@@willowthe_birdwatcher3268 Renegade Raider was the last skin I would expect them to try reselling, so if they're willing to resell that then they're going to resell anything that people are willing to pay for. I am concerned they might use the Season Shop and its XP requirement as a way to sell battle pass items at a massively increased price, though. Exclusivity isn't going to be dead until they find a better way to compensate players than just making an OG style, but as long as it doesn't overshadow the original in the 'looking cool' department I'd consider it a fair compromise (not sure how you make an OG style for emotes or sprays, though).

50:17 the Fortnite crew has also had this loop hole where they claimed previous Fortnite crew skins could be resold to Crew members, yet they haven’t been implemented since and people just assumed they were exclusive without Epic having to lift a finger to create more FOMO
They reworked the Pass screen by putting all avaible passes in there from top to bottom. Perhaps they can do the same for the shop where you go on [Shop] and then can choose between Regular>Lego>Festival>Rocket Racing>Disney>Crew Only
This really goes back for me when I wanted the "Vi" skin from the crew pass from the time. I was only in Middle School at the time, and I was saving up and debating about it... then I ran out of time since Vi was February's skin (I think), the shortest month. C2 S5 was the roughest season for me.
Well, as of today, the Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper skins have returned to the shop. So I guess it's another step in getting rid of exclusivity
Renegade and aerial were both in the exact same boat of vague nondescript exclusivity as the c2s1-c2s6 skins so those passes could come back if more people realize they never were called exclusive

No one is going to successfully punish epic for re-releasing battlepasses, they have their own reasons for being slow to do so. Infact if they were a public company, it would genuinely be easier to sue them for NOT selling old battlepasses than to punish them as a private company when they do
Once Spider-Man was in the battle pass I knew exclusivity was on borrowed time. I mean sure there were big characters locked away before main one being Superman. However they made basic ass vanilla Spider-Man with comic colors and all exclusive. That’s how I knew it’s only a matter of time. Then Darth Vader just cemented the fact.

you never really realize how gross the battle pass monetization is until someone points it out to you, there really are so many times I wanted to quit this game but knew if I ever came back I'd have missed out on so much that its easier to just find ways to farm the battle pass and get it out of the way for games I actually still enjoy

I use to feel the same way, where if I quit the game I'd miss out on the cosmetics and that created so much fomo for me that I'd play just so I could get some random skin or cosmetic I'd never use. Then I missed out on a BP and I realized something, at the of the day it's just a game and will eventually die, all the cosmetics I missed will disappear one day. It's all a bit silly to worry about such little things.
Definitely, even as someone who used to care about rare items, I just don't care about that anymore. I just want Omega and Meow Skulls, if that means other people get the skins in seasons they didn't play, that's fine. This has got to be one of the best videos discussing this topic. Most just say their stance is, but u actually provided actual good ways epic could approach this, most being really good ideas. Some are very similar to the ideas i had like the one with letting us progress old passes only after reaching level 200. Since after 200 there's really no point for levels. Thats usually when i stop playing in a season, only coming back when they add events, when the secret skin comws out, or to finish up story quests. Giving crew subscribers the option to either buy old passes or having them included is also a good idea, and i feel epic would do that since they always want to make the crew more enticing. Independently of all this, like the "skin catalog" idea, being able to look at every single skin and having details on each one like how to get them. Personally i think they should bring back everything. Once exception i would have is with skins like galaxy or iconic or those console exclusives where the only way to get them is buying something expensive in real life. Also, remixes are not the aswer either since most remixes usually arent as good as the original or some characters literally cant have other versions for example mandalorian and darth vader. Vader has only ever looked one way and its impossible to make a remix of him. This would all end if epic would simply come out and say it clear as day if they are ever planning to bring back old passes. But for now the best chance we got is when they replay s2 of chapter 1 in the new fortnite og mode.
My original stance on battle pass exclusivity was that collabs should return to the item shop, while original skins stay exclusive. But just a couple days ago I put on Mizuki (from the c4s2 battle pass) and my friend said that the skin was really cool and that they'd buy it the next time it came to the item shop. It made me feel bad to tell them that there's no way to get the skin anymore, just because they happened to not play the game at that time. Epic seems to be moving away from exclusivity in a lot of aspects, I hope that soon we might be able to get old battle pass items as well.

I will forever be pissed about never having Lara Croft. Tomb Raider was my childhood. I played it on the Nintendo DS,Wii,PS3,PS2,PS4 and Series X. I know all the references to the past games of each Lara Croft variant. I know the lore behind the sprays. Yet i never will get that stuff because i didn't play Fortnite during a specific time when i didn't even know they added Lara because all what was talked about more were Kratos and Master Chief. I can tell you that 90% of the people who own Lara are sweaty kids who weren't even born when the 2013 reboot came out. And yes,putting default emotes behind OG passes that are no longer avaible is such a joke. A fucking waving emote would be a free emote in any other game. Crying,Laughing,Waving and sitting are 4 of the most common free emotes in games because they're just so easy to animate and add yet half of them are locked behind battle passes or haven't returned in the store for years for no reason. Exclusivity is also so anti consumer. I find it ironic how Epic Games built their game around exclusivity,wanting you to play their game and not any other game while simultaneously crying about Apple being a monopoly. They keep adding all those modes to compete with every other game while constantly having limited timed stuff but cry when another company doesn't want consumers to interact with other companies. I will forever doubt epic games and will see them as hypocrits. As for story,Destiny 2 is my 2nd live service game. Honestly Epic should take a piece of that game because Destinys story is hard to catch on with removed content but at least at the start of every new season or expansion you have a cutscene that goes over a past season or explains old lore points or even tells you the relationship between characters.
i started playing the season lara croft came out, tbh i hardly use her but i know her notoriety in the game as being a sweat skin. skins overall shouldn't be locked behind battle passes, especially collaboration items since it restricts players who come from different games from playing fortnite to the fullest. i have a couple of exclusives and i just dont care if they add them back if it means other players can have the chance to get the characters and visa versa since i also missed the chance to get many skins that are now rare. and i know a lot of people are gonna cry because "i had it og" but honestly if fortnite does banish exclusivity, it'll not only entice many new and returning players to play the game more but also crash the whole reason why people whine over their accounts being rare: the account market. if people have the chance to get stuff like black knight, the reaper etc it'll crash the market because nothing will be worth anything anymore other than the price tag they have in the shop.

Its punishing for people living a life too. I missed out on spider gwen because of family deaths (yes plural) and other big things happening. I dont think i could look my family members in the eye if i grinded for a digital skin over being there for family members in times of need. And you cant justify buying 50+ tiers for one skin

Hey you also forgot about a Battlepass cosmetic that was brought back from a Battlepass! They brought the “ride the pony” emote out of the season two Battlepass for save the world players including myself!
We won’t see if they actually change how old Battle Passes could come back until February, when the Second OG pass comes out. The current OG pass may just be reskins because Epic wants to keep the Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper exclusive and as soon as Season 2 rolls around we will get the old passes back. If Epic does only make the OG passes reskins then I hope that they reskin every skin in every exclusive pass, not just the most popular ones. If Epic only makes reskins for the most popular skins (skins that most likely already have reskins that may be subpar to the original) then less popular skins like The Visitor, Ruin, AIM, or Mission Specialist would be left out and have no replacement leading to more arguments about the return of Old Passes. Epic really needs to make these OG pass skins way better than their original counterparts so they can shield the backlash of not bringing back old passes. I hope they bring back old passes, I never got Zyg…
When they brought back skull trooper they made a special style for the original owners. They should give original owners of old battle pass skins some special awards.
Im on my knees PRAYING they bring back old battle passes. I have the c3s4 battle pass and onward and I want people to be able to enjoy fun skins like Meow Skulls, but they unfortunately cant. I also want old emotes back because I enjoy the social aspect of the game, but cant do a simple action because I wasnt there to pay for it. Popular (at the time) dances like Hype are forever locked away unless they change this. Like you said, if theyre going for a metaverse-like game with Fortnite, they gotta let us get the old battlepasses to broaden the customization horizons with old skins people used to like.
I think that Fortnite has somewhat solved some of these issues by releasing re-skins of past rare skins. Rebel Raider Original is now back in the OG item shop. I have the re-skin of her and I think the re-skin is cooler looking so I'm not getting the Original.

there WAS mentions about exclusiviti inside the batle pass page in game. If you looked at the battle pass during the period where you claim exclusivity wasn't advertised, it said that those items were not going to come back to the item shop or to anywhere. Ever. It was very small, in the corner of the screen, but it said it. also, you mentione dwayne johnson being locked behind a battle pass. It isn't, the Foundation is, and dwayne johnson plays the foundation, but isnt the foundation. It's like saying that Brian Cranston is dead because he died due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound while saving his student from drug dealers. It's just an actor. IF you want to play as dwayne johnson, get the Black Adam skin Same thing with Brie Larsson.

Seasonal shop skins are back but what's confusing is fortnite are doing og styles only for og owners of those skins. They claim it's for people who supported the game early on but why doesn't that extend to founders or people who purchased regular item shop skins back in season 1?

I think a legacy Battle Pass system that lets anyone buy them, implements time limits to complete them, and provides everyone indefinite time to purchase the remainder of their unfinished Passes, would be a fair system. Restrict first time buyers to work on one Pass at a time to keep people playing. Alternatively, let everyone purchase and play (or replay) through any expired Battle Passes, one at a time. Let the player pay for the remainder of their pass before time expires. Once time expires, reset their Battle Pass level, and require a fee to reactivate it. Additionally, give out loyalty discounts exclusively to long-time players. Also add profile stats that, at the players discretion, will show things like total playtime, original start date, date a player obtained a particular item, etc.
I can understand cosmetics from someone like travis to be exclusive, since it needs contracts and shit, but epic owned cosmetics just seems like they hate money.

Also they never mentioned them never coming back, only as exclusive, it could be a timed exclusive sort of a deal like we see with movies. When a company like Sony puts "only in theaters" on their advertisements for their films does that mean they're never coming to streaming services or home media? No, exclusivity was also never defined, it's never said to be indefinite and could be timed, thus you the player had exclusivity on these items for as many years as claimed. Epic games as a company could also just as easily change their minds in regards to the subject I also don't think there would be any harm to re-releasing these cosmetics seeing as they're still inside of players accounts and assuming they completed the passes, they still have the v-Bucks they earned and put into the pass back, they also bought the items at a massive and considerable discount. As a player who owns a number of exclusive battlepass cosmetics, I believe they should return for newer players, and there's no actual legal issues preventing them from bringing them back, only stubborn players who desperately want to hold bragging rights to these items

i started playing in season 2, i first bought the battle pass in season 6, tier 100 too. i would not care in the least if they came back in fact i would support it coming back, my proposal for the people showing off what season they started playing in is to just have a badge on their profile and a back bling that shows when they started playing and give it a theme for each season.
the exclusivity of these items has been interesting. they say itll stay like that but i feel like someone over there that operates the items cycling in and out in the item shop is doing that on purpose. look at tidy and rambunctious for example when they "randomly" came back in 2022 back to back lol im certain its someone "accidentally" releasing the items these days. back then when the mako glider and the nvidia exclusive skin came to the shop, those were accidental and were errors. these days i dont believe any of this stuff is an error. someone working there is wanting chaos
as someone whos had every pass since c1s5, every starterpack since c1s6, every crew and almost every stw pack, i do think the fomo they have and their marketing for a metaverse really is dumb, i do hope edventually hope at some point alot of this fomo is entirely purged so other people can collect these cosmetics. its REALLY sad alot of people cannot get the fucking witcher, or solid snake, the orignal deadpool, darth vader, optimus prime, or even rick sanchez plus the issues with the itemshop, is actually really damaging since they release the same few cosmetics daily, they NEED to turn the itemshop into a catalogue like theyve done with the jam tracks. they have alot of cosmetics that they dont rotate after their first release. and its reallly upsetting because theres so much stuff i wouldve wanted but they just simply dont ever return

i remember hearing omega lights were time gated in season four so i grinded harder than ever (after playing everyday for the season) and was still 2 levels away from it by the end of the season. i have always hated time limited things like that.
I feel like a good small step into bringing back old battle passes is letting players finish their battle passes from past seasons they might have not completed. Maybe they didn’t finish it due to being grounded or losing their console or they just got Burnt out from Fortnite, but want to finish them still.

I really just want Lynx. I started in season 12. I feel like most people who have the chapter one things always have that mindset of “the newer players want our rare skins”, and that’s true, but chat I just want that one level 1 skin from season 7. Idc if I have Midas, idc if I have eternal knight, I don’t want renegade raider, I don’t want black knight. I get that a lot of little kids want the rare things. But I don’t, kinda unfortunate that I get thrown into the “dumb little kids who wants wenegade waidah” group.

It looks like you predicted exactly what is happening now. With OG, now all the old exclusive stuff is coming back. Also you described exactly why I played for seven+ years straight unlocking everything...the sunk cost fallacy and fomo. The game is interesting for like a week or two each new season but gets boring pretty quickly. However, I always kept playing because I had to finish the BP to get the exclusive rewards and not create gaps in my collection. It took renegade raider coming back for me to realize I don't even play the game because it's fun but because I've already sunk so much time into creating a rare sought after skin locker. There was like an addiction or obligation to play built in that immediately left me when the shop updated to have renegade raider. And honestly, I rarely if ever used BP skins or rare items, I just felt the need to get them. It all changed in an instant when the shop updated. It opened my eyes to how I didn't really enjoy playing the game for the sake of playing and having fun but for collecting and the collecting has lost all its appeal now. If everybody has a first edition Holo Charizard Pokemon card then it's not special anymore. That's what just happened with Fortnite lockers. I guess it's good for new players who legitimately want certain skins because they think they're cool or attractive, but all of the skins that were special and iconic simply for their rarity have lost all their shine. Taking away fomo and exclusivity takes away the incentive to consistently play the game, at least for me.
I liked the video and I appreciate the points made however epic literally advertised the battle pass rewards as exclusive and have stated on countless occasions that they will never be re-released so it would be illegal for them to suddenly revert that after people spent money on the battlepass based on that. They could change it moving forward for future battle passes but the previous rewards will never be re-released unless they refund the people who bought the battlepasses and even then I'd imagine dong so would put them at risk of lawsuits for false advertising etc..
That's why I'm only after Franchise skins that I like. I have a list of the ones I missed before I started playing in December 2023. And whenever I see one of them, I get it, plus the skins I like. And it's still sad as fuck that some skins will really never return.

I hate exclusivity, I've not missed a single battle pass skin since c2s3 but the fact that I just can't get any items (especially Catalyst) despite the fact that I'd pay to buy them.
Great video! As someone who has been playing for nearly 7 years straight, exclusivity needs to end. If someone likes a character, they should be able to get that character. Also I find it hilarious that this video was written and released during the worst possible time since Chapter 6 has changed how everything works regarding passes and exclusivity. Currently the season 1 exclusive cosmetics are purchasable for anyone which is a huge step forward.
Id give up all my exclusive collab skins like Mando and Vader if it meant they were put into the item shop for everyone to buy. Lots of collab characters will remain relevant in the future and it sucks that kids 10 years from now wont even be able to play as their favourite characters
It's nice that at least we have BP skins returning after 18 months since Doom season. I've been asking like you can't imagine how everywhere, if the OG pass skins will be affected by this shop treatment. I honestly really like these old yet reimagined skins, but I'm keeping an eye on a future pass that contains potential skins that gets me way more hyped. Thank you before-hand.
i think they should do something similar to what Overwatch did in the past. every new event that had new cosmetics were triple the price, but once that event ends, the skins wouldn’t be available for purchase until that event the next year, at a lower price. i think the battle pass should be an opportunity to get multiple cosmetics at a good price, then a year from that, circulate them at normal shop prices for those who missed out and want to collect skins.

@@willowthe_birdwatcher3268 Renegade Raider was the last skin I would expect them to try reselling, so if they're willing to resell that then they're going to resell anything that people are willing to pay for. I am concerned they might use the Season Shop and its XP requirement as a way to sell battle pass items at a massively increased price, though.
Exclusivity isn't going to be dead until they find a better way to compensate players than just making an OG style, but as long as it doesn't overshadow the original in the 'looking cool' department I'd consider it a fair compromise (not sure how you make an OG style for emotes or sprays, though).

This really goes back for me when I wanted the "Vi" skin from the crew pass from the time. I was only in Middle School at the time, and I was saving up and debating about it... then I ran out of time since Vi was February's skin (I think), the shortest month. C2 S5 was the roughest season for me.
Well, as of today, the Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper skins have returned to the shop. So I guess it's another step in getting rid of exclusivity
Renegade and aerial were both in the exact same boat of vague nondescript exclusivity as the c2s1-c2s6 skins so those passes could come back if more people realize they never were called exclusive

Once Spider-Man was in the battle pass I knew exclusivity was on borrowed time. I mean sure there were big characters locked away before main one being Superman. However they made basic ass vanilla Spider-Man with comic colors and all exclusive. That’s how I knew it’s only a matter of time. Then Darth Vader just cemented the fact.

you never really realize how gross the battle pass monetization is until someone points it out to you, there really are so many times I wanted to quit this game but knew if I ever came back I'd have missed out on so much that its easier to just find ways to farm the battle pass and get it out of the way for games I actually still enjoy

I use to feel the same way, where if I quit the game I'd miss out on the cosmetics and that created so much fomo for me that I'd play just so I could get some random skin or cosmetic I'd never use. Then I missed out on a BP and I realized something, at the of the day it's just a game and will eventually die, all the cosmetics I missed will disappear one day. It's all a bit silly to worry about such little things.

This has got to be one of the best videos discussing this topic. Most just say their stance is, but u actually provided actual good ways epic could approach this, most being really good ideas. Some are very similar to the ideas i had like the one with letting us progress old passes only after reaching level 200. Since after 200 there's really no point for levels. Thats usually when i stop playing in a season, only coming back when they add events, when the secret skin comws out, or to finish up story quests. Giving crew subscribers the option to either buy old passes or having them included is also a good idea, and i feel epic would do that since they always want to make the crew more enticing. Independently of all this, like the "skin catalog" idea, being able to look at every single skin and having details on each one like how to get them. Personally i think they should bring back everything. Once exception i would have is with skins like galaxy or iconic or those console exclusives where the only way to get them is buying something expensive in real life. Also, remixes are not the aswer either since most remixes usually arent as good as the original or some characters literally cant have other versions for example mandalorian and darth vader. Vader has only ever looked one way and its impossible to make a remix of him. This would all end if epic would simply come out and say it clear as day if they are ever planning to bring back old passes. But for now the best chance we got is when they replay s2 of chapter 1 in the new fortnite og mode.
My original stance on battle pass exclusivity was that collabs should return to the item shop, while original skins stay exclusive.
But just a couple days ago I put on Mizuki (from the c4s2 battle pass) and my friend said that the skin was really cool and that they'd buy it the next time it came to the item shop. It made me feel bad to tell them that there's no way to get the skin anymore, just because they happened to not play the game at that time.
Epic seems to be moving away from exclusivity in a lot of aspects, I hope that soon we might be able to get old battle pass items as well.

I will forever be pissed about never having Lara Croft. Tomb Raider was my childhood. I played it on the Nintendo DS,Wii,PS3,PS2,PS4 and Series X. I know all the references to the past games of each Lara Croft variant. I know the lore behind the sprays. Yet i never will get that stuff because i didn't play Fortnite during a specific time when i didn't even know they added Lara because all what was talked about more were Kratos and Master Chief. I can tell you that 90% of the people who own Lara are sweaty kids who weren't even born when the 2013 reboot came out.
And yes,putting default emotes behind OG passes that are no longer avaible is such a joke. A fucking waving emote would be a free emote in any other game. Crying,Laughing,Waving and sitting are 4 of the most common free emotes in games because they're just so easy to animate and add yet half of them are locked behind battle passes or haven't returned in the store for years for no reason.
Exclusivity is also so anti consumer. I find it ironic how Epic Games built their game around exclusivity,wanting you to play their game and not any other game while simultaneously crying about Apple being a monopoly. They keep adding all those modes to compete with every other game while constantly having limited timed stuff but cry when another company doesn't want consumers to interact with other companies. I will forever doubt epic games and will see them as hypocrits.
As for story,Destiny 2 is my 2nd live service game. Honestly Epic should take a piece of that game because Destinys story is hard to catch on with removed content but at least at the start of every new season or expansion you have a cutscene that goes over a past season or explains old lore points or even tells you the relationship between characters.
i started playing the season lara croft came out, tbh i hardly use her but i know her notoriety in the game as being a sweat skin. skins overall shouldn't be locked behind battle passes, especially collaboration items since it restricts players who come from different games from playing fortnite to the fullest. i have a couple of exclusives and i just dont care if they add them back if it means other players can have the chance to get the characters and visa versa since i also missed the chance to get many skins that are now rare. and i know a lot of people are gonna cry because "i had it og" but honestly if fortnite does banish exclusivity, it'll not only entice many new and returning players to play the game more but also crash the whole reason why people whine over their accounts being rare: the account market. if people have the chance to get stuff like black knight, the reaper etc it'll crash the market because nothing will be worth anything anymore other than the price tag they have in the shop.

2nd paragraph: pretty big non issue. Very easy to just make variations of these gestures and people are ok without them. Text chat pretty much removes the need for 90 percent of them anyway for communications sake.

However ultimately while epic didn’t do sue Apple for noble reasons, they did reform a lot of apples policies and are the only ones to directly fight Apple in years. Exclusive items are a non issue.

We won’t see if they actually change how old Battle Passes could come back until February, when the Second OG pass comes out. The current OG pass may just be reskins because Epic wants to keep the Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper exclusive and as soon as Season 2 rolls around we will get the old passes back. If Epic does only make the OG passes reskins then I hope that they reskin every skin in every exclusive pass, not just the most popular ones. If Epic only makes reskins for the most popular skins (skins that most likely already have reskins that may be subpar to the original) then less popular skins like The Visitor, Ruin, AIM, or Mission Specialist would be left out and have no replacement leading to more arguments about the return of Old Passes. Epic really needs to make these OG pass skins way better than their original counterparts so they can shield the backlash of not bringing back old passes. I hope they bring back old passes, I never got Zyg…

Im on my knees PRAYING they bring back old battle passes. I have the c3s4 battle pass and onward and I want people to be able to enjoy fun skins like Meow Skulls, but they unfortunately cant. I also want old emotes back because I enjoy the social aspect of the game, but cant do a simple action because I wasnt there to pay for it. Popular (at the time) dances like Hype are forever locked away unless they change this. Like you said, if theyre going for a metaverse-like game with Fortnite, they gotta let us get the old battlepasses to broaden the customization horizons with old skins people used to like.

I think that Fortnite has somewhat solved some of these issues by releasing re-skins of past rare skins. Rebel Raider Original is now back in the OG item shop. I have the re-skin of her and I think the re-skin is cooler looking so I'm not getting the Original.

there WAS mentions about exclusiviti inside the batle pass page in game. If you looked at the battle pass during the period where you claim exclusivity wasn't advertised, it said that those items were not going to come back to the item shop or to anywhere. Ever. It was very small, in the corner of the screen, but it said it.
also, you mentione dwayne johnson being locked behind a battle pass. It isn't, the Foundation is, and dwayne johnson plays the foundation, but isnt the foundation. It's like saying that Brian Cranston is dead because he died due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound while saving his student from drug dealers. It's just an actor. IF you want to play as dwayne johnson, get the Black Adam skin Same thing with Brie Larsson.

Halo Infinite's battle pass system is way better too. They're still purchasable after the season ends so no FOMO.
I think a legacy Battle Pass system that lets anyone buy them, implements time limits to complete them, and provides everyone indefinite time to purchase the remainder of their unfinished Passes, would be a fair system. Restrict first time buyers to work on one Pass at a time to keep people playing. Alternatively, let everyone purchase and play (or replay) through any expired Battle Passes, one at a time. Let the player pay for the remainder of their pass before time expires. Once time expires, reset their Battle Pass level, and require a fee to reactivate it. Additionally, give out loyalty discounts exclusively to long-time players. Also add profile stats that, at the players discretion, will show things like total playtime, original start date, date a player obtained a particular item, etc.
I can understand cosmetics from someone like travis to be exclusive, since it needs contracts and shit, but epic owned cosmetics just seems like they hate money.

When a company like Sony puts "only in theaters" on their advertisements for their films does that mean they're never coming to streaming services or home media? No, exclusivity was also never defined, it's never said to be indefinite and could be timed, thus you the player had exclusivity on these items for as many years as claimed. Epic games as a company could also just as easily change their minds in regards to the subject
I also don't think there would be any harm to re-releasing these cosmetics seeing as they're still inside of players accounts and assuming they completed the passes, they still have the v-Bucks they earned and put into the pass back, they also bought the items at a massive and considerable discount. As a player who owns a number of exclusive battlepass cosmetics, I believe they should return for newer players, and there's no actual legal issues preventing them from bringing them back, only stubborn players who desperately want to hold bragging rights to these items

i started playing in season 2, i first bought the battle pass in season 6, tier 100 too. i would not care in the least if they came back in fact i would support it coming back, my proposal for the people showing off what season they started playing in is to just have a badge on their profile and a back bling that shows when they started playing and give it a theme for each season.

the exclusivity of these items has been interesting. they say itll stay like that but i feel like someone over there that operates the items cycling in and out in the item shop is doing that on purpose. look at tidy and rambunctious for example when they "randomly" came back in 2022 back to back lol im certain its someone "accidentally" releasing the items these days. back then when the mako glider and the nvidia exclusive skin came to the shop, those were accidental and were errors. these days i dont believe any of this stuff is an error. someone working there is wanting chaos
as someone whos had every pass since c1s5, every starterpack since c1s6, every crew and almost every stw pack, i do think the fomo they have and their marketing for a metaverse really is dumb, i do hope edventually hope at some point alot of this fomo is entirely purged so other people can collect these cosmetics.
its REALLY sad alot of people cannot get the fucking witcher, or solid snake, the orignal deadpool, darth vader, optimus prime, or even rick sanchez
plus the issues with the itemshop, is actually really damaging since they release the same few cosmetics daily, they NEED to turn the itemshop into a catalogue like theyve done with the jam tracks. they have alot of cosmetics that they dont rotate after their first release. and its reallly upsetting because theres so much stuff i wouldve wanted but they just simply dont ever return
Encore Mode is so cool. It's definitely the best option and that's why I doubt it would ever exist unfortunately 😔
The super styles part is what makes it seem unlikely but if it started at level 100 I could see them doing something similar

i remember hearing omega lights were time gated in season four so i grinded harder than ever (after playing everyday for the season) and was still 2 levels away from it by the end of the season. i have always hated time limited things like that.
oh yeah also the level for the lights (level 80) was the equivalent of level 400 now
Bros we suffered for lvl 100 styles, the grind for smthn like gold Ice King was insane compared to now

I feel like a good small step into bringing back old battle passes is letting players finish their battle passes from past seasons they might have not completed. Maybe they didn’t finish it due to being grounded or losing their console or they just got Burnt out from Fortnite, but want to finish them still.

I really just want Lynx. I started in season 12. I feel like most people who have the chapter one things always have that mindset of “the newer players want our rare skins”, and that’s true, but chat I just want that one level 1 skin from season 7. Idc if I have Midas, idc if I have eternal knight, I don’t want renegade raider, I don’t want black knight. I get that a lot of little kids want the rare things. But I don’t, kinda unfortunate that I get thrown into the “dumb little kids who wants wenegade waidah” group.
It’s also gotten to the point of where if I see a rare skin (namely renegade raider) it’s like “oh look that guy has that skin!” But it’s not anything I care about. I say namely renegade raider cause unless it’s sparkle specialist or aerial assault trooper I don’t even know what’s in old battle passes or exclusive from 2017

They're bringing back the old seasons, but with new passes
It looks like you predicted exactly what is happening now. With OG, now all the old exclusive stuff is coming back. Also you described exactly why I played for seven+ years straight unlocking everything...the sunk cost fallacy and fomo. The game is interesting for like a week or two each new season but gets boring pretty quickly. However, I always kept playing because I had to finish the BP to get the exclusive rewards and not create gaps in my collection. It took renegade raider coming back for me to realize I don't even play the game because it's fun but because I've already sunk so much time into creating a rare sought after skin locker. There was like an addiction or obligation to play built in that immediately left me when the shop updated to have renegade raider. And honestly, I rarely if ever used BP skins or rare items, I just felt the need to get them. It all changed in an instant when the shop updated. It opened my eyes to how I didn't really enjoy playing the game for the sake of playing and having fun but for collecting and the collecting has lost all its appeal now. If everybody has a first edition Holo Charizard Pokemon card then it's not special anymore. That's what just happened with Fortnite lockers. I guess it's good for new players who legitimately want certain skins because they think they're cool or attractive, but all of the skins that were special and iconic simply for their rarity have lost all their shine. Taking away fomo and exclusivity takes away the incentive to consistently play the game, at least for me.
I liked the video and I appreciate the points made however epic literally advertised the battle pass rewards as exclusive and have stated on countless occasions that they will never be re-released so it would be illegal for them to suddenly revert that after people spent money on the battlepass based on that. They could change it moving forward for future battle passes but the previous rewards will never be re-released unless they refund the people who bought the battlepasses and even then I'd imagine dong so would put them at risk of lawsuits for false advertising etc..
That's why I'm only after Franchise skins that I like.
I have a list of the ones I missed before I started playing in December 2023.
And whenever I see one of them, I get it, plus the skins I like.
And it's still sad as fuck that some skins will really never return.
Dude same, I picked up the game in August 2023 after not playing since October 2018! I got a list of skins I wish I got too like Darth Vader. I feel like exclusivity won't last forever, I just hope I am doing good financially when it actually happens!

Epic would be better off financialy to not bring back battle passes, as they can reskin things over and over until the end of time, and without exclusive stuff there's nothing to reskin. Also, bringning back OG battle passes is a one-and-done thing. It will be hype for about the first two weeks, and then Epic will make WAY less on them as everyone got the 1-2 skins they were looking for.

I hate exclusivity, I've not missed a single battle pass skin since c2s3 but the fact that I just can't get any items (especially Catalyst) despite the fact that I'd pay to buy them.
Great video! As someone who has been playing for nearly 7 years straight, exclusivity needs to end. If someone likes a character, they should be able to get that character. Also I find it hilarious that this video was written and released during the worst possible time since Chapter 6 has changed how everything works regarding passes and exclusivity. Currently the season 1 exclusive cosmetics are purchasable for anyone which is a huge step forward.

Id give up all my exclusive collab skins like Mando and Vader if it meant they were put into the item shop for everyone to buy. Lots of collab characters will remain relevant in the future and it sucks that kids 10 years from now wont even be able to play as their favourite characters

It's nice that at least we have BP skins returning after 18 months since Doom season. I've been asking like you can't imagine how everywhere, if the OG pass skins will be affected by this shop treatment. I honestly really like these old yet reimagined skins, but I'm keeping an eye on a future pass that contains potential skins that gets me way more hyped. Thank you before-hand.

i think they should do something similar to what Overwatch did in the past. every new event that had new cosmetics were triple the price, but once that event ends, the skins wouldn’t be available for purchase until that event the next year, at a lower price. i think the battle pass should be an opportunity to get multiple cosmetics at a good price, then a year from that, circulate them at normal shop prices for those who missed out and want to collect skins.
