Best looking Dol Amroth I've ever seen. I wish I was as talented as you. I'm starting out again after a 17 year break so still rubbish. Shades and speedpaints weren't a thing back when I started!
Ah thank you for the kind words, i just love to paint miniatures - i find it very therapeutic :)
Wow that is a long break! What project(s) do you have on the paint table? oh yes - there is SOOOOOOOO many different types of paints/companies tools and materials - it's quite a hobby jungle out there now! haha
Well you are more than welcome on this channel at any time, i try to do the videos so there is a bit for everyone in terms of getting some battle ready miniatures done - to some more in depth painting ideas/experiments.
At the end of the day - i just want people to have some cool looking miniatures that they are proud of, but more importantly have fun doing so :):)
@@SwordsandBrushes I agree, very Therapeutic! Have dug out my old Rohan and Isengard models from the loft so currently working on Warriors of Rohan. Next will be tackling the Uruk Battering ram I found.
I got a batch of citadel paints but tempted to get some speedpaints. Read they can be challenging for beginners so getting some practice in first before taking the plunge.
I will be watching all your upcoming videos for inspiration so thank you for the quality content!
As always absolutely fantastic and amazing uses of the AP speedpaints
Glad you like the video! Yes they have now become my favourite paints to use! :):)
Amazing, I really love the blue tinting on the armor
Thank you! it was just one of those experiments where i had a play and now i can think of a few more ideas for them.
Something fantasy and Slaaneshi would be cool!
been waiting for this one stunning armor colour.
I wish i could do more videos at a faster rate - it just takes ages! lol but im happy that i can post when i can and people are happy to watch :):)
Stunning work mate!
Thank you! Cheers! Ive got some cool ideas for my swan knights which i will get to at some point! :):)
Damn, that is hotness. You make the blending and minute detail part sound so easy. Makes me think my clumsy fingers can do it lll
Thank you kindly! Well i just like to paint minis and share my process - and if it helps anyone out there then it's all worth it :):)
Awww man chestnut ink was the bomb! Look fantastic as always. I got a plan for some blue armour on a future elf army cheers for the tips.
You're an old head if you remember Chestnut ink.
@@briarsandbantams I still have a green ink in my collection :๐
@J Macc's Armies of Middle Earth You're ancient, my friend. My first set of inks was the original Citadel inks in little squeeze dropper bottles. Long gone.
@@briarsandbantams oh wow they are probably worth a pretty penny these days if you have any left
@J Macc's Armies of Middle Earth Nah. Several decades gone.
Love this one bro! When will you do the rest of the FOTR miniโs?
Yes it's been a while for them, i should really finish off the set.
Ive got a rohan one i want to do next and then i will make sure i cover a Fellowship miniature :)
@@SwordsandBrushes great stuff, looking forward to it!
Great tutorial as always man! Keep up the good work!
Im picking up this hobby again after 10 years, starting with the Minas Tirith warriors and using your tutorial.
Any plans for painting some Iron Hills dwarves?
Thank you kindly and also welcome back after a long time out! :) I hope that you thoroughly enjoy creating your Minas Tirith force and they come out looking great! :)
Iron Hills you say....
I think that can be arranged - says i ! :):)
@@SwordsandBrushes Thanks man! Especially your tips for the captain upgrade and the wood effects are very helpful!
I'm very curious about how you'll paint the Iron Hills dwarves. I'm planning on creating a dwarf army in the near future myself. :)
Amazing work as always. Any tips or potential video on gemstone painting? Always looking to improve, and would love to see your approach. I've been thinking about how to paint a diamond effect, but results turn out more like pearl!
Thank you kindly! And yes good idea for a short video on gemstones - ive done a fair few in my time whilst painting Warhammer and Elves! haha - i love using a watered down black for the shaded part of the stone and especially going around the edge of it - it will frame the stone nicely depening how it is housed on armour/trinkets etc.
But i will find a mini for it and add it to the list! What colour would you like to see? :)
@@SwordsandBrushes Sounds great! I have a pretty solid foundation for blues, greens, and reds, but always happy to see more on those. Thinking a yellow or a grey/white gem?
Honestly your painting skills are amazing. Your videos are interesting and easy to follow. Please, please, pleaaaaaasssse can you do a video on halls of thranduil mirkwood elves??
Thank you kindly for the nice words, i just try to do what i can and help spread the hobby love :)
I can certainly add it to the list - i dont have any Mirkwood elves at the moment - except Legolas and Tauriel.
Beautiful, will probably use this for my Dol Amroth force. Would you recommend doing something similar for the men at arms with the armour colour and chainmail?
ah totally, the men at arms i did exactly the same. I had though the post this week some Axemen of Lossarnach and Clansmen of Lamedon - so looking forward to adding those to the army! :)
Vallejo Model Air metallics are amazing.
I love using them as just normal paints with a brush - to be fair i use all the range with a brush if i want a specific colour on something
@Swords and Brushes I do too, but I often forget I have them and end up using the regular line.
Beautiful paint job! I have a question about the army painter paints. I've found that mine separate very easily and give poor coverage no matter how much I shake them and remove the gel at the top. Did you find yours to be the same and if so how did you fix them?
Thanks very much, and i appreciate the question as well.
When opening a brand new pot- it's best to squirt out the top layer and disregard it - then give it a good shake afterwards. I think it's on their little pamphlet that they supply with the paint sets.
I do know that the oranges and yellows are not the best - but then again i've tried a number of brands and still cant find a good orange and yellow!
When do we get the basing tutorial from the Treebeard video? ๐
Now that i have my stuff back at home (house sale didnt go through and everything was packed in boxes) i will be doing that very soon - this week will be either Grima or Saruman then its the basing tutorial after that :):)
Painting them seems easier than getting the models.
Are the Forgeworld minis not available for you?
@@SwordsandBrushes I can only get the Knights of Dol Amroth, the Men-at-arms aren't anywhere though.
