Watchmojo Probably won’t include the one episode *“eps 3.4_runtime-error.r00”* of Mr Robot where the ENTIRE episode is done in one take (or made it seem that way) where there was ZERO commercials
Dude. Scrubs. The episode where Brendan Fraser is dead the whole time or the episode where Dr. Cox loses 4 patients. Eyes welling up just thinking about those eps. Hard AF. Also, I think there were harder episodes of The Sopranos. Pine Barrens is a classic but the episode where Adriana dies is intense. The one where Bomponsaro dies is wicked. And the final episode is the hardest episode of all time. There’s also a few Twilight Zone episodes I’d add that went hard too.
The '100' episode of Criminal Minds where the serial killer they've been chasing for awhile- George Foyet- follows through on his end to go after Agent Hotchner's family if he continues the pursuit. Hotch's gutteral reaction, who is normally stone cold stoic, when he finds his wife dead and that his little boy hid in a toybox while it happened is a serious gut punch in TV history.
“Rains of Castamere” is among the best _Game of Thrones_ has. Seeing most of House Stark go out at the Red Wedding, topped with Catelyn’s despaired scream, CHILLS!
“Fishes” from the bear was so hard to watch. Their mom and my mom are so alike that i was hurting the entire episode, lump in my throat. It was so raw, but I was so happy it existed so people could feel like they weren’t alone with narcissistic parents
Doctor Who Vincent and the Doctor. A episode that sidelines the Sci fi narrative in favour of a hard hitting story about real world depression. But offers a glimmer of hope.
The fact that Logan's death happened in the middle of the season, in what was supposed to be Connor's wedding, made it even more shocking. Logan once again chose work over his family, and had he attended the wedding, he might have received medical attention sooner.
It really highlighted the consequences of Logan's choices throughout the series. How do you think his absence affected the dynamics of the family moving forward?
@@WatchMojo I think that they were all traumatised by his actions, and without him being present to confront him, they now had to deal with it themselves. Roman's breakdown at the funeral really cements this.
That episode was such a standout! The tension and emotion really kept you on the edge of your seat. What did you think of the character development in that episode? And were there any specific moments that really struck you?
I’m being completely serious when I say that Bluey’s The Sign episode went harder than many shows, and more importantly is an absolute masterclass in writing, expertly interweaving many separate narratives to an emotional conclusion.
Everyone’s Waiting is the best tv episode I have ever watched. The range of emotions I experimented was insane. And the final montage... utterly breathtaking. I will talk about it for the rest of my life.
Thank you for mentioning ‘Hannibal’ and ‘Long, Long Time’ from ‘The Last of Us’! Such amazing episodes abound in the entirety of ‘Hannibal’, and that episode of ‘The Last of Us’ was absolutely *singular*. ‘The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be’ was one of the hardest hitting things (no pun intended) I’ve ever seen on television. Even though I’d read The Walking Dead comics and knew what to expect, it was still such a gut-punch. I had hope that Negan would stop after killing Abraham with that barbed wire wrapped baseball bat, Lucille… but it was not to be. He ended up killing my favorite character on the show, Glenn. Funnily enough, through Negan’s redemption arc, he became my second favorite character on ‘The Walking Dead’. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is a brilliant actor. He played Negan to a T, and thankfully, the writing for his character did NOT disappoint. I feel sorry for the millions of people who stopped watching the show with Glenn and Abraham’s deaths. They missed out on one of the best redemption arcs I’ve ever seen in my life. Also, one episode of Television I saw as a kid that truly impacted me was ‘Goodbye, Farewell, and Amen’ from ‘M*A*S*H’. It’s probably better known as “the chicken episode”, but I think I cried for two days after my elementary school aged self watched that piece of television.
Ozymandias is a really tough episode to watch , Hank dying , Jesse becoming a prisoner , Walt and Skyler fighting , Walt kidnapping Holly , etc. Breaking Bad was never a happy show , somany dark moment’s are in it , but Ozymandias is where thing’s really go to hell , and none of it would have happenned if the protagonist wouldnt have had such a big ego , Walt brought all of those thing’s to himself , he could have stopped being in the buizness after killing Gus , but no he just got arrogant , cocky and contiued to cook meth and then he let his pride and ego turn him into a heartless monster.
The way it handles grief and loss is so raw and real, especially with how it contrasts the supernatural elements of the show. What aspects of that episode resonated with you the most?
The walking dead lost over a third of it audience because of that episode. It was too much. Its like the episode of the sopranos where the young girl gets beaten to death. They lost a massive percentage of their viewership because of that.
@@cameronfair2397 I feel sorry for all the viewers who quit watching TWD after that episode. They are missing one of the best redemption arcs I’ve ever seen on television, and that’s a shame.
Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad and Sopranos are so wild, their episodes make Quentin Tarantino look like child’s play! Also, I would put Little House on the Prairie for a show that went too hard with violence for a family show!
The fact that Two Cathedrals was only on the honourable mention list is insane. There were several West Wing episodes that went insanely hard but that particular episode and that scene were completely ground breaking and it was one of the most memorable and well written scenes in TV history. I watched most of the series on the list but nothing ever touched me or hit as hard as the west wing for its realism and character development!
Recency bias list. Zero tv from before the turn of the century? How about er's "Love's Labor Lost?" It was already the #1 show, but after this episode you realize, oh...this show is something special. How about Sports Night's "Mary Pat Shelby" about an athlete sexually harassing a reporter and she's afraid to come forward decades before the "Me too" movement. Such brilliant writing. How about the episode "My Screw Up" of Scrubs about Brendan Fraser's character (keeping it spoiler free, but those who know). My all time favorite would be "The Coach's Daughter" episode of Cheers. Taking a big swing early in the first season is this gem where Coach's daughter is settling for an abusive fiance because she doesn't feel she's attractive enough to find someone else to love her. Coach's interaction with her at the end of the episode where they discuss Coach's love of his wife and her "unconventional beauty" brings me to tears thinking about it. Talk about an episode way, way, way ahead of its time. Talk about a show that went hard when it's normally just a bunch of goofballs in a bar cracking wise. Allyce Beasley and Nicholas Colasanto crushed it. It's my favorite scene of the entire 273 episode run.
I always think about the chicken episode of ‘M*A*S*H’… that one was a literal gut-punch. I was maybe 9 or 10 when I saw that and I cried for days afterward.
I cried a lot watching Band of Brothers, but Why We Fight had me in absolute shock that I started to SOB uncontrollably with my jaw on the floor. I will NEVER forget how broken I was when they opened the doors to the camp.
For sure, when they're told to stop feeding them and lock em back in, I know the reasoning for it but the look on the faces as the gate is shut was just a straight gut punch..
The writers did a hell of an amazing job on the episode Why We Fight. I cried non stop watching the soldiers saving the Jews from concentration camps 😢😢😢😢😢
That episode is incredibly emotional and powerful. The depiction of those acts of bravery really highlights the importance of humanity even in the darkest times.
I'm sorry but Glens death in Walking Dead was a scene per scene match to the comics and I waiting hoping it would be. If someone got upset they were definitely not fans of the comics.
Walking dead was done for me when they killed Glenn, show was at its best when it was twisty and well written, but that was just murder-porn in the worst way.
They went scene for scene in comparison to the comics. If that was too much, then definitely don't read the comics. Our characters were a lot more evil than we got to see in the show.
My problem with Glenn's death in TWD wasn't the violence (since the comics are equally brutal) but the fact that it has JUST faked his death in the mid-season. So it felt cheap.
Buffy the vampire slayer “the body” for a show that regularly dealt with death and the undead, This was the first time it depicted such a raw portrayal of grief.
That One Episode Of Grace Under Fire (1993-1998) where the Great Grandmother of the Kelly family gave Grace Her ring because she hated Jean Jean gets pissed and Grace just gives It back saying It's not worth It until Emmet gives It to her In Secret
The West Wing season 7 episode "The Debate", which was an episode that consisted of an episode-long Presidential campaign debate between the show's two candidates, portrayed by Jimmy Smits and Alan Alda. It was a stage play filmed live - TWICE - once for the east coast and again the west coast. It was also largely improvised and was watched live by nearly 10 million viewers. There were also pre and post-debate polls conducted among a number of viewers to gauge who the viewers thought won the debate. How this episode didn't make the cut, I have no idea. I sometimes wonder if the Mojo channels just do superficial google searches and pick only the most well-known episodes of shows to include. I'm skeptical about how much actual research goes into these videos.
You guys need to get over TWD's episode where Glenn dies, you bring it up every chance you can to complain about it, yet its one of the highest rated episodes in the series (its the episode before that that angered fans because it ended on a cliff hanger, they loved the premier the following season). And more importantly, Glenn's death was from the source material. So yeah.
Nah I think most of these were very appropriate for the series. Especially MASH, that was the precursor for modern tv. I don’t like the title, I prefer “most memorable moments”
