Before this race I was just a casual racing fan but this was the race that got me hooked to horse racing. Racing’s 2 superpowers going at it with 2 great champions. Greatest race I’ve ever seen.

Turned out Galileo is probably the best Stallion of all time, example being his son Frankel, argueably the best horse of all time. Also retired and is now at stud.
Sensational race! Brilliant the way Fantastic Light went inside & Galileo went outside the pacemaker. Both horses went all out & wouldn't give an inch. Almost as good as Grundy/ Bustino (Almost!)

ALEEM CH: I don't think it made any difference, but Galileo's jockey (Mick Kinane) didn't help matters by switching his whip from his left hand to his right.
The announcer is David Raphael. He used to call Hong Kong racing (English), and I've always felt he was one of the great race callers. He isn't calling races anymore, I don't think.

個人的に1.2を争う、好きなレースの1つ。ガリレオとファンタスティックライトの争いが最高にかっこいい。2頭の前走を背景に考えるとよりかっこいい。

そしてこのガリレオとの名勝負。
本当に好きな馬です。
ジャパンカップにもこの時のように欧米の一流馬がきてくれると盛り上がるんですけどね。

You can see how Galileo kept going and FL pulled up quicker that Galileo had more in the tank. Well done to both but Galileo is a true beast.

Fantastic light was a monster
he was so fast over a very short distance.. in the KG he had too much weight and G got first run... and FL had used all his pace to get to Galileo

Galileo definately got a few slaps across the nose by the fantastic lights jockey late on
