I miss the hell out of Terminator: Sarah Chronicles, Firefly and Dark Angel.
SAME!
Yeah Sarah Conner Chronicles was good. What's wrong with people.
Alien Nation - ended right as the story was heading into a vibrant arc.
Major networks like CBS, ABC, NBC, and FOX cancel their tv shows so often and so quickly it makes it almost pointless to get invested in any of them. I remember when FlashForward was apparently the best thing since sliced bread, but it was cancelled after 1 season and had a ridiculous series ending.
One reason I am no longer subscribed to any streaming service or watch any shows. I just use youtube for my entertainment now, wonder when it will be cancelled? lol
How is Firefly not first???? Otherwise great list.
Um, because it's not your list?
"Jericho" is NOT Sci-Fi. Nor "post-apocalyptical". It's straight Drama / Suspense.
I miss the Librarians (2014)
Be sure to check out The Librarians: The Next Chapter. It will premiere on/about January 1st, 2025 on TNT.
@@mitros4 omg! More Librarians? I'm so happy
CK is always Entertaining
The 1980s BBC tv version of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy should have had a second series and I’ll always be salty that it didn’t get one since it’s one of the best adaptions of Douglas Adams work
"Space above and beyond" would have kicked into high gear in a second season with the Chig war in full effect. Too bad the Aussies couldn't pull the financing together...
You left off Journeyman. But I am glad to see I'm not the only one that remembers and loved Space: Above and Beyond and Stargate Universe.
The Dark Angel video game was EVERYTHING to me.
Fox cancelled Dark Angel because the didn't want to pay for two sci fi shows at the same time and then show the replace with was firefly and we all know what happen then
Farscape's cancellation was a sudden emotional gut punch that still hurts today. That was such a fun and unique show that they could've done a great deal more with it for at least a few more seasons. And it should also serve as the original cautionary tale for writers and producers working for SyFy. NEVER end your seasons on cliffhangers, no matter how big your show may seem to be for the network. Back when SyFy was the SciFi Channel (still a stupid name change), Farscape was their OG original series and it was their biggest, at least until they picked up Stargate SG-1 from syndication and decided to focus most of their originals budget on that franchise instead. And even that show and it's two spinoffs were all eventually cut short by SyFy rather than allow the writers to give their stories proper conclusions. In fact, I don't think SyFy has ever allowed one of their originals to last more than five seasons on their network (I know SG-1 has 10 seasons overall but only 6 through 10 were made by SyFy). No wonder Ronald D Moore decided to give his Battlestar Galactica reboot a definitive ending with season 4. He probably realized that SyFy would kill it regardless if he dragged it out much longer. For a network that's supposed to be all about science fiction and its adjacent genres, SyFy really has a knack for spitting in the faces of science fiction fans.
Absolutely loved Flash Forward. I was very excited for the premier; I still remember being disappointed when I heard about it's cancellation. Damn to get nostalgic for "appointment TV" from time to time.
Alphas was another good one that got canceled after 2 seasons. Last episode was a massive cliffhanger.😢
Farscape ❤
One of my all time favorites.
Honorable mention: all of the Fox "one season" series that suffered from the network...
A very good list.
Now how about a video regarding 'one season' Sci-Fi shows...
that in retrospect were way ahead of their time.
Start with VR-5, The Visitor, Surface, Invasion, and Harsh Realm.
Glad that someone remembers The Visitor, with John Corbett...
Usual Suspects and Flash Forward were outstanding. Sawyer's novel of Flash Forward doesn't give insight into how the series might have gone, even though he was involved. I'd love to know what was planned. Also a recent one, Debris, had a great premise (based on Roadside Picnic, a Russian Sci-Fi novel).
Favorite sci fi series is Stargate SG-1
Sarah Conner Chronicles, Space above and beyond, Firefly. 3 of my favorite series of all time
And by the way, Fox SUCKS!
I want to give a shout out to _Odyssey 5,_ which should definitely also be on this list.
It's a little too obscure to really make it onto any of these lists, but anyone who's seen even a couple of episodes usually gets hooked... and then it's just over, and on a cliffhanger to boot.
But the premise of 5 astronauts, who watch the Earth get destroyed, then get shot back five years in the past, and given a second chance to prevent it from happening... just too delicious to resist. Would have loved to see it get the ending it deserved.
Does anyone remember VR5?
Dark Angel 💔
Still can’t forgive how my mother happily introduced me to Firefly as her favorite show and gave me her dvd box set to watch. Happily I came back to her for season 2 in which she informed there was none, that the show had been cancelled after season 1 for YEARS, and instead handed me Serenity
I agree with a lot of these but think The 4400 should have made this list over a few on here.
Favorite Sci-Fi series: Farscape
Close second: Babylon 5
If firefly isn't number one, I am going to be upset.
Ascension and Terra Nova should have been on this list.
Loved Terra Nova!
I love Farscape!
That having been said, I don't mind that it avoided being a show that went on too long while declining in quality (especially since we did get the miniseries to fix the cliffhanger.)
Alien Nation!
How about Day 5? *Great* psy-fi thriller!!
You did my favourite Sci Fi show justice by making it number 1, I watched it when it was broadcast and it was amazing. I still love it, watching it again every 3 or 4 years. Not as good, but an honourable mention certainly would have been Andromeda!
my fave xFiles spinoff was Millennium with Lance Hendrickson ... felt like Se7en for tv. Dark Angel was great. SG-Universe was my fave SG show. loved the serious tone, the limited resource element... Unpopular opinion- I'm a little tired of hearing people crying about Firefly. it was fun, but eventually would have run out of road; given how neatly Serenity wrapped up most of the storylines. sucked having Wash die, true, but I'm a little tired of "Johnny Reb" tropes playing out. not all govt is monolithic, and not all anarchists are right. I'd bring back SGU before Firefly
Thanks For this ❤❤❤
No love for Alien Nation? The best sci-fi cop show ever. At least we got 5 TV movies after it was canceled
Why Raised by Wolves not included?
Dollhouse and possibly Alphas should have been on the list but Firefly should have definitely been number one.
"7 Days" was pretty good but got the axe too soon.
You left out Earth II which was shown opposite Space:Above and Beyond.
Slight quibble: it's just Serenity, no "the".
That was her name. You wouldn't call me "the Mike", would you? Although, on second thought...
He's right. Chronicles is the best thing in the franchise after T2.
Dark Angel broke Lita's neck
I dont understand why networks are even allowed to broadcast shows out of order when its the first time the episodes are being aired
What about John Doe?
I remember-and loved-the John Doe series.
The Stargate movie was great
Firefly and Farscape.
The 4400! Not the bad reboot the OG!
I agree with all but some different orders!
OK, so, farscape may deserve number 1. Tv execs need to quit forcing shows to air episodes out of order.
The Lone Guns was so boring, which sucked because I loved those characters in the parent series.
Also, as made clear on Firefly, it's just "Serenity," not "The Serenity."
Bring back firefly
YIPPPPPPIEEEEE
Good riddance to SGU. Keep your Battlestar Galactica out of my Stargate 👴
