, it's going to be like the tents in the Harry Potter Movies. Normal size on the outside and unbelievably huge and spacious on the inside. This thing is going to be amazing. I can't wait for the finished product. Everyone give Nautiguys their props because they have created a unique content channel where they are kindly taking us along on their journey. Showing us the entire process of buying and designing their dream. Add Bering to the mix, and it's like the perfect marriage (or should I say "extra marriage", lol). I love watching the design and planning for the VictoRico and would so love to see the boat on completion. I'm sure it will be amazing. Bering has always been my favorite boat builder and I don't think you could have made a better choice.

This was genuinely interesting & informative. Whilst lots of us may be/ have been/ have some sailing/ boating experience I feel confident in assuming that the large majority of us aren't SY owners or will ever have the means to be so( my own experience is from being a Royal Marine Commando and having served most my time in a small boat focussed unit [ that I shan't elaborate on for obvious reasons]). Seeing the IRL client/ builder process about fit-out intricacies, imho, gave a really good insight into a really important part of the process that most would likely never see.
Let's be honest here. I think a fly on the wall of Kristina & Saida walking away and going 'OMG, how the hell are we gonna make all that work & what a pain in the ass?!' would be the icing on the cake BUT also will never happen as the client should never know a good 30%+ of the providers thoughts 😉😁 .That's NOT to say you two come across as difficult clients at all. Just a 'thinking aloud' thought of my own.
This video also showed perfectly how the pair of you approach this entire journey from such a well balanced Crew/ Guest stance. Whilst I won't even attempt to imply I could understand such things fully I imagine there are so many more subconscious biases to battle and/or overcome when you're commissioning your own vessel that will both be your own home and must function in a financially viable manner for your guests. Buying a 2nd hand vessel or crewing it is one thing but when the stakes are so high & have such high impact potentials. Finding that balance must be so much harder
it's been quite the journey! Actually Bering has been very welcoming to hear our requests, but I did get a few Nos on my NBBL... we will be sharing
I hope Kristina and Saida are appreciating the cool ideas brought to this build and to be able to possibly incorporate them future builds considering this is going to be, I think the #1 production.

Great idea on the water bottles. Maybe have the names of guest engraved as a great memorial for there trip. You and Rico could easily do it right on the boat prior to arrival. Laser engravers are getting cheap these days. Look into Xtool

Re-usable water bottles are all very good, but you need to have a cleaning regime for them so that guests aren't sucking on the same bottle for a week or two. Also - your filling system for them should be designed such that there is no contact between the bottle and the water fawcet.
@@AliG-iq4gd Firstly, you're overthinking it. Secondly, personal hygiene is the guests' responsibility; and at any rate, all they need do is present their bottles at breakfast every day, and the hostess/chef/whoever can run the steam generator on the coffee maker thru them which will sterilise them.
If you really think that reusable water bottles are an issue then you are the problem, not the bottle. You are sanitising yourself so well that you leave yourself open for infection by destroying your inbuilt resistance to infection. It's like not letting your kids play in dirt and thinking that is good for them.
Very exciting stuff. This is the highlight of my Thursday! I hope to one day be the recipient of one of those reusable water bottles on board your yacht!!! (FYI I will be keeping it as a souvenir even if I have to smuggle it out in my luggage haha) Great idea by the way.

I remember as a kid travelling between the US, Africa, ASia and Europe and carrying transformers that would allow our 110 appliances (small) to use 220 current. Great fun when you would forget. Sometimes we even got fireworks....lol

The folks at the shipyard will need the patience of Job. It's one thing to say "We would like an icemaker here" without being able to accommodate the electrical and water supply requirements. The engineering for some requests can be enormous. 🙂🙂

If you add food warmers.
I believe they can be pre-set for warming temperatures. Until dining begins. Holding the pre-cooked food.
Food warmers have trays with sleeves for plates,. You can get food out of the way on plates, in the kitchen. The food warmers can be set out, by the back of the salon, when you have outdoor dining.
So, basically you're making a lot more room, in the kitchen. A lot better for a chef. Who is preparing a lot of food.

Dinning room table idea. Do a duel swivel elongated table that splits apart. So you have a table for the men and a table for the woman or you swivel back together for one elongated table. One end has a 1’ folds up that allows for the swivel.

You could have food tray plate warmers in-built, in the kitchen. Or, portable food tray plate warmers.
This allows more plates on kitchen countertops, for the chef to put more food there. Otherwise, plates start to get in the way of more food being prepared in the kitchen

@@NautiGuys if Victoria keeps adding on to it it may be 3 years. And 10 ft longer. They'll have to cut the hull and add 10 feet to it. I'll bet it will be amazing though. Maybe a reversible escalator. "The people want what the people want".
@@NautiGuys Hey, I have seen you (and others) feature boats with accessibility considerations. I’m wondering if we will see more companies adding lifts and elevators etc. to their layouts. Some of these boats have four or five separate staircases and I kind of scratch my head and wonder why they don’t just put a central elevator behind the pilot house, forward of the typical galley location that services each deck. 🤷🏻♂️

1. Soaker tub / infinity pool - on the front. You need a water feature (one that stows and fills in 4-minutes)
2. Really big ask is to pull the front of the pilot house forward 10 or 12 ft. For improved looks AND for living space. I think you want as wasted little anchor space as practical.

Outside of the US most of the world is on 220-240V. I would therefore make the electrical outlets dual voltage, both 110V and 230V for flexibility, which would be helpful for international guests and in consideration of the after sales market that could well be in Asia or Europe.
Great young ladies you are working with there at Bering. Look forward to seeing the electric layout and sound layout of the Bering. Actually make sure that you get appliances that are rated 120v. 110v hardly exist. Also make sure the battery converters are putting out 120v and not 125v. Higher voltage will damage appliances over time. Looking forward to next build video. Rico, make sure they install several weatherproof 120 v receptacle circuits near the side of upper wall at base of the crane. Trust me you will never have enough receptacles/circuits for
Electronics. Build on dudes. Chow
For plates on the fly bridge you can use a pillar with spring loaded plate station. It saves space and it is an easy to grab a plate and go.

When you plan out your galley, do you spend time with a superyacht chef to figure out what you need for the wow factor to be included to give your charter guests the very best possible choices or do you make you decisions entirely on your comfort zone and budget? Some people are up for the challenge you have undertaken, I am not one of them so I get to live through you vicariously without any of the stress involved😀😀 I am so very much looking forward to the next installment of your series.

10:30, THANK YOU for recognizing the extreme waste of bottled water. I work in a grocery store, it sickens me how much water we sell bottled up in plastic that ends up in the landfill or in tiny particles in the ocean. I'd say by weight about 1/5 of the merchandise we sell is water. Produces a lot of pollution to move water from place to place, especially if you are moving it from some crazy distance place like Fiji.

what do you mean by "how Bering understands it?"
@@NautiGuys How are they applying it? It seems a really confusing rule around how it is defined in terms of where the load line length is measured. For example the Bering 80 is listed as under 24m, but its LOA and LWL are both greater than 24m.
If you were to look at a previous episode of Sailing RAN who are building a boat in Sweden they were able to take the cad drawings and converted to VR program so they were able to “walk through”the design and see if everything worked or if adjustments should be made. What a wonderful tool and less expensive than making “discoveries” later on.
@@NautiGuys yeah I was wondering that myself, how do you fit a 6 cabin layout in a 75 footprint. It doesn't really work unless they give you the dimensions of the 80 for free? Cause again, I can't see this happening, unless you are getting an 80 instead of the 75 for the 6 cabin layout to work. I can't even fit it in a 77 footprint? Maybe have the sky lounge be on top of the owners cabin/Bridge Deck? (Maybe a 4 deck 6 cabin layout)....cause that's the only way I see this working out.

A boat is like a house, so as an architect, I would suggest not to sacrifice back salone sliding doors, couse u will lose a lot of visual "space", and back view when sitting on sofa (and same in cockpit view to the salone). I would even sugest to make them open 100%, to connect salone and cockpit, then u can put a very big table for big events there.
I'm sure there's a lot of space for storage in this big boat ;)
Also, dont block stairs, keep them as open as possible, they should be like piece of art sculpture in any interior ! :)
I suggest dont copy same function spaces, I understand there could be 8 guests + crew, but make every space unique ! u dont have to be able to eat at every table in every space. maybe even dont do 2 kitchens, couse your guests will travel with glasses even plates in hands, and between 2 of them will be a mess :D The small kitchen will be uncomfortable to work in :/ it will get bigger and bigger until u will see u have 2 kitchens :/ leave it as a bar only maybe, with easy to move furniture IMO.
In flybridge u even could have inflatable/ movable "jaccuzzi", off course also ability of a dance floor for DJ :), so furniture should be easy (re)movable.

Fascinating look at the decisions that go into a semi-custom large yacht. I am surprised you want to keep the day head -- it is very visible and everyone in the salon will watch anyone enter the day head. I bet 99% of charterers will go below to their own cabin instead of using the day head. The space where the day head is could be used for many other things -- a huge galley pantry, or by moving the galley bulkhead you could expand the crew space.
Good idea to remove the small dining table and chairs, but I wonder if a U-shaped dinette could fit in that general area? It would be great to offer guests an indoor dining space if weather outside is miserable and cold or too hot.

when building our home the contractor asked how big do you want the back porch. I picked out a size I knew the bank would not approve, so I said 25 feet wide and 75 feet long. Yep you guessed it I have a 1,875 sq foot covered back porch. My point is that " I wanna wand " starts getting expensive to wave around. Now I might not be able to afford a week-long trip to Bermuda, but who would want to go anywhere when you have such a nice back porch.

I remember your Faces when you toured the 75' you were like Kids in Wanka Land and you couldnt decide on a Direction to turn. I Stated THEN you WERE going to buy one even IF you had to Rob Several Banks to do so.
With a big boat like that, do they use food carts from the kitchen? Or, food warmers that have shelves with trays. To keep each plate warm. Then, to the back of the salon. This way, you don't have to walk and balance plates. Plus, fewer trips, back-and-forth

@S. M. I wish I was. I have been fortunate to be around a Cuisine expert..Not a Master, but an expert in Vietnamese Food Cuisine.
What is remarkable is that it was the world food traveler, the late Anthony Bourdain's favorite cuisine, (in the entire world). He mentioned that on his show. Also can be seen on UA-cam.
Things I've had, like stuffed oven roasted and seasond lobster..Their soups. One veggie wrapped sandwich. Wrapped just like a burrito.
Except the wrap is made of clear rice paper. And their desserts. O M G ! They learned from French Cuisine cooking.
I think his favorites were Vietnamese, Thai, and French. Spain also has some interesting fish dishes. At a restaurant, served as part of a five- course-meal
A couple of vids from the CrewChef or SuperYachtCaptain show that they use overhead lamp warmers on some yachts to keep the food warm. Or racks to warm the plates. But even on a large yacht most of the time you are walking dishes from the galley to where the guests are eating. Or using the dumb waiter to get a platter out then plating it near the guests.
Can you make a video explaining how you go about financing/affording this project? No personal information, just an overview of what it takes to get the financing (like how much you need to bring yourself etc), what are your assumptions around charter revenues etc. Basically I’m curious to know more about the business model/case you build on.
When this yacht is completed, it's going to be like the tents in the Harry Potter Movies. Normal size on the outside and unbelievably huge and spacious on the inside. This thing is going to be amazing. I can't wait for the finished product.
