That covering does look good! For what it's worth, here's how I'd attach it: I would start with the outer surface of the fabric against the metal, with the edge against the front/top corner and the fabric extending back across the "desk". Then I'd put a strip of thick cardstock on top of it, about an inch wide, and run the rivets through the cardstock and fabric into the metal in basically the places you have them now. Then you can take the loose fabric and fold it up and towards you so it wraps around and over the top of the cardstock and then down the front, covering the rivets. (I might actually spray-glue some thin foam padding on top of the cardstock and wrap it down over the front, first.
Hopefully that makes sense? If it doesn't, let me know and I'll see if I can draw you a picture.

That is a really good idea. Thank you. I’ve got plenty more of the fabric so I’ll probably do it over in the future.

Try a floor adhesive, such as for linoleum. You'd need to clamp the end seam in place until cured. An alternative (if not better solution) would be a two part adhesive (like they use in boats for laminating wood). Test it on some scrap and if successful, then do the new part.

😃😎👊 Convair probably had it bonded directly to the Metal. That would be my guess. I'm sure they were doing them En Masse

Just an observation - leave it. If it's in place and you can't move it, there's no need to engineer something to hold it in place.

I most likely will as I’ve got many, many photographs of the real aircraft and I can’t see any indications of fasteners….or anything that would indicate something is pressing down on that aft end of the fairing.
