This show could have really benefited from the lack of a live audience reaction. It would have loosened up the writers' scripts and kept them from trying to rapid fire jokes all the time. More importantly, it would have given some room for the serious moments to ring a little less hollow. Even though Jack is saying things that are "silly" at George, that fight could have held much more weight feeling those words uninterrupted by the audience's inappropriately-timed laughter I feel like I love this show for what it could have been, rather than what it is. These days it's a relic of our past and a product of its time, but if they had taken the show in a slightly different direction from the mainstream and let the cap off just a little bit more, the could have had a very special show on their hands Seeing Carlin play a different version of himself as if he never left the neighborhood is really refreshing and it makes me wish he had done more acting in the vein of this or Jersey Girl, or even his bit part in Scary Movie 3 I'll still cherish the moments like Bill & Ted or Dogma, but he had more in his acting than I think he ever believed. It's really too bad he didn't care for acting Still, I love George and he will always be remembered for his amazing Stand-up material
