  • Join me on a challenging solo hike up the Evans Peak trail in Golden Ears Provincial Park, where I climb up some steep switchbacks with some rope sections, hike alongside a stunning waterfall, and come face to face with a sooty grouse. Despite its difficulty, the Evans Peak trail is incredibly rewarding with nearly 360 views. Golden Ears Provincial Park is located in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, and has a variety of other hiking and camping options.

How long does it roughly take to go in and out?

Took about 6 hours with filming, so probably something closer to 4/5 hours if you're just hiking

You say this so nonchalantly that “we must be prepared to sweat”, while you seem so relaxed after hiking 1000 meters in 5 km. Wow! Is the word that comes to my mind. Not sure who was filming you from behind. Did a pretty awesome job.

Thanks so much for the comment! Was definitely a steep one but worth every step. I've got a little camera tripod that I set up for my walking shots. Hope you enjoyed the video!

did you go up for a bit, then come back down to grab your camera, and then go back up?

Hi, yes! Retrieving my camera after every shot made the hike quite a bit longer than it needed to be haha. Thanks for commenting!

Great video. Those damn fool hens always scare the crap out of me... they like to wait until the last second before you step on them, and then they'll fly away.

Were there a lot of mosquitoes or bugs on the trail?

At the time that I did this hike in May, the bugs weren't a problem at all. There's a chance they've gotten worse as the summer came around, but I couldn't say :)

Awesome Vid! I've done this hike a few times...definitely worth it with the views at the top. Do you know about the ice caves they have at Golden Ears?
