I have over 1000 days completed on this game, started back in 2018. I remember watching David Dean 24/7 just for his builds, along with TeamVash. The community is still here, there are still a lot of players grinding this game out, including myself, it is so much fun. I personally love ventures. New players will never understand the struggle of having to hit each piece of build in your SSD to knock it all down. unlike now where is destroys after 1 hit. Good times, good video, good memories.
That last part in fact was not a good time. Nor was it even close to a fun system lol. This games worst change to date though? The damn running. It’s nasty. Other than that, this game thrives. Beautiful game. - ultimate founders pack owner
I'm at nearly 1500 days in played it on and off since first day on early access but paid so i could get STW its wasn't much if i remember correctly you can make a lot out of stw with tryn new hero builds weapon builds theirs so much to the game thn ppl think and i quite hapily put another 1500 thers alot of hours of gameplay for howeverb you would like to play the game tht was my draw to the game was i could try so many builds with differant wepons and abilities and belebe me there as so much out there tht make the game feel like tht first tyime u ever playd it again go on give it a go use a differant hero u nevere use pick a fun buils and i can guarante 90% of u will get tht feeling again tht made u love this game in the first pace but i do not agree with STW is dead while there are even players playn thers still love for the gam this is jst my oppinion.
@Benny ah yes ezekiel 33:12. mother teresa, gandhi, and the millions of non christians genuinely being kind and making the world a better place, but theyre just gonna get tossed in the hell bin lmao. all hitler had to do was repent though and he all good to come in though because he at least think jesus = cool and real when i think of catholicism or christianity i think of times of stuff like galileos story and his house arrest, and "4 corners" being mentioned multiple times in the bible... u ppl were literally some of the first flat earthers lmao get a grip. i can just sniff the "theres no morality without christianity" on u and its putrid. i can only guess what u think of poorer countries and their ppl. i hope u geniunely stop talking to that brick wall soon and get better if possible. actually work on getting better urself too though dont just ask sky daddy or something when i think of catholicism or christianity i also think of all the religious exemption laws, ESPECIALLY the medical exemption laws where hundreds of children have died and suffered because their parents were "christian scientists" that "didnt believe in medicine and physical ailments" and how they can just "pray the sick away" .... i know that because i literally GREW UP IN IT !!! my mom wouldnt even let me fucking have cough medicine growing up, and i was raised in johanessburg... i couldve died as a child because of this, and it wouldve been the least unholy thing to make a child sick and die. like the millions "god does make sick and die" by the millions every day, but dont worry he just has a reason we just dont get lol. when i think of catholicism or christianity i think of the staggering numbers of clergy abuse, its to the point to where church molestation insurance is a thing .... the same ppl calling gay ppl groomers just for telling ppl its ok to be gay and nothing else, just because of verses like leviticus 18:22 .... WHICH PPL SAY IS A LAW ONLY PRIESTS FOLLOW BUT STILL DO (it might genuinely be a mistranslation from ancient hebrew too thats the even more sad part) .. when i think of catholicism or christianity i remember how theres literally practices like "modern revelation" where u have an old guy telling ppl he can literally talk to jesus and makes changes to scripture based on that, like they just kinda pop out their jesus flip phone and dial em up or smth no idea haha there is hundreds like me that will never follow gods word again, and the sad part is ive met many like me that have stopped being religious purely just because of how much we were fucking suffering. u couldnt tell most of us that any god was listening to us
It's a damn shame how a game like this ends up abandoned by the team behind it. Despite all we commanders have been through we're still here and still doing our part even though they gave up long ago. Keep fighting the good fight my fellow commanders
This is nothing new. Epic is famous for abandoning games. First paragon, then the ENTIRE unreal tournament franchise (lmao), not at all surprised that this is next.
I'm pretty sure that if they made this mode F2P and give the same amount of love to it, it would really pay off in the long run. I don't even play against people anymore, I just spam bot lobbies to do the challenges and complete the BP
It's still annoying that when you're rescue survivors and they're stuck in the walls or you can't call the medbot and you're stuck waiting 10 minutes for the mission to end
Hey, you missed that they added crouching after 6 years, along with other movement features like sprinting. They were all ported from BR and crouching especially broke some maps, but it was still awesome being able to do basic movement features
Couldn't agree more. when I got into stw, after playing br tons, it felt so awkward to me not being able to crouch or sprint slide. Thankful now you can switch between the two decently enough.
Save The World was and still is truly unique. No other game except for Pokémon has managed to capture my interest and time so much, which makes its demise so hard to stomach. With a proper budget and development cycle it could have been so much bigger and better than Destiny 2.
No I don't think it would be able to beat D2. Destiny is the main looter shooter and the games are so very different. Also its game mechanics and raids are a tuff to beat and the gun play as well. And D2 appeals to a different player base because it doesn't look cartoony like fortnite does and I know lots of people who play destiny and hate those types of games. And also destiny is a FPS and fortnite is 3rd person. look at all the games that tried to beat D2 and they were all in 3rd person and failed really bad. And in my opinion destiny has the best gun mechanics then any other game even cod. every single gun feels different and does different things. so even with a really good dev team on stw it would not be able to beat destiny as destiny is destiny and no other game has even come close to beating it in the looter shooter genre. there are even more reason why it wouldn't even come close to beating destiny but there's to many and I'm not typing them all. But I'm not gonna lie D2 right now is in a really tough spot and if a game comes out that even closely resembles destiny its over for Bungie. sorry if this is super jumbled up im super tried and about to go to bed.
I just wish we could have a story expansion. The comedy is so good, the charisma the characters have, the energetic voice acting. This game feels passionate and natural, but yet overshadowed by the BR and Epic's greed. The ending cutscene is cool but it doesn't put and ending for the story and it feels it's lacking something, it ends giving you a taste of "I want more" and it never gives you. Man, there just something about Ray that makes this game feels even better. Her voice lines and personality are so unique and funny and also human (ironic, since she's a robot) but it makes it feel like it have some effort, the jokes are well written, the game is well written. That whole arc in the early Canny Valley when Ray had a crush on Syd and Lard stood with Ray and Sid to reunite his band, it makes that moment feels special, you can feel the emotions the characters are feeling. Idk, man, I just wish this game gets the attention and love it deserves.
STW has some of the best writing and voice work I've ever heard, I wish they made a movie or episodic show that was just about homebase fighting the storm
Save the world story is absolutely breathtaking? 🙏 🙏 🙏 it is amazing story and everything about it is godly. The characters have best writing ever made 👍. No other game could ever beat save the world ever.
I was one of the original backers for the original Fortnite. I still can't put into words just how devastating it was to watch Battle Royale eclipse the game the way it did.
@@myname_2663 Dude you have no idea what you're talking about. The whole point of my comment was that BATTLE ROYALE eclipsed the real Fortnite. The game that that title actually belongs to. Not that Battle Royale got worse as it went on - although it probably did.
Yep, I was also a backer. I am still pissed off that they needed money to finish development for save the world, they ended up using the money to finish battle Royale. If they were going to pull that crap, they should have returned any money they received from backers who only supported save the world, but I know that I'll never get my $2k back 😡
@@gooberman2863 at the time they got what they paid for, the game had good support for a long time but definitely not as much once battle Royale was in full swing
I just started playing this game 125 days ago. Was instantly hooked, as confusing as it was for this 50 year old veteran. I play this game everyday amid all the glitch bugs and lags. I love this game and can only hope for a revive in the future. Thanks for telling this story line. It's really ashame they still want to charge you for a part of the game that they have no desire tk update, fix or add any major content too. Btw I subscribed
@@godlyOrojinthey won’t it makes no money for them, remember they’re a business not your friend to them we’re just a number, a number that is always $0
Save the world really reminded me of "Patapon 3" for the PSP. It had 4-player missions, loot collecting, load-out building, weapon upgrading, 30~ different classes with upgrade paths, rare items/icons to collect from events. but the game was basically at like 0-4 concurrent players while it was still alive.
I feel like the worst part is you can tell the people that do the writing still really care about it, because about every 8 or so months, we still do get the periodic mini questline that continues SOME form of narrative that they've had ongoing for a while now. But for me it's never enough and just serves as a false hope that I get to see more of these characters and the excellent writing that I've grown to love since 2018.
Fun fact, the developers at first has you placing the individual boards when you placed a wall. Took early players of the game to convince devs to speed it up to one click.
Save The World truly deserves better. i love the characters, the dialogue, the style. BR has become soulless, mostly relying on crossovers rather than original content, and i have never experienced anything as unique, charismatic, and humorous as STW in terms of gameplay and style. it's really special and it sucks that they left it hanging by a thread seemingly for good
This game has so much potential, even now it's still a fun game, getting the basics understood can really help you in the long run, Im no og, but I played when the game was somewhat alive and still sometimes play, with a decent overhaul and quality of life improvements before br came out it would of been a killer of a game
Bro i imagine from time to time what this game could've been if it wasn't abandoned Idfk just imagine some kind of moving buildings or something or saving ssd layouts and copy pasting them man good times
I didn't play Save the World until a few months ago. I'm surprised how this game has sonmuch content to offer still, I was under the impression it was way less finished as Battle Royale became the main event! I still remembered seeing the original Fortnite trailer and wondering what happened to it. I keep playing now, especially since you get so much Battle Pass XP, and there's always new weapons and heroes to try to mix things up, but its wild how overlooked this mode is when its attached to one of the most popular games in the world.
OH hey I remember watching your videos back in the day.. and yeah I agree :/ STW had alot of potential and it hurts to see epic just treat it like that
bro, just hearing those piano riffs loop in the background while thinking of how youre gonna beat your next ssd while trying to figure out what guns you need to upgrade and what heroes are the best- just the best times ive had across all of fortnite, br and stw. I signed up for the alpha back in 2014, and kinda forgot about it until 2017, and was confused when I heard from a lot of my friends that they wrere playing some battle royale with a name i recognized but couldnt remember what it was. Then I saw it. the building. I dont know if anyone else can remember this alpha showcase footage that I saw back then in 2014 but I havent been able to find the vid, I just remember it being a bunch of scenes, either someone building a cool looking fort while their friends defended them from zombies, or someone exploring the city, jumping from tires and boost pads, rooftop to rooftop. I vaguely remembered that footage when I saw the game, and was hooked. I played br, and when I saw my friend playing STW for the first time, thats when I re discovered it. I realized this was the game I remembered, and from that point all I wanted to do was play. I remember that year, 2018, for my birthday my friend got me an xbox gift card, and i spent it on the second tier of STW. I upgraded to the third, and then to the second highest tier later. That shit was addictive. Then all this happened, but watching this video made me so happy, just hearing the 15 seconds of the main menu them brought me back, almost to tears actually. Thank you.
Great video. It's quite sad coming back to STW since a while after stork king came out because of a lack of content and seeing how almost nothing has changed , the game had so much potential yet they just dropped it like it's nothing :/
Really loved the video man. I remember seeing that initial trailer and getting kinda hyped then forgetting about for a couple years. Shame development turned out this way, but great to see the community is still passionate about it!
I played BR originally in Seasoms 2-4, but Save the world caught my eye and I fell in love and played it for the next year of my life, only stopping because it ran so poorly on PS4 and I had found new enjoyment in BR. When I had heard they were ending save the world, I was heartbroken. This is one of very few games that has truly made me grind and enjoy it, and it will forever hold a special place in my heart. David Dean, Demonjoefrance, and Isherwood still the kings
I still plays it today but barely since 2018. Hurts my heart when I read the State of Development, I knew Epic really care for BR more. As a Ultimate founder pack player, that was a terrible decision from Epic to drop the main Fortnite players. Great video dude!
I never made it too far into STW, but it was clear even early on that it could get sluggish with the lack of diverse content. That being said, I loved playing STW with friends. It's just a shame seeing them in real time pull their resources to shove into the BR mode and focus solely on that, giving up completely on what they made the trailer for the game in the first place. Also hurts as a fan of FPS's to see them give up on Unreal Tournament, too, seeing that their latest game is stuck in a barely functioning alpha state because they saw how big BR was. Think of it - forsaking the namesake of their technology, the engine that powers their golden cow, for a fad that... unfortunately really worked well. They won the financial game, but did they have to sacrifice everything else just to do it? BTW, love the editing on this video. Had me rolling at points from the SFX. Also top tier music choices.
This video was hard to watch because it's very sad that a game with such high potential was thrown away. I am 100 percent sure that if the game had continued to receive updates, not necessarily like the Battle Royale mod, everyone who played the game and retired, would probably continue to play to this day. And besides that, The video is very well done, you accurately said everything that needs to be said about the game.
17:18 Hey, that's me! I sent that to the STW subreddit at some point because I was sick of seeing the autumn biome breaking itself for the dozenth time. You can just barely see the atlas peeking through the solid terrain. Also you can see my pretty cool outfit, hehe.
Safe to say that it was a big case of bad timing for STW. Released in mid 2017 and just a few months later was entirely overshadowed by the battle royale craze. Though Epic definitely did well when it came to reusing assets from STW for BR. I used to watch BR content a lot which I guess sort of conditioned me on how the ammo and weapon systems would function. Then I finally had time to pick up STW and was confused why the ARs were using small ammo instead of medium like BR lol
As a late alpha player, this game was truly amazing. Even though I did accidentally bring down by entire base one time it was still fun nonetheless. I am happy Fortnite got as big as it did, just wish Epic Games put more effort into this game because it had the potential to be so much more. Glad it has a community, just hard to get into the game now with how Epic Games treats it. Truly a special game (P.S Thank you Darren Sugg for giving me the opportunity to actually try the alpha version of Fortnite STW.)
I absolutely love this game. I was actually addicted to playing it for a while. Most games get boring to me really quick, but this was one of the ones that I kept playing. It’s really sad to see how the devs have just left the original for the br, but I guess it was inevitable.
From a business standpoint, they truly had no reason to continue this game. They’re the publishing moneymakers, and clearly not the passionate ones in the sense of supporting communities. Still, seeing things like this and how other games with strong player bases continue to fall, it’s truly devastating to see what becomes of them all. Another great example is Titanfall 2. Apex had the money, TF2 didn’t, despite a super strong player base. Amazing video. I still find myself coming back yo StW every once in awhile, unable to put it down, the pace and uniqueness rivaling BR with ease. Plus I always really liked Steel Wool Anthony ❤
They're not passionate? They don't support communities? Fortnite is one of the most cared for live service games that I can think of. They put so much work into it. From trailers to events, season after season of releasing updates, and trying to make the experience as smooth and bug-free as possible. It shows how much effort they put into their delivery instead of just shipping things out and saying fk it we'll fix it later like so many other live service games do. And the way they added Creative 2.0 and constantly updated graphics, the way they even treat each collaboration with so much respect. . I typed all that and I haven't even touched on how they constantly highlight creators, how they give them creator locker bundles or even in-game skins and references. Or the way they handle their FNCS scene and trying to do right by it. Or all the way they constantly find to engage with and involve their communities, beyond just giving them a reason to log on and drop in. Saying they're not passionate or they dont support their community is THE STUPIDEST thing I can imagine.
@@ElementalLeafthey like money. If you’ve been apart of the community for a while you know they don’t really care about us. Also why do you think the store is 14 pages long
@@ElementalLeaf They're passionate about money, if BR didn't become one of the most profitable games in all of gaming history they would've already abandoned it and moved onto the next thing like they did with STW... They care about providing a smooth experience cause nobody wants to spend money on a broken game, they update the graphics to try and make the game more appealing and attract more spenders, they treat collabs with respect cause they're epic's biggest sellers, they highlight creators and give them locker bundles because they're popular and they know a lot of players will buy them. Epic 100% is only in it for the money and to think any of the higherups care about anything else is absurd
Amazing video as some who has been playing STW for myabe 4+ years now its cool to hear its long but sad history. Hopefulone day we can really Save Save The World
I completely relate to the bugs section of the video. I remember I got stuck on the story mode mission where you needed to play a deliver the bomb mission. For months I couldn’t complete it because the game either wouldn’t allow me to place any tracks or the bomb wouldn’t move. It’s still my least favorite mission type to this day.
10/10 video i was entertained the whole way through, i wish epic did follow through with save the world i remember getting it in 2017 for my birthday and i was so hyped . atleast the community is somewhat keeping it alive.
The editing the speech, the everything is perfect. I thought you have more than 500 K subs keep it up man we need more videos. not every four months one Video PLS ❤
saddest part to me is how much love they used to put into the development back when they released content weekly, you could really tell the heart and attention to little details
I remember when this game mode was simply _"Fortnite"._ No fancy title. I watched it on the Achievement Hunter "Let's Play" channel, back then. When they played the Battle Royale mode some time after, I didn't even realize the two "games" were related. Battle Royale really did a number of "Save the World"…
I found out, that stw was in Online testing Alpha since 2015. But it didn't gain much traction. Epic hosted many online tests from 2015 until Juli 2017, where many players could join, by downloading the game from the epic launcher like today, but the launcher was really simple and boring. When completing a mission, you where able to give feedback everytime you got back to the lobby. There where already V-Bucks. This was really the start, where they made the game kinda public
this video is the perfect information of what STW could've actually been, me as a player in STW, I've been playing it since CH1 S5 and I really hope this video gets out there more so people can see the full potential of STW
weird i staarted playing around that time as well and got to twine after about 2 to 3 months of grinding and was the most fun i had around the time and now i go in and see an amazing game with almost nothing new and no more love from epic
Dev: "Check out these tower-building mechanics I made" Director: "Wow, crafting these grand beautiful bases would be right at home in a survival zombie game" CEO: "....I have a better idea."
I started playing this game way back in the beginning. I also had a friend that gave me a code for a free copy. I spent the next three years grinding out events, building my various stormshields, and getting griefed by afk'ers. It had so much potential, and to this day there still isn't anything like it. Despite the fact that I gave up playing almost two years ago, I would still log in every day just to maintain my streak. And then Epic took that away too. Over 2300 days logged in, thrown out like Epic threw out Save the World.
I got burnt out of StW because I basically did the closest thing to a marathon I could do to get the Storm King pin in time. I wasn't able to get back into the game after that, but I do still follow Fortnite a little bit, and looking at the state of StW, I am happy that earning the pin was the last time I really played StW. I feel like it ended it on a high note, before the game started breaking apart
Wait tf? What do you mean the hero rework happened after the storm king? Well, guess my mind misremembered then. I guess I stopped close to the chapter 2 stuff then? A bit after? Pretty sure I stopped playing before the early access "ended", but
I bought it like 3 weeks after BR came out but I had watched many UA-camrs vids prior to it's release including the "Before You Buy", I was playing BR so much and was having so much fun that any content would do and back then STW was Fortnite's lore (Season 0). That same day or a couple later I recommended it to all who played FN, it was fun (still is), it had an interesting story & characters, etc, etc aaand you got Vbucks, those who didn't buy it then did it on December 2017 after seeing how I bought the Battlepass & Skins on BR, since then through 2018 we were always talking about when or how STW would go FTP, in 2019 we joked about it at that point, it's tragic since Fortnite got so massive in 2018 if STW had gone FTP, ooh what could've been... now it's sold as bonus in a skin package for BR, Nice vid and props for the Beast shout-out
I bought the game back in early access and fell in love with the building aspect. I still go back every now and then to look at my home base. Made it look like a well built castle😌
@@EQOAnostalgia Because Fortnite: Save The World is the only good thing that the EpicGames made, the rest is just a pile of garbage. Sad reality is that BR gives them more money than StW.
sfv, skullgirls, and persona music 👀 i remember playing this game on the original xbox one, it was not fun to say the least... the performance issues and crashing were exponentially worse. stw could've been something great, but as you said, epic is a business; their priority is profit. solid vid bro
I remember seeing the trailer for Save The World in 2017 open world game trailer compilation around March of that year. I thought it looked so cool. The best part was that it would come out 2 days after my birthday so I could get it almost immediately if I wanted. Unfortunately I didn't end up getting it then as it sort of passed under my radar for a little while, but then a few months later BR came out. When I first saw the ad on my Xbox home screen, I thought it was DLC for people that already owned the game. Nope. Got home from school and downloaded it immediately because it was PUBG but FREE. Couldn't pass up on that. Around Halloween was when I finally got STW. Excellent decision (especially in retrospect because free Vbucks). Got repetitive and I never made it past Stonewood. Gradually I'd play a little bit for some Vbucks. Always made sure to at least log in for the daily reward (I'm at around 1500 days logged in). As of now I'm about halfway through Canny Valley and playing nearly every day, only using Vbucks and potential Vbucks as a motivator to keep going and see the end. Can't tell you how many times STW has come in clutch with the Vbuck missions. Almost single-handedly paid for the Leon + Claire bundle. Went from 400 to 1k, bought the battlepass, played more STW and grinded up to the cost of the bundle, bought it, then it finally disappeared from the shop at the next reset. I'm not trying to whittle STW's value down to free Vbucks, as there's still a load of content to be had. There have been plenty of times when I progress in a mission just to hear the dialogue between Ray and some other character and nearly choke on my drink laughing. I only wish there was more variation in the gameplay itself. That would have saved Save The World for me. I still laugh seeing STW with its consistent 20k players compared to Team Rumble with its 15k peak.
Thanks for making this video man, I used to play a crap ton of this game with my buddies back in chapter 1, I quit fortnite all around in chapter 2 and didnt stay up to date with what was going on with save the world, now that Fortnite OG brought me back Its both nice to hear about stw and sad to hear about its decline in support. It was sadly expected, but it was still an amazing mode. Great video bro!
I Really hope eventually Fortnite realizes how much the community loves this game mode and give the save the world team a lot more love it makes me sad watching Epic throwing away a game's legacy.
As many nostalgic and loving players of STW there still are, it will never, ever compare to the revenue and player count BR has maintained over the years.
I think it’s also shitty that they advertised it that it would release as specific times and kept delaying public free release, and eventually just abandoned the project completely. WHILE STILL SELLING IT FOR THE SAME EXACT PRICE, while they also fully removed vbuck farming and free rewards. Honestly makes no sense and I will always hold a grudge against epic for what they did to this game, it had so much potential and they just left it in the mud to rot, Kinda disgusting honestly.
I really liked STW at the time, then I did enjoy the pvp alongside it when it came out. It's a bit sad that the battle royale part gets so much funding and cool items/mechanics/map improvements and they aren't willing to let even 10% of that budget trickle into PVE
I think that the thing that manages to both sadden and surprise me the most about save the world are the concurrent players counter. Since now stw is basically treated by epic like a random creative map in the select modes menu, you can see the amount of players playing it.The mode has around 18k concurrent players normally, and that is heartbreaking, because there are some creative maps like the pit who get like 30k concurrent players normally. But at the same time, its nice to know that the mode is not completely dead, and there are still people who play it regularly (even tho a good majority of them are probably scammers)
Just stay away from Stonewood and the SSDs where people look like they want to trade. Instant leave from me, not worth trying to finish the mission with people like them. We don’t know how many of those people are only playing because they get battle pass xp and vbucks from it. There truly aren’t much players who care about the game if those two were taken out. The game is still really fun and relaxing, but nowhere near as magical as it once was…
I wish they jus sold save the world to a company that will actually work on it cuz i miss this game but there’s jus nothing to do anymore without updates
I remember my dad buying me the founders edition as soon as the game came out because I was so hyped about it. Back in middle school me and my friend would talk about our accomplishments we made in the game and would help each other defend our own bases. Then the battle royale mode came and at first I thought it was really cool and fun but then I noticed that less and less attention was being given to the main game. Now I'm in college and it's sad to see what such a great story game concept has become.
Even after I got bored of Fortnite and stopped playing, I was always interested in the save the world mode, always was looking forward to the price going down to like $5 or free but it never happened. Shame because it looks fun.
Save the world is almost a window into the OG battle royale and it still looks and feels simular to what i found when fortnite was actually fun and relevant in season 5-7 before they compleatly changed the map, and later the whole game itself.
😢I just started playing this mode… and fell in love with it. Devastating to hear this news. If only I could discover this game few years earlier. Low level zone I’m basically solo every mission , can’t get a single person in lobby sometimes . Also this game remind me of red dead redemption, being abandoned and left to rot. I liked that game too.
i love this game so much, but having nobody to play with kinda just, doesnt make me want to play i like to imagine that there is a timeline where STW was more popular than BR
I miss Save The World. I started playing back when BR first came out (played STW first) and man it has the funniest, most well written and genuinely interesting storyline that I have ever played through. Even revisiting the recycled content is a blast just because of the dialogue. Missions didn’t get stale because of the dialogue before, during, and after missions. Seeing the game go dark was heartbreaking mainly because it didn’t feel like the game really ended. The skins/hero packs they hand out now at first were a must have for me in particular, but I’ve stopped buying them because I know they aren’t going to be used on STW. I can hope they’ll bring it back one day, but it isn’t likely. Rip: Karolina and Joel
I can’t blame epic for canceling save the world. Save the world was originally the main mode of Fortnite with the battle Royale being side content. However, epic managed to create and sustain a battle royale that very quickly overshadowed the save the world. In my personal estimate, I would say that for every 100 players playing the battle Royale, there was 1 playing save the world. With the battle Royale having so many players and generating so much wealth, I definitely understand why epic would cancel save the world. Move programmers from save the world to give more to the more profitable battle Royale.
There's still no excuse to not make stw free as they removed the ability to earn v bucks in daily challenges for non founders + they just removed the daily logins recently.
Ramirez: I'm fighting to save my family in twine peaks Ray: Hey Ramirez we just beat the storm king and have cleared a path to twine peaks Ramirez: Oh that's nice, but I think the story is pretty much complete now my family is probably fine
I remember fortnite save the world. I started playing the save the world mode around April 2020, and I spent a few months getting the Carbide Character. Then I spent about 6 months on and off trying to get all of his edit styles maxed out - I managed to do it, but then it didn't really feel like there was much to do after that. I don't know man - it just feels like it was abandoned for a while before it was officially at end of development I started playing Fortnite around November 2018, and I haven't stopped playing since. I think that they saw potential in Battle Royale and Creative modes, and then decided that they could probably put more work and effort into them, if they stopped focusing on Fortnite Save The World. Anyway - great video and I enjoyed it :) i am now subscribed before you hit 100k subs
It's sad how Save the World fell from grace. Battle Royale was added because so many people (around a million) bought save the world. Many of the original players still play it to this day, unlike Battle Royale. Both games rose in popularity, but stw got easily overshadowed by br. As battle royale kept rising in popularity, save the world stopped receiving as much updates and content, eventually before epic left it all together in Ch2 S3. They had originally planned to make STW free, but they changed their mind out of laziness, ignoring what made them popular in the first place. So, they left their game, buggy and unfinished, and tried to convince all the people that they wanted to keep it a special experience, but it was nothing but a lie. SaveSaveTheWorld trended on Twitter for several days, but they ignored it because it wasn't their cash cow. They added in cheaply made packs to convince people that they still cared, even adding it to debatablely one of their worst crew packs, which they most likely knew would fail, so they could use the excuse nobody cared anymore.
man this was a great video. you’re clearly passionate, it’s all very well put together and the comedy was on point. man I wish save the world made money
Months after this video released, it is still a bit above life support: in Dec we got an entire new biome (Frosty Fjord). Which, yeah, was released in a very buggy state (and still has a lot of problems with invisible walls and no-build areas, though some things have been fixed), and, yeah, has a lot of reused assets (snow buildings from C4, Meowscle's boat from C2 though the areas are completely redone). But it also has new things, like this giant submarine I've never seen in BR before. Anyway, this video came up in my recommendations and I watched it as I only started playing StW after BR got big (started C1S8, IIRC) so I was looking for more history. The additional context was informative, but the memes and sound effects _really_ killed any enjoyment I could get from this. Not that jokes are bad, but they were used far too frequently in the video and never really blended well with the documentary stuff. Still, I think there's lots of promise here.
As someone who recently got into stw since 2019, you have no idea how invested I was into the story and when I finally completed my Canny quests, I was so heartbroken and disappointed
Honestly while it would suck for founders if they took the founders pack buff and just made it a part of PVE for everyone they could probably make way more money off of people buying and playing PVE. Its already brokenly good for getting battle pass XP (especially for those of us who only play BR when their friends feel like it) and if at the very least the XP was buffed to founders levels for everyone more people might wanna get it, add the paid currency and way more people would buy and play it. Its already way more fun than I was expecting it to be, cause I only got it with "good BP XP" in mind, but they have potential to make more money off of PVE if they handled it right and they just refuse to do so. Imagine if, for example, any character you got in PVE you'd unlock that skin for BR. It would flush money from sales of those skins from the store down the toilet but more people would pay for the PVE mode, or maybe they could make it some character specific challenge, so that way its not too easy to get the skins for free. As long as they don't give it its own battle pass with scummy fomo to worry about its all good.
I got stw in a pack in chapter two and I personally loved it so much I really enjoyed the characters and sinked so many hours into it. Sucks it went this way. Wish I joined the community when it was more popular. I like the Val and persona music btw :)great vid❤
What I wonder is why it’s paid. It’s like they don’t want people to play it. If they want to make a metaverse then save the world could be one of the games they add to the list of experiences available, rather than forget it. At least it’s not ruined by greed I guess.
it has the potential. just needs some sort of exciting mission switch up. because the timed mission is very boring you just want to afk every mission. @@jackweber3660
I got stw in late 2018, I fell in love with it. I was excited for what was to come, trying to collect the best heroes and weapons, I made it to Canney Valley, and it just got boring. No updates, no new content, nothing. I then ditched stw for br entirely and never went back. Occasionally I revisited the game, until I accidentally deletes my own account, trying to disconnect it from my XBox to my PS4 and that was the final straw that made me quit br and stw completely. It’s really sad to see the state of stw, it had so much potential, could’ve been so great
I have over 1000 days completed on this game, started back in 2018. Good times, good video, good memories.

when i think of catholicism or christianity i also think of all the religious exemption laws, ESPECIALLY the medical exemption laws where hundreds of children have died and suffered because their parents were "christian scientists" that "didnt believe in medicine and physical ailments" and how they can just "pray the sick away" .... i know that because i literally GREW UP IN IT !!! my mom wouldnt even let me fucking have cough medicine growing up, and i was raised in johanessburg... i couldve died as a child because of this, and it wouldve been the least unholy thing to make a child sick and die. like the millions "god does make sick and die" by the millions every day, but dont worry he just has a reason we just dont get lol.
when i think of catholicism or christianity i think of the staggering numbers of clergy abuse, its to the point to where church molestation insurance is a thing .... the same ppl calling gay ppl groomers just for telling ppl its ok to be gay and nothing else, just because of verses like leviticus 18:22 .... WHICH PPL SAY IS A LAW ONLY PRIESTS FOLLOW BUT STILL DO (it might genuinely be a mistranslation from ancient hebrew too thats the even more sad part) ..
when i think of catholicism or christianity i remember how theres literally practices like "modern revelation" where u have an old guy telling ppl he can literally talk to jesus and makes changes to scripture based on that, like they just kinda pop out their jesus flip phone and dial em up or smth no idea haha
there is hundreds like me that will never follow gods word again, and the sad part is ive met many like me that have stopped being religious purely just because of how much we were fucking suffering. u couldnt tell most of us that any god was listening to us

It definitely wouldn’t have been able to beat destiny 2 but it still would’ve been great.

Idk, man, I just wish this game gets the attention and love it deserves.

weapon upgrading,
30~ different classes with upgrade paths,
rare items/icons to collect from events.
but the game was basically at like 0-4 concurrent players while it was still alive.

That's just recycled content, those questlines appears every year. Unfortunately there is nothing new
Its crazy how they can make a whole guitar hero, racing and survival mode but cant fix the mode FORTNITE WAS MADE FOR
Fun fact, the developers at first has you placing the individual boards when you placed a wall.
Bro i imagine from time to time what this game could've been if it wasn't abandoned

bro, just hearing those piano riffs loop in the background while thinking of how youre gonna beat your next ssd while trying to figure out what guns you need to upgrade and what heroes are the best- just the best times ive had across all of fortnite, br and stw.
I feel like the backbone of stw is the really fucking compelling story, voice acting included, and the upgrade/progression system
Really loved the video man. I remember seeing that initial trailer and getting kinda hyped then forgetting about for a couple years. Shame development turned out this way, but great to see the community is still passionate about it!
Glad you enjoyed it bro! Yeah save the world was done dirty but i don't regret a second of the time i spent playing haha
It wasn’t a terrible decision to drop STW. They make all their money from BR
Cause they started listen to what the children wanted and now we have the shithole we all know and love called “battle royale”

Glorious timing, sir spoot just made a community post being sad bout Overwatch 2s pve mode.

I absolutely love this game. I was actually addicted to playing it for a while. Most games get boring to me really quick, but this was one of the ones that I kept playing. It’s really sad to see how the devs have just left the original for the br, but I guess it was inevitable.
Its so simple grinding game and yet amazing like no other. Shame they stoped new content support. Really love it.

Honestly I was pretty surprised to learn that too, but yeah after watching a video i recorded on the storm king i saw the old hero loadouts
Thank you for covering this! I never seen anybody do such an in-depth video on this!
I look forward to watching more of your content!
No worries glad you enjoyed!
At least we don’t have to worry bout collaborations ruining our storyline
How do u enjoy stw it’s so boring
I bought it like 3 weeks after BR came out but I had watched many UA-camrs vids prior to it's release including the "Before You Buy", I was playing BR so much and was having so much fun that any content would do and back then STW was Fortnite's lore (Season 0). That same day or a couple later I recommended it to all who played FN, it was fun (still is), it had an interesting story & characters, etc, etc aaand you got Vbucks, those who didn't buy it then did it on December 2017 after seeing how I bought the Battlepass & Skins on BR, since then through 2018 we were always talking about when or how STW would go FTP, in 2019 we joked about it at that point, it's tragic since Fortnite got so massive in 2018 if STW had gone FTP, ooh what could've been... now it's sold as bonus in a skin package for BR,
Nice vid and props for the Beast shout-out
I bought the game back in early access and fell in love with the building aspect. I still go back every now and then to look at my home base. Made it look like a well built castle😌
ion gon lie you’re so underrated bro, the quality of your videos show how much effort you put into them, def gonna subscribe.
Shout out to the 13.6 to 15k people who regularly play save the world!
Cool yall are still there. Wife and i said "Fk this company never again" and never went back lol.
@@EQOAnostalgia Because Fortnite: Save The World is the only good thing that the EpicGames made, the rest is just a pile of garbage. Sad reality is that BR gives them more money than StW.
sfv, skullgirls, and persona music 👀
i remember playing this game on the original xbox one, it was not fun to say the least... the performance issues and crashing were exponentially worse. stw could've been something great, but as you said, epic is a business; their priority is profit. solid vid bro
I Really hope eventually Fortnite realizes how much the community loves this game mode and give the save the world team a lot more love
it makes me sad watching Epic throwing away a game's legacy.
As many nostalgic and loving players of STW there still are, it will never, ever compare to the revenue and player count BR has maintained over the years.
Save the world is the building blocks of BR, they can never take that away, also they gave us Penny
Bro I've never seen such well made videos from such small content creators. Kudos to you!
The game is still really fun and relaxing, but nowhere near as magical as it once was…
the gamemode peaked at 30-50K recently iirc
this video quality is so good for the amount of subs you have, it's criminal that you're this underrated
I wish they jus sold save the world to a company that will actually work on it cuz i miss this game but there’s jus nothing to do anymore without updates
It has so much potential, but Epic is money hungry over BR and its microtransactions.
Nah get the fuck out of here
"there is this game I would enjoy playing but anything over 5$ is too expensive"
It’s 10 bucks tho
Almost half the downfall can be summed up with the Mr. Krab’s quote: “Hello! I like money.”
The fight against corporate greed is not over yet. #SaveSaveTheWorld
Send your epic tag here, someone will connect and help you 🥰
maybe we could play if u want
19:05 "I've never seen a company squash a community's trust this hard." Here's a new example: Overwatch 2.
apex release...
Its so unique and special, i bet if it was made by anyone else it wouldn't have gotten canceled
dayum that music at the end brought back so many memories especially since i dont play stw anymore
i love this game so much, but having nobody to play with kinda just, doesnt make me want to play
i like to imagine that there is a timeline where STW was more popular than BR
I still have don't understand why almost every person in the world hid their bacon specifically in their toilets.
save the world getting the destiny 2 and overwatch 2 treatment
Ramirez: I'm fighting to save my family in twine peaks
Ray: Hey Ramirez we just beat the storm king and have cleared a path to twine peaks
Ramirez: Oh that's nice, but I think the story is pretty much complete now my family is probably fine
In Epic's defense, this is just a semi-multiplayer campaign mode at the end of the day. I do wish they finished Twine though.
bruh This Was supose to be Fortnite, the Br was a sideMode but by luck of the genre it became This huge thing...

I remember fortnite save the world. I started playing the save the world mode around April 2020, and I spent a few months getting the Carbide Character. Then I spent about 6 months on and off trying to get all of his edit styles maxed out - I managed to do it, but then it didn't really feel like there was much to do after that. I don't know man - it just feels like it was abandoned for a while before it was officially at end of development
I started playing Fortnite around November 2018, and I haven't stopped playing since. I think that they saw potential in Battle Royale and Creative modes, and then decided that they could probably put more work and effort into them, if they stopped focusing on Fortnite Save The World.
Anyway - great video and I enjoyed it :) i am now subscribed before you hit 100k subs
Save The World is very much alive.
Update: they removed homebase names :)
man this was a great video. you’re clearly passionate, it’s all very well put together and the comedy was on point. man I wish save the world made money
As someone who recently got into stw since 2019, you have no idea how invested I was into the story and when I finally completed my Canny quests, I was so heartbroken and disappointed
really sad tbh, good game wish the dev team was better
If they make it free, they will attract new players.
They won’t they confirmed they have no intention of making it free
@soapgaming4903 even though there's no justification to keep it behind a paywall as they removed the free V bucks for non founders
At least it’s not ruined by greed I guess.
used to be paid because you could earn vbucks from mission and daily rewards but now idk why
I came looking for the save the world cutscenes and have now found a funny edit UA-camr…. Subscribed :)
They need to revive this masterpiece.
masterpiece is a stretch
it has the potential. just needs some sort of exciting mission switch up. because the timed mission is very boring you just want to afk every mission. @@jackweber3660
@@jackweber3660 It has potential to be a masterpiece, but sadly it doesn't give them that much money compared to BR.
@@Waaaltz_ i will admit that save the world has been better than battle royale for the past ~10 seasons even without being updated since 2018
I got stw in late 2018, I fell in love with it. It’s really sad to see the state of stw, it had so much potential, could’ve been so great
Unreal engine 3 is so much better for fortnite in my opinion everything looked so much better back then
this editing is so good lmfao, nice video man
