    Hey, just looking through all your UA-cam videos! 😂👍🏼 I have just one more question, do you always mix the warpaints with water when highlighting? Or do you end up drawing the lines without water?
    I think that was my mistake, I never diluted the color for highlighting and then always had visible layers..
    thank you very much!

    • @SwordsandBrushes
      @SwordsandBrushes  Рік тому

      Thank you very much, hope that you are getting some use out of them :)
      Good question! Yes i use clean water pretty much all the time for thinning the paints down, i find that it works well enough for what i want the end result to be.
      A little trick would be to have the paint thin enough that it goes into the bristles near the top of the brush.
      If you find any paint sitting outside (or on top of the bristles) then the paint may be ever so slightly too thick and you may end up with the visible layers as the paint will end up not being 100% smooth :) :)

      Whoop welcome to miniature painting! hope you are enjoying it so far? :):)
      A very good question! I think i should make that into a mini video for some clarity for newcomers :) I use a small pin vice drill to create a small hole (don't go all the way through the model/component) so its just enough to allow a paperclip to go into it.
      Then it is superglued on, and I use a cork to handle it whilst painting.

      For removing it, it comes off the paper clip easily enough with a bit of force applied. And then i use a hobby knife to take off any glue which may be left over. Then it's simply glued into place on the model.
      its better to drill the holes on the areas which will not be seen once the miniature has been completely assembled after painting.
      You don't always need to do this, but now and again it helps :)

    Is there any reason you use army painter paints? Every other tutorial uses citadel paints and all I’ve heard is people hate on army painter paints.
    I’ve used both and honestly I’m impartial to either but maybe that’s because I’m new to the hobby

    • @SwordsandBrushes
      @SwordsandBrushes  Рік тому

      Good question!
      And welcome to this fine hobby! :)
      I have used both - Citadel for about 15 years and Army painter for about 3, I find that the actual paint from both companies is perfect for what i need them to do for my hobby.
      For me personally the reason why I go for Army painter is that they are less expensive but you get 1/3 more in a pot (which is great because I paint A LOT! haha)
      They have a great colour match to their coloured spray cans so this is a nice time saver straight away, and because they are a paint company- i think they put all of their efforts into creating products that help painters of all varieties - which i find very useful too, especially the range of colours!
      They also produce some nice sets, including starter sets for new comers to the hobby - but it's nice when they release a new products such as a skin tones paint range - you can buy it in a set and it comes in a nice ox, with a brush a useful guide on how to use them - and just the general presentation of them is a nice gift too :)
      Oh and also, they use dropper bottles instead of an old 90''s "lid" paint pot style, so if you accidentally knock over your wash paint pot - its not going to cover your beautiful painting desk haha
      Hope that helps a bit :):)
