  • Throughout the centuries, there have been many Queens who's remains have been defiled following their deaths. But some of the Tudor Queens who reigned over England experienced this fate. Elizabeth I for example did not want to be embalmed but her internal organs were removed against her wishes to prevent decay. In this documentary, we look at the fates of the Tudor Queens and those who had their burial vaults and coffins opened.

Henry VIII had a horrible marital history. Two wives were annulled, two were beheaded, one died following childbirth and only one lived and ended up never having been gotten rid of. Despite that, I think Henry, Jane Seymour and Anne Boleyn should be given more proper tombs. Ditto King Charles I.

Henry was a piece of work, that's for sure. It was said that Anne's dad and his ambitions were the reason for all of this. He tried to pawn off both his daughters to mad king for station and privilege. He died in disgrace when his family didn't have to suffer had he been happy with the life he was given.

Once placed in the final resting place most are removed because of grave robbery, although well guarded it would be a bit risky to leave them there.

Without doing additional research, the only thing I know that Victoria was buried with was a sculpture of her husbands hand. She treasured it and him. Golly. Now there was a person with a sad childhood.I think Victoria is exceedingly interesting.

Childbirth is always risky at times, but the royals were in more danger than any of the common people because they had "doctors" who didn't know anything and weren't even clean. Common people and others who were smarter had midwives who were experienced, and were clean also. While they didn't know about germs per se, the midwives knew to have clean hands, like one does when preparing food. The doctors knew nothing about delivering the afterbirth or anything else.
Also, Parr was not Henry's nurse maid. He preferred to be only with his doctors, and would not want to show himself sick as per his pride. She wasn't with him at his request during his last Christmas. This myth of Parr being the nursemaid persists because it seems to make sense because she was older?

It took me a while to distinguish but admittedly American kids can’t name all the Presidents. I wonder how many can walk through the Wars of the Roses which led to the Tudor rule. And then the Italians can name emperors going back to Romulus and Remus. Yeah. We need to learn from past mistakes.

    They can't spell "Tudor".
One time it's "Judah", another it's "Chudah".
    Aragon becomes "Argan".
    Boleyn becomes
    "Berin" and Anne Boleyn
    they twist to "Amberin".

Well, actually it more like Elizabeth (like father, like daughter) She was actually the bloody one, more than Mary. And she tortured people-oh yes! Read the history with contemporary sources. On the other hand, Henry tortured Mary by wrenching her from her mother at a young age and then not letting her see her. (only a partial list of his emotional torture) Even as she was on deaths door. Mary is more to be pitied in my view.

@@gipseebustelo8271 Thank you. I can quite honestly say that one night after reading a scholarly well respected bit fat book on the Tudors ($30.00 hardcopy got it used on Amazon for $5.00) "The Tudors" by G.J. Meyer, he wrote about things I'd read about before and all that-but that night I actually lost sleep thinking about how horrible some things were. Like Elizabeth's sociopath torturer. I mean, she knew and allowed him to keep his equipment in his house. Even some people in the Tower couldn't stomach what he was doing.
      Be well.

@@mowvu Thanks mowvu. Well, it's an interesting topic because people and everything involved with them can be odd, sometimes headspingingly so. ( I just made up that word) I thought picking on that woman so mean and insisting that such a thing just could not be ! The commenters were upset with anyone referring to her as female and my mostly unpopular stance on this subject got people hopping. To be realistic, doing the Pepsi ad wasn't a great idea because it inflamed people and gave an excuse to spread hate, but also because of Pepsi. Are they sincerely wanting to help people? If so, then hire and promote folks within the company rather than slap the public with an ad. When "people" (Pepsi) put ads out that "get in people's faces" like that one, then the chance for real education on the topic is lost. And my "attempts" fell flat you can be sure. The pushback on that was crazy, so I took my remarks off of e-mail answers so now see them only I go to my account.
As for my last words, "Pepsi, I stand on your lovely blue and red scaffold let me assure you that I am grateful for every tooth I lost to your wonderful product"
