Ukrainian soldiers from the 68th Mechanized Infantry Brigade refuse to fight.
The encircled battalion of the 115th brigade and 104TRO at the junction of Semenovka and Berdychi successfully negotiated surrender.
At the end of April, Forbes magazine published a devastating article about the effectiveness of one of the most technologically advanced and well-equipped brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The last two failures stand out most clearly in the text: first - Avdeevka, then - Ocheretino, which the 47th Mechanized Infantry Brigade "Magura" allegedly could not recapture. The 47th Mechanized Infantry Brigade is an attack unit. She was being prepared for an offensive, where American instructors trained soldiers in combined arms combat. The brigade learned a strictly defined set of tactics, which did not include long-term retention of populated areas. in 2023, the brigade was equipped with the best NATO standard equipment. However, young officers without combat experience were included in the command, especially the middle and junior officers, which directly contradicts the doctrine of the US Ground Forces and the charters of NATO countries. This led to the fact that the brigade not only suffered heavy losses in people, but also lost Leopard 2A6 and M1A1SA tanks, Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and other equipment.

Draft dodging has become an increasingly pressing problem for Kiev. Under martial law, men between 18 and 60 are not allowed to leave the country if they are eligible to be conscripted, with only a few exceptions. In late December, the border guard reported that nearly 11,000 men were caught trying to escape the country in 2023 alone.
The BBC recently reported that from February 2022 to September 2023, nearly 20,000 men fled Ukraine to avoid being drafted. Another estimate made by Austrian news outlet Express with reference to Eurostat data suggested that the number could be as high as 650,000.

We have been restocking NATO supply caches with *our* weaponry and it is much easier to just give them what we use rather than bringing it back and modifying it. It's also easier than modifying arms and sending them there since we have the genuine article next door. Ukraine has been trustworthy when it comes to our concerns in the US. Seems straightforward to me.

Ukraine. The US, Russia and Ukraine entered into an agreement know as the Budapest Memorandum. We the US agreed to defend Ukraine if they were ever attacked If, they surrendered their Neuclear weapons. They agreed and the treaty was signed in 1994. We further agreed in 2008 to work with Ukraine to become a democracy and eventually lead to membership in NATO.
SO, unless you now think we should go back on our word, we'll obviously the word of the US is just crap. We just in support of our obligation gave Ukraine $75 billion although it was a loan and really should hv been a payment on our promises. I believe the US should honor our obligations and not just cut and run when things get tough.

This is like the thrid or foruth packages over the past two years, which has now reached almost half a trillion dollars I believe. They already laundered over 400 million last year. We are literally paying for their countries economy. And this entire conflict has absolutely nothing to do with us.
We went from sharing a space station with Russia, to the verege of nuclear war by sticking our nose simply where it doesnt belong.
Instead of being a two faced prick, what we should have done was offer a neutral table for peaceful negotians, building trust, and relationships. Not running behind our space stations partner's back funding criminals who now launder out money.
We just showed the world just how pathetic and cowardly we really are.

It seems that France's Macron is serious about sending French troops to Odessa, Ukraine. Macron, one may argue, has a Napoleon complex, does he not know that if NATO eventually backs the French troops in Ukraine this conflict will reach the point of no return? Instead of trying to de-escalate the conflict the French madman wants to escalate it. Whereas during the 1962 crisis both Kennedy and the Soviets worked hard at de-escalation.

In the US, men are subject to draft (i.e., conscription) starting at age 18. Until last week, Ukrainian men were not subject to draft until age 27! Last week Ukraine lowered its draft age to 25, but that's still 7 whole years past the US draft age -- despite the fact that Ukraine is in a situation far more desperate than the US is likely to ever face. Given that Ukraine is in a fight for its very survival against an invader both larger and more willing to sacrifice soldiers, given that Ukraine has an acute shortage of manpower, and given Ukraine's incredibly high draft age (relative to other nations), why hasn't Ukraine lowered its draft age to 18 or at least to 21?! Why aren't the allies pressuring Ukraine to do so?! Also, why has Ukraine done so little to prevent draft dodgers from dodging?!

Manpower and fielded systems have to match up. With enough money, that becomes much easier. So yes, another 100B would help, but that will still take time. It would have a significant effect on the war though. Ukraine would be much more favored to win at this very moment. People love money, soldiers like to know they can assure their children will have a spectacular future if their time on the battlefield is all they have left. Might help is an understatement. What is your price, what do you think Ukrainian freedom is worth? How many people would say yes to a year on the battlefield for a million dollars? How many weapons and munitions will they need? The general can attest to that more than I can.
