I have a page on Twitter where I post videos I find on prepping and cooking with preps so, I posted this there. Thanks for this video good for new preppers ot getting the attention of those who don't prep yet maybe this will get them started
well said greyman. sometimes the best help one can get is preparing more, being more self ready , learning before hand, doing before hand . Try not to be a burden on first responders for example in a time of crisis . I do what i can here. Really doing it because i CaRe enough to be more ready not only for myself but for others, love ones and friends and family. Being proactive and less reactive ... More forethought vs saying more in hindsight this or that ... take CaRe people
With the mandates here are so many manufactured shortages where I live, 911 said "please hold" and it took about 15-20 minutes before they even answered to ask me which department I needed. Doctors have four day delays right now. It was one of the most helpless feelings I ever had in those two seperate instances, I much rather not need to ever feel like I need to wait or depend on someone else again for my basic needs, someone else who is delayed primarily because of politics right now. Self sufficiency is the way folks. It's the peace of mind and confidence to calmly take care of your loved ones in times of disaster that's where it's at. Being the helping hand in your community instead of another panicked person.
FINALLY, a solid prepper! The term "prepper" has become a tin-foil hat, catch phrase, to grab attention to their channels. Just like 'HOMESTEAD"! The real problem is, folks like you, that live in Florida, get shoved under the "prepare yourself- rug" because "everyone" is so focused on what's happening in DC that they sort of forget that it's hurricane planning season. It's just like Christmas, it sort of slips their minds that is comes every 365 days a year, like clock work, and ..OH, humm...2 days away, guess I best go pick up a few things! I am part of Mark Sudduth' Hurricane Track group. I just keep plugging away on tips to.....and Mark keeps plugging away with his weekly updates to "TRY" and get folks to keep their eye on the ball, and not left field. Mark started getting after us in Dec., for this year. Get those trees looked after. Get that yard work done. Me, I'm on the back end saying here are some kitchen things that you can do, today. You are absolutely right, DO IT while you have your common sense. Not 24 hours before the storm could hit...and you have been glued, paralyzed in fear, for the possibility of..what if?!? Once the storms arrive, you have ZERO energy to even think straight. People forget pretty FAST just how HOT it was when the power went out. Just how much debris had to be cleaned up. Just how many SKEEEETERS were out feasting in the humid aftermath. And just how horribly tired you are looking at what needs to be done....after! 2024 could be a full out bust, or a full blown IRMA, IVAN, IAN 2.0 year. I'm not going to count of "hope not"!
Everytime we have a snowstorm in the forcast the grocery store is full of people. Winter comes every year folks. This winter I will be practising bread making. Sour dough specifically.
In the UK our parents and grabdparent knew real privation. Post war the UK was very poor, and also paid to feed the people in defeated nations. We had fuel rationing, and sone terrible winters. It shapes the culture. Plus the poverty we experienced as working class. Always have something put aside. How to make something to eat, where to find fuel. It's part of my dna now. How to keep your dignity. These things matter.
Thanks KT and I agree. I hope one day folks will see past the stigma of what preppers were labeled as by MSM and over dramatic TV shows and see it for what it truly is.
One point I'd like to make is that you're not on your own, there's neighbours and your surrounding community at the very least, humans have survived and thrived for millennia by working together.
Great point Peter! A strong community stands together in even the worst times. I have been surprised by human kindness that has been offered to me in some of the worst times. When I went through 3 hurricanes weeks apart back in 05 the small community that I was in stood together to help with food and other survival needs. We worked together and helped one another. Even folks I had never spoken to.
@@GreyManPrepping I was brought up in very remote outback Australian bush and we couldn't survive out there without neighbours working together, funny thing is people call it prepping to have a well stocked larder, food preserving, growing food etc but for me that's just life, it's how I was brought up.
Home made Baking Powder. 1/2 tsp Cream of Tartar. 1/4 tsp Baking Soda. 1/4 tsp Corn Starch. Equals one tsp of Baking Powder. It works great and all ingredients are shelf stable. Baking Powder does not store well long term. I know, I tried. It's pre-mixed and can not help but "work". Have a great one and good luck.
Great points to ponder and remind all to get in gear! Past few years supply interruptions have given insight into the value of having on hand what you need. Planning ahead, much like chocolate, IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA. 🍫 Thanks Grey Man!
Good luck with your preparations cuz 90% of Americans can't even tie their own shoes let alone peel some potatoes to freaking make some mashed potato....
Thanks for the video. I laugh at the "storm troopers" who clean out the pop and chips aisle when the storm approaches while leaving the rice and beans untouched. My "problem" Oops! I mean "opportunity" of course, is I don't know what I'm prepping for. I don't have a plan besides dealing with it s it comes in the best manner I can depending on the situation. Sure, I can "imagine" all kinds of situations and I doubt any of them are realistic or will happen. But for the one or three that do happen what ever they are, I'm prepped. I just went a year without internet in the house and let me tell you, ... "withdrawal" is a correct term even when you're prepared for it as I was. The convenience of googling a recipe or a medication for instance, let alone playing on here with you good folk. I laughed a bit when Rogers went down here in Canaduh. Imagine, millions instantly in withdrawal. And look, I can't tell a lie here. I've been inspired to get things done ever since I got the new internet. I'm canning, and reorganising the the very back and oldest part of my preps. What a job. Hauled out the oldest one gallon glass jar of pancake mix I have to rotate out and can't wait to open it. As all things with Baking Powder in it, I'll have to add a little to every batch because Baking Powder gets weak over time. I love hard copy. As for "survival", I prepare to die, it's more realistic than actually surviving. But until then, I'll eat well. Have a great one and good luck.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. All we can do is prepare and hope nothing major ever happens, but it's better to have than not have in any scenario. Have a great weekend. 😁👍
I use subtle hints, for instance I live in a hurricane prone area, and I ask folks hey did you get some supplies for this year, and then roll in the emergency preparedness conversation. So I asses who I'm speaking with and find something relative to spark the conversation.
I've learned from parents who were raised in the depression and through the world wars when rationing was happening. I have always put stuff up. Now it's more than food water and gas. Ty GreyMan
Funny you should mention that. Just a couple of days ago I was looking through some pictures with my 96 year old mother and in that box was the last ration book she got during the war. That took us to the stories I've mostly heard before, but that's okay. During the war while dad was in the Pacific, she worked 16 hour days. 8 at her regular job and 8 at the ammunition plant and did that for 2 years. Her childhood nightmares of like her best friend drowning because somebody took the boat they used to cross a creek to get to school. The community then built a log bridge across it and they always had a stick at the bridge to beat on the bridge so the water moccasins would slide off. Life was a little tougher back then.
Hi everyone, I hope you're having a blessed day.

I prep because of Michigan's winters. Ice roads, no power for a week or more.
Great to hear, love to hear from you community! Keep up the great work Angela 😁👍
Simple answer...I don't want to die. 😐
I Agree. Preparedness = a better chance at survival atleast in my opinion. Have a good evening.
Here in the UK 🇬🇧 I've always been a prepper, just something that has been with me since the 60s, must be my basic survival trait of the family.
That is great to hear. I look at being prepared is an insurance plan for when things go wrong. Be it just a little bit or a full on chaotic event.

Great and simple explanation GreyMan. There is a myth about preppers, wrong picture, which should be erased.
