- A quick brix test using a refractometer, of one of my cherry tomatoes. I tested 8 varieties in all and the results are at the end of the video. The brix level gives you an idea of how sweet the tomato is. The higher the brix % the sweeter the tomato. There was a clear winner in my test which I'll be sure to grow again next year.
The refractometer on Amazon is actually $35 with shipping, not $60 as mentioned in the video. You can get it here: amzn.to/1J60pEi - Навчання та стиль
I also want to say that if i use a mortar pestle the reading drops . I cut the tomato and squeeze using a garlic squeezer . This avoids the less sugary skin and seed affecting the result
This is incorect...

I had a Brix of 8..5 for my tomato's ,my best reading yet ,a cherry tomato of no known name . I heard that to make them sweet is to not over water after flowering

Sweet! : ) Could you taste the difference in the sweetness between the 9% and 6% tomatoes?
HChrisH200 - Haphazard Homestead Oh yeah there is a huge difference even between 9 and 7.
Gapeys Grub That's neat. Thanks.
Wow, you're really fast with a mortar and pestle!! It's like you moved in fast forward there. I like your mortar and pestle set with the little pourable lip.
I did make the video faster there. :p
