How’s Canada’s best airline on an transcontinental flight? | Vancouver - Toronto | April 2023

- The last year has been very interesting for Canadian aviation. New ULCCs such as Lynx and Canada Jetlines have launched cross-country flights to compete with Air Canada and WestJet, while Swoop and Flair continue to grow from strength to strength. Also, WestJet has seemingly “retreated” back to its home territory in Western Canada. But there’s also an airline that has build its reputation east, and is spreading its wings westward in a bid to fill the gap.
Porter has emerged as a new option for flyers to travel from West to East, but on new Embraer E195 jets. Welcome back to the “elevated economy” of Canada’s most unique. airline, but this time, on longer routes. Let’s check out what they offer, and whether they’re really good value for the dollars you have. Can they win in a transcontinental battle with the big boys and the pretenders? This and more, in my video!

Great video! Really appreciate you leaving the unedited takeoff and landing footage, both so beautiful thank you!
Thank you, glad you liked it!
A nice flight report, my friend, thanks for sharing!
Thanks a lot!
Porter is going to kick AC and Westjet flying out west. The free snacks and drinks are big perk and more room, no middle seat and great prices. Especially compared to AC’s business class.
AC is full on nearly all of its flights pulling 85% on average Load Factors. I dont believe anyone at HQ is worried
@@johnwellington5754 says the loser with an American flag. Thinking they know how it works in western Canada
Not to mention free hi speed WiFi!
I think the Air Transat is a321-200 not a NEO a NEO has a PW or a CFM International's LEAP where as this engine is a CFM56
Oh yes that’s true I can get a little confused sometimes with these jets
@@dexplorer_vids it’s totally fine even I make mistakes lol
fYI Transat doesnt do domestic flights anymore. In fact they dont fly West of Toronto. Porter is code share with TS and does all their old domestics. In all honestly Porter is a much higher quality product anyways in every way! - so good for them!
Please consider adjusting the length of time for the text. I had to play back the video at half speed to just finish reading the text. It took away from the experience.
Thanks for the feedback!
Great flight report. Very informative and comprehensive. Video quality was good.
Quick question- your assigned seat was 7B yet you were by the window. Did you switch seats, or is their seat name/layout different?
At the beginning the girl was wearing a large backpack. Was that considered a carry on or a personal item? Did they measure or weigh it? Cheers.
Yes that's a carry on
FYI...Porter has just announced that they will be adding nonstop service between YUL and YVR, YYC and YEG sometime in Spring 2024!
Yep that's amazing they are really growing so fast!
They will start these routs even before that because im doing YVR to YUL at the 6th of July 2024.
Well...Spring ends June 21st...so July would be AFTER that! 😆
I think you have misused the word "Intercontinental"
What is the free luggage allowance?
Hey! Sadly no free luggage allowance, you'll have to purchase that as an add-on.
Here are the specs from Porter's website.
Personal item, max size 43 x 16 x 33 cm (17 x 6 x 13 in); carry-on, max size 55 x 23 x 40 cm (21.5 x 9 x 15.5 in).
As long as you purchase any tier of ticket EXCEPT Basic, you'll be allowed one carry on + personal item. Basic only allows one personal item.
They still include ash trays because if some idiot does decide to light up it's much safer to put it out in an ash tray than to start a fire in the lavatory garbage bin.
Oh thanks for sharing! I didn't know that :)
