      True. However, skill, fortitude and experience are priorities. Along with skills in various disciplines. For example medical care and its associated needs, such as skill level and medical supplies. As far as firearms you'll be hard pressed to carry and maintain one, along with the required ammo and other necessities such as spare parts, lubrication (very important) and of course ammo for which you can never have too much, unless you're trying to swim. That said, in reality, weapons are certainly useful. However, staying alive and keeping others alive as well is a priority. So learn to fashion and use improvised weapons. Lastly: If you hunt you already have skills others may not. And although very important, simply staying alive in the event of poor weather (because if you're soaking wet and cold you won't last long without getting dry and warm). Hence it will will become a priority over ammo, etc. Btw, my comment with regard to the skills and realities, one can, again, learn much by hunting. Btw I grew up around and was shooting at age 8 when I took first deer. Of course my dad was with me in case he needed help. >;)

    That list was spot on. I've been around firearms for over 40 years and served 20 years in the military. I also have 10 years of armed security experience. My list is exactly the same as yours. Now there's another tool that I strongly suggest people place in their toolbox and it's a crossbow. Not for self defense, but for hunting in a survival situation because you can reuse the bolts (arrows) and can hunt quietly without giving away your position to others.

      @Kevin Hart You do realize that .223 is irresponsible against most game animals, and even .243 is iffy. .270 is ok because it's a necked down 30.06, but the .30 class is the most recommended as minimum. Also, your claim against crossbows shows your gross ignorance. Your reply tells us all that you know absolute zero about hunting and prepping, if it only took two months, animals would have been extinct tens of thousands of years ago, if not hundreds of thousands of years. You have the IQ of a gnat.

    • @robwalls6057
      @robwalls6057 Рік тому +25

      @Kevin Hart You contradicted yourself by saying that all animals will be gone in two months. At that point ALL guns or weapons used for hunting will be worthless anyway. As for your silenced AR 15, there's no such thing as a totally silent gun. Suppressors do not make a gun totally silent, that's only in movies . Also if you're using a crossbow or bow to hunt with, YOU' ARE NOT USING UP YOUR AMMO and you can REUSE the bolts or arrows BECAUSE EVENTUALLY YOU WILL RUN OUT OF AMMO, have it stolen or you won't be able to get a cache site. You must PLAN FOR THE WORST CASE SCENARIO and a crossbow or bow gives you another tool for the toolbox. You can also use a bow to fish with, by the way. As for lugging stuff around, he never said or did I say you couldn't use the shorter barrel or carbine version of the firearms mentioned. As for a crossbow its just another option and something to consider. You don't think it's a viable option, that's fine, but you didn't have to get all snippy about it and have an attitude.

    • @robwalls6057
      @robwalls6057 Рік тому

      @Kevin Hart There are millions people in America like myself who were born, raised and have lived our lives in the countryside. We are proficient at hunting, fishing, growing crops, raising livestock, fixing and building things . We live in and with the land and have good survival skills. Not all Americans are wimps . As for an SHTF , they come in many different forms and nobody can predict exactly what's going to happen. Therefore your planning and your kit has to be flexible with different options and not pigeonholed . Apparently you have made the classic mistake of being an arrogant myopic prepper who thinks they can predict the future and the exact outcome of an SHTF right down to the exact time when all the animals are gone and the exact percentage that will survive, that's foolish on your part and you will be one of the first ones to die because you think you know it all. As for a crossbow or bow being a toy, In my life I have harvested my share of big game animals to include numerous whitetail deer weighing up to 200 pounds. 90 percent of the time my bolts or arrows equipped with modern day broad heads have violently passed through the deers body and blown out the backside causing the deer to drop in it's tracks or stumble off less than hundred yards and fall. Point being, a modern day crossbow or bow is a highly effective survival tool and should be a part of your toolbox.

      I do think quality over quantity could be a good thing. But I also know there isn't one that can do it all. You always need a side arm while carrying your primary at the ready. But I'm not hunting small varmint at 100 yards with a 308. I also wouldn't want to waste a 308 on a rabbit in a true shortage/ shtf scenario. Then there's the home defense... having grown up in gang territory in Cali... a shotgun with 00 Buck would be imperative, I would want something that has a full hallway spread at 15-20 yds

    Bow weapons shouldn't be overlooked either. In an actual SHTF scenario, they're more than capable for hunting so as to conserve firearm ammunition, and with some rudimentary machining/woodworking tools, it is entirely possible to craft more arrows or bolts as needed. Additionally, unless your arrow or bolt strikes a very hard surface such as a rock, you can retrieve your ammunition and use it again immediately.
    Moreover, the negligible noise when using bow weapons results in a much lower likelihood of startling your prey should you miss.
    Another added benefit is that since bow weapons are not firearms, they are completely unregulated and pre-fabricated arrows and bolts are plentiful.
    In terms of cost, last I checked you're effectively spending $1 per foot-per-second with your projectile speed for a full-size hunting crossbow. I recommend a rating of 400 FPS.

    • @williamroberts8550
      @williamroberts8550 Рік тому +3

      I agree. I used to hunt with a compound bow but now because of some health issues I shoot a crossbow with a hand crank. Extremely easy to cock and it will shoot where you aim. It shoots over 400ft/sec with rage hypodermic broadheads. Deer and black bear are the biggest game animals we can hunt in my area and it takes those without a problem. I shoot the factory arrows that I have ordered many extras just to have. My children can even cock and shoot it. If you don't hit your target it is something you are doing wrong it shoots so good it almost feels like shooting a 22lr but with way more damage. Bow and arrows and crossbows are so underrated. I have been using them for 30 years and have taken countless big game and turkeys with them. It is my preferred way to hunt over gun and muzzleloader and I do those as well. Never underestimate a bow and arrow or crossbow with the proper person behind it. They are deadly accurate and very quiet.

They settled on Smith 38/357 revolvers plus 22's, and 30 carbines. Water, food, medicines, fire making, more rugged clothing and reasonable amount of ammo. I keep plenty of ammo, but I think off and quote often the advise I heard from a WWI veteran regarding high capacity arms: "whomever you encounter, if you haven't taken care of business by round 1-2-3, you needn't worry about having 30 rounds, you'll be dead!" I believe videos like this are extremely important. Many of our parents and grandparents collected multiple calibers. While I think this is great it NEEDS to be done after you obtain the base arsenal. I agree here with the AR15, reliable semiauto handgun, pump shotgun, long range hunter, short range hunter. I would add a matching carbine to the handgun caliber and preferably 2 suppressors (1) .22 caliber can for close in varmint hunting undetected and (2) .30 caliber can for all .30 and 9mm for hunting undetected. They make .22/300blk/7.62x39/and 9mm subsonic. In a SHTF situation you may not want to draw any unnecessary attention to yourself. Let's not forget about using CCTV, motion detection, and being hidden from someone else's surveillance. These are important as well.

      I would also add something he didn't mention. A bow of some kind, I think is important to have. I own a cross bow, you can reuse the bolts for multiple shots. If things get bad, not giving away your position will be extremely important. Just my opinion.

The cross bow I was talking about, wasn't for protection. It was made in regards to hunting. In this kind of situation, every round you can spare. Is going to be extremely important. Again, just my humble opinion. As we both know, the best made plans in this kinda situation. Are going to be challenged and come undone, and not work out like we planned.

    Don't forget gas tubes, gas blocks, spare bolts, firing pins, and "oops kits" for all the springs and pins for your AR-15s/AR-10s. This also applies to all of your other guns. If the part is small/thin and stays dirty, it will corrode faster than the larger pieces of steel or aluminum. Anything that's spring operated you need to have spares. This includes magazines. The gas tubes are always first to go on ARs and I never see anyone have spares lying around. They're so inexpensive, it would be dumb not to.

    It's good to have a nice assortment. The more the better. But not everyone can justify having 7 firearms and ammo. Plus time/$$ practicing with each. Something for concealed carry, in 9mm or larger. 12 ga. pump with interchangeable choke tubes, (and barrel) and a powerful pellet gun. My most powerful one spits a pellet at 1400 FPS. That would be my bare minimum. While not near as accurate as a rifle, a 12 ga. will toss a slug out a pretty good distance. A fast shooting pellet gun will take lots of smaller game with the right shot and do it a little quieter than a .22 LR.
    A "target" won't know the difference in a hit from a .243 or .30/06. (2 or 4 legged) So my opinion on caliber for scout rifle is one that you feel comfortable with shooting, obtaining ammo. Of course there are some calibers that are more accurate than others, but most rifles are more accurate than most shooters are capable of. Yes, I'm speaking for myself too. Ain't gotta be MOA accurate to put meat on the ground, whether it's food or long pig.
    Staying out of gunfights is the best way to not get shot. So staying forted up at home is better than going out looking for supplies. A good supply of food, medicines, entertainment etc... will help avoid conflict, but won't stop looters from testing you. Thats where strategy and a well designed perimeter help out. Hopefully it will deter looters and let someone down the road do the dirty work dealing with the flies and buzzards.
    Having water pressure, water hoses and fire extinguishers is more important to me than a Springfield M1A Tanker 7.62. Wish I could afford both !!! lol

As well as, it could also be fine tuned well enough to replace the precision scoped rifle I also feel that a well tuned Ruger Mini-30 could take the place of the AK47 or SKS. I also agree with the .22 LR semi-auto, but, personally, feel that the D/A Revolver should be considered before a 9mm semi auto handgun. You would most likely be killing small game, you can keep it very quiet with a suppressor and you can carry a significant amount of ammo easily.
    If your idea is strictly homestead protection then I would go with a number of weapons on the list.
    No matter your definition of SHTF, it is a good exercise to engage in so that you’re not overwhelmed if the time ever comes.

      For small game (rabbits, etc), a pellet gun makes more sense. It's quiet too, so no need for a suppressor, and in an apocalyptic scenario, you can recover the pellet in most cases and reuse it. I live in the suburbs, and I sometimes hunt rabbits in my own yard using a pellet gun with the neighbors not even knowing it, just to get rid of them. But I have respect for nature, so I do eat what I kill.

    Okay, great list. Here are a few things to consider.
    1. Glock 23 chambered in 40 Auto. Why? Because with a conversion barrel and 9mm magazines, you have 2 guns instead of one.
    2. Yes, an AR chambered in 5.56. Another reason that wasn't mentioned is the fact that it can already fire two calibers just the way it sits. 5.56 NATO and .223 Remington. On top of that, a .22LR conversion kit can be put in the gun to make it a .22 negating the need for the 10/22 on your list.
    3. A .450 Bushmaster upper for your 5.56 AR, effectively negating the need for the scout style gun on your list. Set your 5.56 upper up to fight. Red dot, weapons light, backup irons. Set the .450 upper up to hunt with an LPVO and a big powerful light. Also, adding extended take down pins makes it a cinch to swap uppers. Ensure that your sling setup is identical on both uppers, and you'll find it seamless to go from little fast rounds to bear slaughtering heavy hitters.
    4. AR 308 because it took you a long time to train your family how to use the AR15, and an AR10 is exactly the same gun but bigger. In .308 for the availability of ammunition. This gun should have a minimum of an 18" barrel and a high-quality first focal plane scope.
    5. Then, with the money saved from not buying a scout rifle or a 10/22, get a .22LR pistol. This is good to have on you when carrying your larger gun. You may be hunting for a deer, but when you're hungry, that rabbit will do.
    And then training and ammo. As much of these two as you can afford.

    That's a lot to carry if you have to bug out! Everyone thinks they will drive but when it's time all you'll have is what is in your back pack. Water, food, knives, ammo,weapons... just how much can you carry, all the time...?

      Absolute correct. I, a senior, can only carry my Ruger Mark III 22 LR, an accurate and reliable survival pistol, plus adequate ammo if I have to move from one location to another frequently. I think more about putting food on the table rather than fighting a busload of zombies or something .

      If you do not have a bug out camp with suppys hidden already get one .you do not need a hundred acres 1acre will do.something you can walk in 2 or three days.i have people who are welcome at my camp as I am welcome at theres.you will starve to death or walk into ambush if you don,t have a place to go.you do not want to be a refugee.any type of high power weapon is a necessity .used 3030 or bolt action revolver etc.a deer or pig or bear will feed you alot longer then then a rabbit.small game is better trapped.if you are fishing a gun that will cover at a distance is handy.surviving is all obout developing relationships with like minded trustworthy people and priorities.we are not alone not everyone thinks we are crazy.

      Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I don't remember me saying anything about carrying all of this at once - this channel promotes bugging IN as a primary plan. This is only meant to be a (by no means a completely comprehensive) list of firearms to consider.

      @Kevin Hart I am an old man and one of those that "think" I have a pretty good base. But then again, I live out in the middle of nowhere Idaho, have a multi-generational family on one property, too old to bug out, and have prepared to fight in place. After 29 years in the military (small arms instructor) and 12 years in law enforcement, including SWAT, plus sons that are veterans... all I can say is that if someone thinks they're going to walk up to one of our dwellings and set a fire...bring it, and they better pack a very large lunch.

    I have always been a believer in keep much rifle food on hand. Especially after Brandon ended up in DC. When the rifle food became scarce. I bought every round I could afford. Even calibers or shot shell I could. If shtf. It will be a better barter material than food.

    Good selection but you can only carry 1 handgun and 1 long gun at a time without overloading. All depends on your situation and what you need to defend against. Bug in or bug out makes a huge difference. Where you are may become unlivable forcing you out in which case you better pick 2 and be realistic about what you can carry. You may not have a vehicle that runs or gas. I am old so for me it wouldn't be much and my wife even less. I do not expect to be among the long term survivors. For my wife and I, 22lr may well be the only option because of weight. Still have to carry other things like water and food.
    Don't count on hunting. Most likely there wont be anything left after a couple of months.

      @little drane I have found the Federal 45 grain to be very reliable in multiple firearms including pistols. LCP2 likes it. Decent accuracy too. Swiss army uses bikes in that fashion. We recently went to recumbent trikes. Wife can no longer ride a bike. We are in our 80's. Can get trailers for them and bikes. The trikes are actually easier than walking. Alternate means of transportation if gas gets too high.

    I added an AR15 in 9mm to my collection because it takes the same mags as my Glock 17 and is pretty accurate up to 150-200 yds. Will probably pick up An 8” barrel and folding stock so it’ll fit in my backpack and good for CQB.

      @@ObamaoZedongot the best choice at all let’s put it that way. Especially when you can have the same platform the same size but with a rifle round behind it. EPC’s are stupid in my opinion being that pistol rounds are meant as either a sidearm or what you use to fight your way to a rifle round. So why not have one chambered in a rifle round to begin with 🤷🏻‍♂️

      @@ObamaoZedong We use use it in the police department with a 16" barrel. This in the AR platform gives you more kinetic energy than a 8" barrel .357 magnum. It also helps in penetrating heavy clothing, but still may be a problem in over penetration of sheet rock walls. The plus was the 33 round mags also.
      Depending on the mission set, the 5.56 was also used.

    Vietnam M16s had very tight tolerances which jammed in dirty environments. Some US soldiers would pick up the Chinese AK47 off dead Vietcong soldiers which were made with alot looser tolerances and hardly ever jammed in dirty environments. Too bad I lost all my firearms in a 🚣‍♀️ accident 🥺.

      They also had problems with the propellant in the ammunition that they used during the early years in Vietnam which was prone to extreme fouling. Also they neglected to chromoly line most barrels until 1968 or 1969 so that led to rust in the chambers as well. The modern version is much better but the AK-47 will run regardless of how it's treated.
