- Ehud Olmert, who was Israeli prime minister between 2006 and 2009, told Newsnight that he believes that the majority of Israelis do not think Benjamin Netanyahu is doing what needs to be done to bring back the Israeli hostages and the need for a two state solution.
Mr Olmert discussed the Israel-Gaza war with Newsnight’s Victoria Derbyshire, telling her that everyone should have the “necessary opportunities” to get the humanitarian supplies they need.
The Palestinian militant group Hamas launched an unprecedented assault on Israel on 7 October. Israel immediately began a massive campaign of air strikes on targets in Gaza, in response to the Hamas attack.

@@public.public You are highly exaggerating. Look at pictures from Ethiopia in 1984. That was famine. Can you see on TV anything comparable on people's faces in this case? Not only that, but two massive differences regarding your comment: The Nazis were not in a military state of war with Jews who were all civilians. Furthermore, the Nazis killed 6 million out of 9.5 million Jews in Europe. Do you see anything even remotely comparable here?
What absolute mental nonsense are you talking about???? I get DAILY updates from within Gaza. You do realise they don't rely on expensive imports for their normal food supplies outside of wars they create from their endless brutalities? They produce their own food. They have PLENTY of food inside Gaza and I get tons of videos of all the food being made in the markets. If Hamas just stop blocking the 10% small population who do not support Hamas and give them access to go about their daily needs so they can buy their food, there wouldn't be any food crisis at all. The crisis is very small and only in those isolated areas.
In fact, some of the coverage creates the impression that food cannot enter Gaza. However, 160 trucks are entering each day with about 4,000 tons of cargo. It's not quite enough, but distribution is a significant issue, too. It is normal that the fighters should eat first, but among civilians there is no effective rationing.
All the war criminals bragging in Tik-tok about their monstruous acts should be sued before entring UK or any european country. Would you like to have them as neighbours?

Good that the BBC now speaks to Israeli critics of the fascist and apartheid state of Israel. The BBC now needs to give a voice to Gazans. The BBC needs to share the voices that many people in the UK watch on Al Jazeerah, whose coverage of the situation in the Middle East is far more informed.

What rapist? Israel was established on the basis of a UN two-state solution decision in 1947. The Jews accepted it. The Arabs rejected it. The Arabs then attacked Israel in 1948 and lost. From 1948 to 1967, the Palestinians had the West Bank and Gaza. Why did they not build a state?
It's a useful mission and at 400 tons it is much more effective tham air drops which struggle to provide even 40 tons.
However, lets not forget that about 160 trucks enter Gaza every day the normal way. That's about 4,000 tons per day.

Seems like it’s intentionally misconstruing what Omert is saying, which is that Israel should be fighting Hamas specifically and not the wider population.
