I've hated how unprofessional the UI has looked this chapter with every tab looking like it comes from a different game. These are really nice and cohesive designs
Yea for how big of a company this is, how big of a game this is, how much money epic has, its pretty jarring to go from UIs made in 2024 and then look at the compete and v-bucks tab from 2018..
i agree. they claimed it was an outdated system, but different rarities equated to different quality of skin and price. If that no longer matters, then make every gun in the game grey, but display its damage. Some guns will do more than others. boom.

I remember those. I also remember in Chapter 2 season 3 there were these storyline quests for Siona and the Coral Buddies. I feel like Epic stopped caring about making creative achievement cards after chapter 3, because most of them became just basic feats like "500 AR damage in a match"
Yess bro I was gonna say this they need to bring them back they were so cool and if they bring them back they need to restore all of your previously acquired achievements. The strangest thing is that chapter 4 season 4 had achievements but they got removed later in the season.
EPIC NEEDS TO HIRE THIS MAN. Everything you have changed with the UI is just perfect. it looks modern, it looks clean, and surprisingly, looks like FORTNITE. I hope this video blows up enough that epic will see this and take action. Not to mention, those new rarities you added to the locker/skins, look so good. The colours just complement each other, and it isn't specifically rarities either, it's more like categories, and i love it. And Epic can still keep the no guaranteed prices sort of thing they've been doing the last year since their not really rarities. Anyway, love the work bro, keep it up.
5:34-6:43 I don’t really love this idea because people will still prefer old rarities to come back. I had an idea of colored customizable tags that you could put onto any cosmetic of your choice. They don’t mean anything or have a name other than (green, blue, purple, etc.), but players can put their own meaning to it and I think most people would just use them to label certain cosmetics as uncommon, rare, etc. This way, epic doesn’t have to worry about rarities while players can bring back the rarities for themselves.
I agree bringing the og rairities back is much better, but this has atleast some way of telling your items different. Now everything is colourless, boring and hard to find

With this set up, it's reminding me how much I miss seeing the news feed pop up on screen the moment you opened the game. Like that better than showing that dang discovery feed first...
I literally haven't changed my skin or made a new preset with wraps and stuff since the chapter began, its literally so frustrating hovering over an item, trying to get it to spin/rotate and then selecting something completely different 😭
I feel like a good design would be just letting you chose which ui you would like so instead of being forced to stick with the current on you can chose between the chaper 1, chapter 2(dont know if they changed ui in chap 3-4) and the chap5 ui.
The Lobby screen and discover tab are genuine perfection, but the locker is definitely a downgrade from the previous concept imo. The tags idea is good, but I prefer actual rarities, and emotes and lobby still being separated annoys me. Also the Save The World Homebase tab was completely forgotten in this one. I like the redesigned shop, and the Battle Pass screen is great, but I have no problem with the current quest tab ui, I don't really use the compete tab, and the career tab should just be a redesigned version of the old one. I miss the achievements.
For REAL also not having to do with ui but they need to let us customize the controls on controller I'm so tired of my buttons flip flopping between stw and literally everything else
Play UI: 9/10 Not much to gripe on it, I think it looks fun, It's just that the bottom left screen could use something special, perhaps a mode pick, like which one you want to play. Mode Search UI: 10/10 It feels the same but it's not a bad thing, it feels good to look at and its easy to understand, which is what Epic should've done from the start and the way you did it certainly needs to become official. Locker UI: Also 10/10 Needless to say, your vision is WAY better because it's actually possible to understand from the getgo. Shop UI: 8/10 Doesn't really fix the main issue with it but gives a neat bandaid for it, the main problem is still the fact that you cannot search for a song of your chosing without, what Epic Employee literally told me in the letter, going into their website pressing Windows key + G and looking up this way. It's idiotic that you can't find everything in the shop from the getgo and with a search function. Battle Pass: 10/10 Cooked well with this, feels way better to look as well, not much gripe at all so yeah, really good job. The rest is also fantastic and I think I will give it an 8.10 Feels weird but managable as well, would take a bit of getting used to it.
Epic, pls make that!! Things like the friends menu and the play button on the left side are a “must do” (as a designer for fn) in Fortnite… Also the locker and the stats etc. are very well designed by you!! Keep it up
One important thing u didn't talk about: saved loadouts, when we saving a new loadout it'd be great to have it at the top and push the older one one place

Although I agree that input bindings are preferrable for interacting with items in the grid view, I think the triple dot menu needs to stick around in some parts, such as on item slots, and as a replacement for the per-page preset buttons. On item slots they can let you immediately edit the slotted item without clicking into the grid, and for the preset buttons they'll allow them to be accessible on controller like they are currently Regarding the emote wheel, THANK YOU FOR ACKNOWLEDGING THE ORDERING OF TBE EMOTE WHEEL, the ordering issue also applies to alphanumeric sorting of multi-page sections and has been driving me insane. Also, the multi-page locker emote section is another great idea Each vehicle should probably have 2 rows of 3 for each vehicle, otherwise the rows become too wide and encroach on the preview area In the Jam Out section, again, i think tole sizes should be consistent, and worth the slightly imbalanced spacing Regarding the Lego and Fall Guys variants, unfortunately those are considered the same item as the skins used in other gamemodes, so although slotting different items per gamemode is theoretically possible, its impossible to only archive one version of a skin without archiving all of them, same with favouriting them "Custom sorting" in the item grid would be a logistical nightmare with the way the internal item system works, its a LOT easier said than done The "View Character" toggle should probably be moved to the bottom with the rest of the keybinds, both for consistency and to allow it to work with controller input

12:12 Scrolling through the quests on PC is a nightmare. Either my mouse wheel is broken, or just a third of the scroll inputs are actually being registered. Epic, please just add a scroll bar that you can drag
Idk why epic wants to fix things that people are fine with and changes things we had from the start instead of changing things people want to change. But one of my least favorite thing is that they added is not having skin rarity or the career tab where you could see the quests you done on a certain date, the new item shop is bad, and the main screen were the ready button on the left side and there is no challenge to look at. What I mean is everything that was good that they tried to change is terrible now.

you cooked 🔥🔥🔥 only thing i'd personally change from your concept is the quest page. i think that maybe instead of the br/reload/etc menu, you could have each modes quests be separated by a title. so it would be "Battle Royale" with the br quests underneath it, then "Reload" with the reload quests underneath it, etc.
Also, I know you see few problems with the career tab other than the mode stuff. Heck, I like it too. But it doesn’t accurately track my stats. And the fact that we lost the career timeline just for a menu that doesn’t even correctly track my stats pains me.

Great vid, great changes! Also... the sorting filter in the locker: Something has broken the "Recent" sorting option, or... Epic has started to consider skins from ch5s2's BP to have been unlocked recently. I used it all the time to easily find skins i just bought or unlocked and there was maybe 5-8 things in "Recent". Now its doomed to scroll-town aswell.

The way the ready up button was awkwardly covering part of the 4th player in the lobby was probably why they changed it, and I don't mind it. There's a lot more space on the left side. that looks empty without something there.
why can't they just make it so we can scroll through UIs like a web page instead of having to wait for the scroll animation to finish before scrolling again. It would save so much time i feel like and you could use the middle mouse button to scroll extremely fast
Hey since you seem to be the Fortnite UI guy, I have an idea that I wouldn’t be able to make, but you would. Back in the day when you would load up Fortnite, you would have your big 3 modes; battle royale, creative, and save the world. I wish that Fortnite would do something similar to that since the game is very cluttered. When you load up the game, I want a combat/pvp tab, creative tab, lego tab, festival tab, and save the world tab. For example, things that would go into the combat/pvp tab would be og battle royale with its ranked and zero build options, all reload options, ballistic, and chapter 6 battle royale. If you could make something like this and put it out there for epic to see, that would be great. Thanks.

I haven't seen the full video as of now, but I hope there was an easier way of moving presets. Instead of having to select and delete and make a new one, we could tap and drag a preset and move it in between each preset. Also, i wish the lobby tracks could switch after the song finishes instead of replaying repeatedly.

if they arent going to bring back rarities, and are pushing their customizable features, this is the best way to go

Idk why epic wants to fix things that people are fine with and changes things we had from the start instead of changing things people want to change. But one of my least favorite thing is that they added is not having skin rarity or the career tab where you could see the quests you done on a certain date, the new item shop is bad, and the main screen were the ready button on the left side and there is no challenge to look at. What I mean is everything that was good that they tried to change is terrible now.

only thing i'd personally change from your concept is the quest page. i think that maybe instead of the br/reload/etc menu, you could have each modes quests be separated by a title. so it would be "Battle Royale" with the br quests underneath it, then "Reload" with the reload quests underneath it, etc.

Also, I know you see few problems with the career tab other than the mode stuff. Heck, I like it too. But it doesn’t accurately track my stats. And the fact that we lost the career timeline just for a menu that doesn’t even correctly track my stats pains me.

Great vid, great changes! Also... the sorting filter in the locker: Something has broken the "Recent" sorting option, or... Epic has started to consider skins from ch5s2's BP to have been unlocked recently. I used it all the time to easily find skins i just bought or unlocked and there was maybe 5-8 things in "Recent". Now its doomed to scroll-town aswell.

The way the ready up button was awkwardly covering part of the 4th player in the lobby was probably why they changed it, and I don't mind it. There's a lot more space on the left side. that looks empty without something there.
why can't they just make it so we can scroll through UIs like a web page instead of having to wait for the scroll animation to finish before scrolling again. It would save so much time i feel like and you could use the middle mouse button to scroll extremely fast
Hey since you seem to be the Fortnite UI guy, I have an idea that I wouldn’t be able to make, but you would. Back in the day when you would load up Fortnite, you would have your big 3 modes; battle royale, creative, and save the world. I wish that Fortnite would do something similar to that since the game is very cluttered. When you load up the game, I want a combat/pvp tab, creative tab, lego tab, festival tab, and save the world tab. For example, things that would go into the combat/pvp tab would be og battle royale with its ranked and zero build options, all reload options, ballistic, and chapter 6 battle royale. If you could make something like this and put it out there for epic to see, that would be great. Thanks.

I tried to create something in line with epics ideas and designs, so that its not a farfetched concept and something we could actually see added
Something like rounded corners for example i dont like, but there’s no way Epic will go back on that anytime soon so i included them in my concepts
Based on the feedback they got for removing the timer, and then never deciding to add it back, i just figured that’s a lost cause lol

I haven't seen the full video as of now, but I hope there was an easier way of moving presets. Instead of having to select and delete and make a new one, we could tap and drag a preset and move it in between each preset. Also, i wish the lobby tracks could switch after the song finishes instead of replaying repeatedly.
Dude I especially love the new rarity colors. They look so spectacular and would make locker much more colorful plus the pickaxe colors you’d see in game
