  • The degrees of brix is the amount of sugar content in a tomato or other piece of fruit or vegetable. Every gardener grows their own tomatoes because they enjoy to garden and do not want to have to settle for store bought, mass produced, bland tomatoes. In this video, I explain how to measure Brix and share with you what I do to get the Brix measurement higher.

I grow a grape tomato called "sugary" it has a brix between 9 and 9.5 and is a really big producer. The problem with this very sweet tomato is that it's prone to cracking. I only grow one of these because of the problem with cracking but it is probably the sweetest tomato I've ever tasted.

Enjoying the dog days of summer here in northeast Texas, with some "sweet 100's" right off the vine.

My husky is still only about a foot tall. And something stole all 10 toms off of it while they were green. The rest of them are tall and productive. Except that something is taking lots of them too. I’ve been picking at first blush just to get some for us. Nala is gorgeous!
