This is not a cool product at all, they just had a good presentation. It's investor bait. "I don't understand big data but it could be a revenue source in the future"-type statements in a pitch kindof give it away. It's basically a marketing service that puts app icons on your phone that lead to web sites. ( in this case, Single Page WebApps ) Your grandmother would use that, not you. Then again, it's not really asking for an awful lot of money.
@@MrLiquidxIce It's 30% fees from Google Play afterwads, but the big thing here is that it's a side channel for convenience rather than rule breaking. Also google has restrictions on apps that are themselves marketplace apps, and has a variety of restriction on things like explicit content.

Sort of, but not really. Clever tactic actually, because they only had all 5 in mind, and as a backup, 2 specific dragons. Tej was not one of them. By blowing down his offer, it showed two things, that they were serious about their business, and that they we're going to stand firm on their negotiation. Of course Peter called the bluff in the end, it put a lot of pressure on the two dragons they wanted, and it could have just as easily went in their favor. If it were anyone else, the investor would have most likely budged as to not lose out on such a big opportunity. Peter has been playing the game for a very long time though, so he made a calculated decision, and it was the right one.
@@DennGreenIII Peter knew from the start when they said "we're looking for 2 specific dragons" that he was one of them, the guy is specialized in this industry.. For that reason he could put the stake high and still get a deal. He's very experienced and clever.
Yeah like wtf?! EVERY other time the Dragons get that attitude about favouring which dragon some upstart wants or how they told Taj and Touka for sod off they'd be pushed down that lift shaft. These guys were VERY lucky they had something Debra and Peter really wanted.
They have a very promising business, and giving away 5% of it to someone with little expertise in that field for a relatively small amount of money wasn't something they were willing to do. They came with a clear goal in mind: get a dragon that can help in the business. They don't need the money, they need the connections.
Jenny was finally on the verge of making an offer, but when the guy mentioned the bet he had, spite got the better of her and she spoke her 2 favorite words.
I have barely seen her make an offer. I wonder why she is even on the show. I like Touker throwing in several generous offers, but entrepreneurs prefer to stick to where the money is, with Peter or Deborah.
Tej Lalvani is an amazing businessman no doubt but unfortunately it's just not that simple. They'll make more money with Peter Jones owning 15% than they would Tej's 5% purely off contacts alone.

I'm torn because, there's freedom in it too. But of course if you have no idea what you're installing then yeah, it's a one way trip to malware city. What a disrespectful tosser he was to tej, I hope he has no luck in business. One day he may have to ask tej for a job,, stacking shelves with vitamins and health foods......tej is only worth few hundred million dollars,, hope he gets over losing out on this deal,,😀😆🤣😂
I'm not a businessman in any capacity, but I saw it as a matter of showing intent, his objective was to show how set he was into getting either deborah or peter
By getting Tej to come forward with his offer at the guest terms, he reassured that the valuation was a good deal. Peter and Deborah was asking for more, by refusing Tej who is a credible Dragon, the guest takes a stand that they are there for the opportunities the Peter and Deborah have. It was his way to negotiate their terms. They were now pressured to go lower or leave the deal. It was a ballsy move, we all could feel it. The rejection towards Tej indirectly became an insult against all Dragons, rather than a confirmation of the business's value. Peter's comment at the end confirms that this negotiation was one of his hardest, he was most likely debating with himself whether to go down or not.
@@accuriousgaming He should of left Taj in the running to pressure peter to come down. He should also have been explicit in saying he would like Peter and Debs to come up with a joint deal. He didnt leave them time to come up with that themslves... unless the vid was badly cut.
Maybe it's because he isn't the lowest offer a firm at being slightly higher. If you are looking for house work and go for the lowest bid, chances are it will be a cheap job. Which may not be true about the dragons but maybe that subconciously is taken into account. They dont feel like they are getting a bad deal because they are willing to give up a little more for a little bit better of a job. Which may or may not be true. 2nd guess is that in sales you want to give off the vibe of success. If you pull up to a meeting in a broken down 1990 rust bucket, you will have a worse chance then if you pulled up in a lambo. How people perceive you also matters.
Peter's a smart guy. The entrepreneurs had already revealed they were there for two dragons, although at that point they hadn't disclosed which ones. Now Peter was either going to be among those two or not. If he wasn't, there was no point making a comparable offer as the entrepreneurs would always choose the dragon they wanted. And if he was, that means he could ask for more equity. Plus, he must've suspected he was the dragon they wanted given his background. It was a safe bet, really
Tej: “I’ll give you my entire net worth, for 1%” Peter: “I’ll buy you a drink, in exchange for your entire company and the adoption paperwork for your children” Business owner: “Peter all the way!”
The Tough negotiation was from Peter, he got a deal at DOUBLE the equity Tej was knocked down to and the entrepreneur gave away a lot more than he wanted. Had he kept Tej in play, he would have got Peter lower. That was a good start but a poor finish and negotiations are about how you finish!
There was manipulation from both sides both trying to get involved at lowest risk to themselves. Peter didn't care about being alienated he just said that as leverage because the other guys were winning and out manipulating.
Yeah 100% with you on that Just keep Tej on the game and Peter would of lowert he’s offer because he wanted it a piece of Beezer The guys might of had a plan to give up to 10% but if they played the game properly they could of given less then 10%

Beezer didn’t reach anywhere since this episode. Not to mention Google already offer this. The concept is also flawed since the “app” is in fact just a home screen shortcut to a mobile friendly website. Anyone investing in this is a fool.
Apple does not allow any applications outside of the appstore period. iOS bypassing the appstore is breaching terms of use. Can't be done without hacking your phone or paying for a development toolkit with a monthly subscription. Android does not allow any applications outside of the preinstalled appstores either by default. They do allow you to go to the settings and click through 10 warnings not to do it to allow a one-time install of an app that's not on one of the app stores. So you do that again for every app. Why did this fail? Because their idea requires persuading the user to go to their user settings, under "advanced" go to "developer" and click "enable developer mode" and then "allow sideloading apps" and then confirming a few times that this opens you to viruses and is very unsafe each time someone wants to install an app outside the appstore.
Ze Spy Muffin Man You have got it wrong mate. It’s not an “app” which they were advertising. It’s a home screen shortcut widget which they sent to people. Once you click on the home screen widget, it takes you to a safari browser with a mobile friendly website which looks like an app but it’s not. You can do this yourself with any website now by clicking the share button (at bottom of Safari browser in middle), then clicking on “add to home screen”. Do you understand now?

It wasn't. They actually knew they wanted Peter from the beginning. With putting on the pressure like that, they tried to get Peter to negotiate for a lower percentage. By using Tej as a bargaining chip, they tried to outplay Peter.

"Oh we're removing the App Stores from the pipeline" is such a convincing statement that makes you sound like you've gotten a breakthrough. I can't believe Peter Jones, who mentioned Big Data, doesn't know how easy it is to make a PWA builder, and what WIX ultimately is. These investors got played. Lol
You do realise they are allowed to check this stuff after the filming, better to make the offer then do due dilligence than not make it and miss out, less than 1 out of 3 offers actually complete off air
Exactly. If it were to be wordpress then that wouldve actually impressed me considering how many sites are made using wordpress. And even if they were to implement data extraction via their service, it still doesnt mean jack shit if no one is going to use it. And lets be honest, who opens a random download link anymore? Maybe if youre naive but I dont trust them for one bit unless they are apps like terrarium tv that are prohibited from the app store because they offer an illegal service. And even then, the chances of it being a faulty download is enormous.
Leveraging the profits from big data at a reduced percentage of shares still enables larger profits than without big data and with more shares. At least, that's what I assume his logic was. Only time will tell for certain.

You never do that, even though you have a target, he could have used others to home in on his target. Went away with a deal he didn't want. Perhaps the nervousness in the den.
Did you just use the term buzzword to sound smart? you know big data is the soil growing your digital fingerprint and your predictive behavior everytime you buy or search anything?
Stellar Fervour That have nothing to do with the app who is destined to enterprise to design their own app and distribute to their already known customer...
What a crap idea. I work in the consumer tech space and I have never heard anyone say “no one downloads my app”. I actually hear the opposite; people download the app but no one uses it. Not only that but companies hate making apps - having to rebuild their browser service in a mobile app that no one uses - huge waste of money - plus the company has to keep updating the app every time a new OS update comes out. The company will go bust very soon.
iPhone Email totally agree, the problem the ‘app’ purports to solve isn’t difficulty in downloading an app, it’s one of awareness which won’t be solved by having a link to a mobile friendly website
Smoking Crop the original idea they pitched in the den has been dropped - it didn’t work. They have now shifted to become a Web App Builder - a Web App is hosted on the cloud and accessible via a browser unlike a mobile app which is downloaded to a device. Web apps are nothing new - you access web apps everyday. To avoid seeming like they completely abandoned the terrible original idea they simply offer a QR code for a bookmark to the web app in your browser. There is absolutely nothing unique about anything they do. There are other Web app building platforms, you can generate a QR code for free... all the other stuff they talk about is just marketing activity.
Wow! What really blew me away was how Peter Jones manipulated the position of the whole room and thrown down the axe with his offer which quite frankly demanded 10% more than what the entrepreneurs were willing to give. Peter, are a the real dragons' slayer!
The entrepreneurs made it a bit too easy, honestly. It was far too obvious that they wanted Peter more than anyone else, and by alienating the other dragons, they played right in to him. They could definitely have gotten a better deal if they played it smarter.
So let me get this straight, they have built a system to by pass all the security and safety measures that a AppStores offers 🤔 to allow you to put Apps on your mobile which haven't been security tested.
Appstore takes a huge amount of your revenue. These apps are not native so they can't do much harmful things to your device, altho the potential of getting scammed, yeah that's upto you.
@@SteveGillham "quick buck" 30% of your revenue is not a quick buck. Altho thankfully apple recently created a program where devs who earn less than 1 million a year have to pay I think 15%. I think that was a very good move. While most devs make less than 1m, apparently 96% if I remember correctly, since they are small devs, they only make about 5% of the appstore revenue. So yeah apple isn't losing much but for small devs it's a lot.
@@shadmansudipto7287 I am not saying that Apple pricing model is fair for Devs, however that is just how Business functions and it is their Business strategy for making money; Design a secure phone, Spend large money advertising to customers, make it easy for customers to download Apps for their phone, make their AppStore easy to reach world wide and be trusted, lock people into their walled garden to keep control of the security of the phone. If some Dev wants more money, They can charge more for their Apps, but there is any number of other Devs who are happy to uncut them. Or switch from making Phone Apps which are low valued per unit sold, instead change to other software products with higher margins. That is the arena they have chosen to play in but they don't want to play under the same rules. If you suggest that by passing Applies Security to make more money demonstrates the "fast buck" approach. Its Apples walled Garden, you shouldn't moan about the garden that Apple created after all, they put all that money up front for everyone else to use, they should try and get their money back.
@@SteveGillham bruh you sound like an apple fanboy. Go and read about the time they suddenly made it so that unreal engine couldn't be used in Mac for 2 weeks for some other issue, screwing over many game studios.

@@TheFamousMileEnd the whole point of the app store is to "trust" what you are installing on your phone. There's checks and virus scans that Google does on andriod. And apple does as well. To make sure the app your installing isn't stealing your data and sending it to someone else. By bypassing the app store your removing these checks. And while they may put their own checks in place. It won't be as good of a job that the giant companies can do with their years of experience and millions of dollars behind them.
@@TheFamousMileEnd as for wix and Weebly. They are genuine business and used by legit people. However it's a way to make a fast free website that spammers and scammers take advantage of. That one is more if a personal dislike then a security issue
Anyone else frustrated that the dragons dont ask important questions about how the fact that theyre emailling apps to people, no iOS devices would be able to install the apps...
This is a major security flaw: "you can just send a link to a friend and they will download the app". If you click on certain links they can steal your accounts like banks or other important accounts, I wouldn't trust everything I seen on this website even though its trusted.
This was my first thought too, but really what they've done is made a Wix for apps, which means that any "app" that could be sent through their platform will be built on their platform. I think by "apps" they mean progressive web apps, which pretty much has the same security risks of visiting any website. They're not sending a full apk/ipa app as an attachment, it's just a frame that displays a website that looks like an app
People don't seem to understand this. Progressive web apps (PWA) files (JavaScript, CSS and HTML) are downloaded to the device, it's therefore "slightly" more than just a shortcut, since offline viewing is possible. They are providing an advertisement platform that allows the users to sell PWA apps for more money since Play Store takes 30% of the profit for native apps. Unfortunately, PWA does not work on iOS yet. They are basically creating a search engine but for PWA only and won't take as much money from users.
Bro what if i make a website were all developers can make apps for android system.. our website will make sure of zero virus & malware + we will take less commission like 15%compared to 30% that google takes soo that we can attract more developers to our platform & for users will use different strategies to attract.. What u say bro..???
The way I understood his pitch was that the companies create the apps (PWA's) themselves and send the link directly to the user therefore bypassing the app stores. There's no selling of apps or search engines involved.
If I'm not mistaken those are web apps. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing considering how capable they can be, but not a direct replacement for a native app when built through a Wix-style template.
It's more than that, progressive web apps are built offline first, for example. It's not "just" a website, but some things are really bad compared to a native app.
I can't say I would personally invest in this. The way many 3rd party apps or app stores work is by asking you to allow unsigned apps to be installed via your device's settings menu. This opens your phone up to a multitude of risks if you're not carefully aware of everything you download. Not a lot of people are going to trust that.
The app store exists as a safety measure. If you are just sending messages to people with links to download unverified applications, no one with the slightest hint of common sense will open it because thats the primary way how malware gets spread on phones. App stores filter out dangerous apps and your million dollar idea is bypassing a safety measure. Genius. Instead you can just send the massage with name of the app you want to promote, sure, but people arent too happy about receiving advertisements on their phones anyhow. And if you plan to create a new platform to download apps, how is that different from the app stores except being less safe with far fewer products to choose from? Its just a worse app store, probably cluttered with ads to generate revenue. Anyone investing in this is a fool. Its a nonsensical idea. Any moron can make an "app" that simply opens a website with downloadable files in just about 5 minutes.
You're not really downloading anything. They're company produces Web apps and then sends you a link so you can add that link to homescreen. They are PWAs which are just websites that can cache offline and send notifications
The answer, my friend, lies in big data. LOL.. pretty sure nobody in the den had any idea about this. Peter flipped in the word as a negotiation tactic to get the duo to agree to his proposal. Besides once someone marks the email message with the link as spam, then others on the web are likely to get a "potential spam" message as well based on trend. This looks like a money sucking investment with no significant returns in the long run. The playstore teams would want similar products on their tool since they are technically losing money otherwise earned had it been on their playstore.
I agree with Roland, that was pretty much what I was going to post after watching the video. If the links dont install the app as some people in the comments have said, then all you are really doing is setting up an alternative app store. What is to stop the existing app stores just adding link support? This is just a glammed up way of installing apps manually, which users can do already (at their own risk) But what do i know, people seem happy to use touch and pay and online banking whilst connected to public wifi. It will probably be a big hit
Beezer is just a shortcut to a mobile website without a full browser experience. (and you can make that website via beezer) They are bypassing the iOS/Play store because they aren't actually native apps..
Hydrium Etern last i checked, at least for iOS you need to go into your settings and disable some safety feature. Most people won’t do that for an app that will need sensitive info like the bank app they mentioned.
Nobody mentioning the fact that you would have to allow untrusted installs and quite rightly this raises red flags for most users or is simply out of their level of comfort. The appstore doesnt exist solely to skim from developers, it offers security to users. Crowdstrike has just shown the world the perils of circumventing development guardrails.

What a disrespectful thing to do to Tej
It's business. Nobody cares about feelings.

MrWeeRhys keep virtue signalling
They have a very promising business, and giving away 5% of it to someone with little expertise in that field for a relatively small amount of money wasn't something they were willing to do. They came with a clear goal in mind: get a dragon that can help in the business. They don't need the money, they need the connections.

He didnt leave them time to come up with that themslves... unless the vid was badly cut.

he's a beast! And very classy as well.
The man knows what he's worth, he's worth much more than most of the sharks so is actually entitled to request more equity.
Cuz he knows that he's the one everyone wants.

What a crap idea. I work in the consumer tech space and I have never heard anyone say “no one downloads my app”. I actually hear the opposite; people download the app but no one uses it. Not only that but companies hate making apps - having to rebuild their browser service in a mobile app that no one uses - huge waste of money - plus the company has to keep updating the app every time a new OS update comes out. The company will go bust very soon.
iPhone Email totally agree, the problem the ‘app’ purports to solve isn’t difficulty in downloading an app, it’s one of awareness which won’t be solved by having a link to a mobile

Yeah but the dragons don’t think that. They may own tech businesses but don’t actually know how they all work.
I'm confused! Most people use the internet to buy things e.t.c on their mobiles so clearly a mobile app or a mobile friendly site is needed
Beezer is just a shortcut to a mobile website without a full browser experience. (and you can make that website via beezer)

Dragons are very delicate and sensitive. Do not mess with their feelings.
Another so called over inflated tech company. What a waste of 15 mins
Rishi Harani yea. They’re not building native apps. It’s web based apps that are painful.
Yup - but I'm old enough to remember people saying exactly the same thing about Google, Facebook, Bitcoin... ;)
So let me get this straight, they have built a system to by pass all the security and safety measures that a AppStores offers 🤔 to allow you to put Apps on your mobile which haven't been security tested.
You have it very clear my friend
@@shadmansudipto7287
I am not saying that Apple pricing model is fair for Devs, however that is just how Business functions and it is their Business strategy for making money; Design a secure phone, Spend large money advertising to customers, make it easy for customers to download Apps for their phone, make their AppStore easy to reach world wide and be trusted, lock people into their walled garden to keep control of the security of the phone.
If some Dev wants more money,
They can charge more for their Apps, but there is any number of other Devs who are happy to uncut them.
Beezer. Awful apps, awful idea, horribly implemented. Pointless. The dragons don't seem to have a bloody clue. And the Wix platform is horrendous. 99% of their sites lay dormant.
Their web apps are very limited in capability also.
Isn't wix just for school projects? 😂😂😂
Wow 💓 thanks. Watching this 3 months since you did Its quite thrilling. But so great to have your grounding knowledge that put things into perspective. Love the Den. Cheers, 🥂
Don't know about Beezer but as a person with almost zero website design knowledge wix has significantly boosted my business. I use a wix website and I couldn't be happier
Literally this is just such a waste of money
As someone who works in IT, the moment they said "bypass app store" and "Wix + weebly" It sent shivers down my spine.
Can you explain why? I'm genuinely interested as I cannot gauge whether you're point of view is positive or negative

This is a major security flaw: "you can just send a link to a friend and they will download the app". If you click on certain links they can steal your accounts like banks or other important accounts, I wouldn't trust everything I seen on this website even though its trusted.
BANDI this causes huge security issue for mobile users.
@@JSK1993 true, but anything can be stolen on the internet, thank you for the reply though 👍
Jenny is sitting there thinking 125k .. well I've got bills to pay and the kids needs to be in school.. well I can't afford it
LOL is this a first? They told the dragons THEYRE out.
TheBigKing0 no. It’s not a first. But they are scam artists.
Also is there any process were we can convert Web apps to native apps..??
Mustaqeem Shaikh there are plenty of JavaScript tools to convert to native apps. Some popular tools include react-native and ionic.
The way I understood his pitch was that the companies create the apps (PWA's) themselves and send the link directly to the user therefore bypassing the app stores. There's no selling of apps or search engines involved.
Jenny: why wouldn't I make an offer? Here's why, I'm out.
13:35 he didn't have to say he was out they already declined him lmao
Actually when you say you're out they CAN'T come back to you and say actually we'll accept your offer (as a last resort bid)
If I'm not mistaken those are web apps. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing considering how capable they can be, but not a direct replacement for a native app when built through a Wix-style template.
Josh Foster Why would you use Wix to build an app? That’s almost as bad as using it to build a website.
@@slapmyfunkybass as far as I can tell that's exactly what this product is.
Yeah, it's the most ridiculous thing when something is an "app" and it's just a fudging shortcut to a website.
It's more than that, progressive web apps are built offline first, for example. It's not "just" a website, but some things are really bad compared to a native app.
Hahaha I almost watched 50 episodes and haven‘t seen Jennifer offering an investment once 😂
The show isn’t really about investment. The pitchers are the product. It’s cheap telly.
Agree this is no App Store just a link to a mobile site which people have been creating for the past 10 years, this is truly BS@@FaintImpression
I think you're missing the opportunity in big data here mate
I agree with Roland, that was pretty much what I was going to post after watching the video. If the links dont install the app as some people in the comments have said, then all you are really doing is setting up an alternative app store. What is to stop the existing app stores just adding link support? This is just a glammed up way of installing apps manually, which users can do already (at their own risk)
But what do i know, people seem happy to use touch and pay and online banking whilst connected to public wifi. It will probably be a big hit
your're never going to be able to bypass the ios or play store
Beezer is just a shortcut to a mobile website without a full browser experience. (and you can make that website via beezer)
They are bypassing the iOS/Play store because they aren't actually native apps..
They just did
lol @@dnbmania
What? It's stupidly easy to bypass the store, all you need is the APK file and to install it. No app store required at all.
Hydrium Etern last i checked, at least for iOS you need to go into your settings and disable some safety feature. Most people won’t do that for an app that will need sensitive info like the bank app they mentioned.
That was IMPRESSIVE!! I've got chills all over, this is the most awesome negotiation EVER!!
Pete has just invested in a dud. No usp and impractical given security - it's a glorified mobile website.
