Brilliant winner, best turn of foot I ever saw... Dancing Brave's Arc might have been a better spectacle... but as much as I hate the idea, I have a feeling this fella might have won that Arc as well !!
Yes, every chance! With a clear run, he may not have been for catching. Having said that, with respect to The Brave, he was rated 3lb higher than Peintre Celebre, and those in behind such as Bering are considered as good or better than him. So it's all opinions but visually speaking, he's easily up with the best ever Arc winners :)
Dancing brave took awhile to get into gear at the end of his races, Seabird and Peintre Celebre, it was push button acceleration, and they could sit nearer the front too. I Think they both would have beaten Dancing brave. He was a great Horse too tho of course. 😊😊
I would invite people to watch Danedream's win in this year's Arc and tell me if it reminds them of this race. In both races, the winner's acceleration at the end is impressive. BTW, both winners set track records in the process.
Surely, considering this was ran on Turf, and was run without the traditional "run-off" in US racing, and the timing system is much more accurate than in 1973.. This performance by Pientre Celebre, ran about 3 lengths slower than Secretariats official time of 2:24, well and truly rivals that Belmont performance which many people consider the greatest performance of all time by the greatest horse of all time? But no one talks about Peintre Celebre! What the f*ck is going on here...
+Lee SOG Well said: it was an awesome performance and made sweeter that I was on him at 11/2 :) I had the straight forecast, too. Great horse, underrated.
this horse was similar to sea bird. Both had incredible excelaration. Pent celebre was a hard ride here, but once he responded it was breathtaking . That second kick was unbelievable. Better than dancing brave imo
It's gotta be up there. There people who won't hear that any could rival the turn of foot shown by Dancing Brave in the Arc of 86, but this by Peintre Celebre showed something else; a double turn of foot. Would Dancing Brave have caught him? Criquette Head, the trainer of Bering swears to this day that he would have beat Dancing Brave had his legs not went in the closing stages. Bering was rated 136, Peintre Celebre 137. Maybe both where underrated? I agree that Peintre Celebre had something similar to Sea Bird, but where Dancing Brave may not have caught him in time, I think Peintre Celebre wouldnt have caught Sea Bird. Same for Ribot as well. So I guess that's why Peintre Celebre is known as one of the top greatest ever Arc winners. As good as or better than Sea The Stars on the day. Probably as good as Treve considering her allowance. And better than Montjeu on fast ground. He's certainly in my top 5. A breathtaking beast he was :)
@@leesog3203 peter o Sullivan had Ribot ahead of Sea Bird, but it's difficult to judge. But both SeaBird and Pent celebre just shot away like a bullet, I dont think Dancing Brave would have beaten Them
This was a high quality field, and Peintre Celebre is the second-best Arc winner of the past 50 years. Only Dancing Brave's 1986 Arc is better, since the days of Sea-Bird II and Ribot. Sea the Stars was a fantastic horse with unmatched consistency over 10-12 furlongs, but with all three horses at their best, he would have been beaten in the Arc by Peintre and the Brave.
I'd take Dancing Brave to get home from Peintre Celebre, with Sea The Stars behind the two. STS just didn't face the same class of opposition the other two did.

A fantastic race spoiled by terrible calling. Sullivan named maybe 6-7 horses at best and if a horse wasn't running in the first 6 then you wouldn't know their position. The Australian horse, Nothin' Leica Dane was called just once, upon exiting the barriers. Absolutely shocking calling
I have a feeling Ace Impact will do something similar to what Peintre Celebre did in the last couple of furlongs of the 97 Arc and put five lengths on the field in this years renewal.😉
@@thefalsenine6438 Thanks very much for your message. Ace Impact what a 🐎! An absolute weapon and one of the best horses I've seen in my time as an avid racing fan.
Andre Fabre states that Pour Moi is superior to this champion. That is enough for me. Just a shame that he will not be seen until the Prix Niel. He will win the Arc like Dancing Brave!
THe greatest horse ever !!! far far far far far better than Sea The Stars. Look at this double acceleration and how he flies when Olivier Peslier asks him to go.
Best Arc winner I've seen, very underrated! I was on at 11/2 and had the straight forecast :)
What a joy to hear Sir Peter again!
Best Arc winner in my lifetime.

Sorry to disagree. Ever heard of a horse named Dancing Brave? 🤔

he was the greatest..the turn of foot was in a world of its own
Basardes that 2nd kick was mind blowing 😊
i know Peintre Celebre was the greatest
AGREED mate ! Horse was a steam train ! And the horse he beat into second pilsudski was in my view underrated!
Wonderful video !!!!! it's HUGE !!!!!! Thousands thanks for this !!!!!!
Even better turn of foot than the Brave. My jaw hit the floor.
That was mesmerising he was trapped on the rail all the way round lost 5 or 6 places but still trounced them 6 lengths a true great!
1997 winner Pentire Celebre actually won the Prix Du Jockey Club in the days when that was run over 1m 4f/2400 metres
One of the GOAT Arc winners...
Best Arc field since Sea Bird II. Awesome horse.
Dancing Brave v Peintre Celebre - What a race that would be.
Peintre Celebre, brilliant arc winner
Pentre celebre,Treve,Dancing brave and Enable.My top 4.

Really strong field. But not as strong as the field Dancing Brave cut down, best Arc field ever.
