I also have thick black out curtains on all windows so no one can see in if using lights. Oh yes! There are keystone meats. We don't have them at Walmarts where I live, but you can order them online. Also, Crider canned fully cooked ground pork. I've seen in grocery stores lately & can buy online. Tastes great. Also, Mormons are very big on Preparing...they Prep all the time for everything its just part of the culture. If you have any Mormon Churches where you live (they are all over the USA not just in Utah) you can get canned Beef, fully cooked, nothing added but a little salt, PLUS many other things. Cans come in 8oz and Number 10. You can buy from the Churches (Mormon=Church of Jesus Christ & the Latter Day Saints) or you can order from Utah. I have 8oz and the next size up. Tastes great...takes like just cooked when you warm it up. (People please forget about people's beliefs...we are all One People, they make good prepper products). They, of course, cost a lot more than they used to. I'm in the Midwest, northern, & we have One Mormon church in the area.
Oh, I thought of another source for meat for those who can afford it. (I don't have any). Farmers have started an online business for selling their meats (and I think other things...I forgot). I will look up their website and get back to you. (Thank you God for the Farmers...and we need to support them)
Good evening Grey and family....We love spam... spam original flavor, spam with cheese, spam bacon flavor, hickory smoked spam,... spam casserole it is delicious cooked many different ways 😋 I reached my goal of 18 months food preps and necessities today. I can take a well deserved rest and concentrate on soap, candles, and signs for a little while. Swamped with Christmas orders since it takes 4 weeks to cure the soap and 2 weeks to cure candles. PRAY, PREP, AND PRAISE GOD. GOD BLESS US ALL 🇺🇸.
My teenage son’s favorite soup is my spicy Italian sausage soup. I make small sausage meatballs, brown them and can them in pint jars. I also can celery and carrots. Makes a quick meal just open a can of sausage meatballs, throw in a cup of chopped onions, a can of celery and a can of carrots. Cook up come elbow noodles and a big pot of soup is ready in 20 minutes! I’ve also canned my own spam this spring. The canned sausage can also be used in spaghetti!
Instead of broths, we buy base. Beef, Chicken, or Ham base let's us make broth or just add extra flavor when rehydrating our freeze dried meats. Easy to find in bulk at most Amish country stores.
I am a canner, I pressure can my dry beans without seasoning so they are ready to eat from the jar. I buy canned diced ham from Wal Mart, open up the can add dehydrated onions and bell peppers to the ham an cook until the veggies are rehydrated then add beans and cook for a few minutes. Beans ready without using much water and in a fraction of the time of cooking from dry bean stage. Am new to your channel and enjoy your content. Glad I found you!
First, let me welcome you to the channel 😁👋 Thank you for the support 🙏 I am learning to can. Hopefully buy this spring I'll be confident in my skills, so I can my tomatoes 😁
Greetings from Mobile County, Alabama. Just wanted to share some information for dog owners. With dog food shortages, make a healthy meal for dogs that you can store in the 'fridge for over a week or freeze. Cook up some beef or chicken broth and add rice and simmer until rice is done. Then add peas or even carrots too. If you are fortunate enough to have meat, even vienna sausage; add to mix. This is the same ingredients that the expensive blends have
I sure got VALUE out of this content! thanks Gray! Shocked when you said canned rice. I thought you were bonkers! But when you showed the La Preferra Brand it hit me, I had see it! Don't forget canned bread, butter (red feather brand) and milk. My mil used to serve canned green beans and you would swear they were garden fresh. Her trick was to rinse the can flavor away by 10 rinses. TIP: canned tuna can be drained, squeezed of all liquid and then sauteed just as you would hamburger. Season like tacos, bbq, Italian etc. The secret is removing the fluid be it water or oil it is packed in and replacing that with a neutral oil and flavorful spice. I like stocking up with canned pumpkin. Savory lasagnes, desserts, breakfast-pancakes, oatmeal, coffee drinks, breads and sauces. Cakes, cookies etc. Quite versatile. PLUS it is food for pets.

My favorite way to eat Spam is Spam salad...made like I make tuna salad with mayo, boiled eggs, red or green onion, sweet pickle relish served on bread with a little lettuce. Simple and taste fresh but will keep in the frig a day or so....✌️💥😇🖖🇧🇯
Great video and fine list, Grey. I always told my kids that Spam is the choice of champions! Also, I seem to remember reading somewhere that fish eaten in moderation helped with Alzheimer's symptoms, so it's literally brain food.
I concur, I eat a lot of fish especially Tuna, Salmon, & Mackerel. Years ago my doc had shared with me an article about life longevity and that was part of the big puzzle.
Keystone brand canned ground beef phenominal. Walmart $6.28 28ounce can. Nothing in it but meat and some salt. Doesnt taste salty. Tastes great straight from can. I actually like it better than fresh beef.
Yep finding canned tuna in oil is hard to find now.... Ive noticed lately there has been recalls on all this canned pantry meats 🤔Wonder if its really an issue or false recall .. Thanks for sharing the info of what kinds of stuff to store
I just watched a survival guy channel (CORPORALS CORNER) and he said the bacon spam was disgusting. Im getting me a can of it this week, and trying it for myself with some eggs! Heck, if I like the original spam Im sure bacon would be another rung higher on the ladder of flavor, eh?? 👍
I just did a $10 dinner challenge using Prepper foods. Canned meat is awesome to have for prep or the nights when you want something quick or you forget to take the meat out! 😊👍
Yes I agree, Spam is great. Many uses! I can't find Dak Ham anymore locally. Would be great in a corn Chowder. I think you should do a shopping hull. Its always good to get ideas. Good video!
@@LeonaRiley266 Oh I wish we had one. None in Hawaii. Our food is crazy expensive. Best option is to buy bulk at Sam's club, the cheapest you get is Walmart.
Use the water/juice from can pineapple to make your rice. So yummy! Utilize the breadcrumbs from your bread ends to make fish patties with your can fish. Lots of depression era cooking hacks most people don’t use anymore. I don’t think I will be in service area tomorrow for the live. I will probably have to catch the replay. Post cards coming 😁

One of my favorites is canned Margaret Holmes Simple Suppers Jambalaya. Add diced canned ham or smoked sausage. Spam would be good in it too. I had to add a little extra seasoning but it's delicious. I get it at Walmart.
Ok, sticking with the can theme here. Soups are outstanding and a staple around here. But,,,I add some things. We keep boxes of minute rice on the shelves, just add a cup to a can of soup. Turns chicken noodle, beef vegi, or even bean with bacon into a more filling meal and boosts the energy value. Also look into big #10 cans of freeze dried soups from companies like Augason farms, Thrive Life, or Mountain House. Just add water and heat. For canned meats do not forget DAK canned hams (I know great value make them and Spam but the cans are thinner and pull tab seal suspect). Add them with beans for a more filling meal or slice em up and pan fry them in butter with dehydrated eggs for breakfast. Then there are Keystone meats (a couple others have mentioned them also) in 2 sizes. Normal sized cans roughly 1 pound meat, and #2 sized cans with roughly 1.75 pounds meat. They are pre cooked in the can with just a touch of sea salt and the broth and fat are still in the can. They have Ground beef, chunk beef, Turkey (white meat), Chicken, and Pulled pork. Great for stews or adding to beans and the like. The broth and fat are still in the can and add flavor and thickness to whatever you make. Last Hormel does not just make Corned beef in the can, they also make corn beef hash with potatoes added. Vegis are great but there is more then the corn/peas/green beans types. Get canned carrots or peas and carrot mix. Also canned potatoes sliced or whole are good to have. Then as he mentioned refried beans in cans are also useful. Have found cans of tomato powder on some web sites though, just add water to make juice/paste depending on how much you add. Will pass along a warning though, Pay careful attention to EXP dates on canned fruits and tomato based items. They are high acid and will chew through the can lining soon after. Have had cans of tomato paste build up pressure in the cans only 6 months after the Exp date and ooze out when opened. Needless to say they went into the mulch pile. This includes Chef Boy Ardee, tomato soups, or spag sauce jars. Last when getting cans look for ones requiring a can opener. Pull top are easier but it has been my experience the seal breaks when banged around because the lid is weaker. Always use up dented cans ASAP if you find them and pay attention to bulging cans or a hiss OUT when opened as that can be a sign of spoilage.
@@GreyManPrepping , speaking of spaghetti, LOL, after listening to Ice Age Farmer, due to the fertilizer policing due to shortages (grains), I suggest shelf stable pastas for the next stocking up for anyone getting started. I purchased a can each of the stew, potted meat and stew to try. Glad I didn't get flats. My little mutt is quite spoiled by my cooking and even he wouldn't eat them! 😂
Although the SpaghettiOs Type of canned pasta is not my favorite, I started to stock a bunch of them for when the grandchildren come over. This will also give them some type of comfort food if things get a little crazy. They will be used to eating it.
Someone said to put a piece of raw potato in with a salty can of something when you heat it and the potato will absorb some of the salt. I don't know if this is true?
It does work to add potatoes to draw salt. Cut in halves or quarters to get surface area. The starch will help to mellow the salt and also absorb it. Granny taught us that too. If it’s still too salty, add a bit of your homemade vinegar ( cause you’re making your own now 😉). The acid helps with the salty taste. You can also add citrus juice if it’s available, the acid is what helps.
When you bring your canned goods home, inspect them again to make sure they haven't gotten dinged or dented on the way home. It seems like I always have at least one can of soup that doesn't make it home from the store without getting dented.
Don't forget oily fish in cans. Don't know what's available in the USA but here in the UK, as well as the usual tuna and salmon, we have mackerel, herrings, sardines, skippers (sometimes known as brisling), sardines, unsalted anchovies, kippers, slid (baby herring), soft herring roe, etc. All of those contain excellent sources of beneficial oils, fats and protein and (with the exception of herring roe) can be eaten straight from the can.
@@GreyManPrepping I love the soft herring roes. I fry them gently in a little butter and then have them on toast with a very sparing sprinkle of vinegar. They don't need more than 5 minutes to cook and provide a very healthy hit of protein and oils. Delicious!
Toast, sounds interesting, I remember years ago we had fried spam & cheese on Ritz crackers while we were camping. I figured I'd have a few folks scratching thier heads over the canned rice 😆👍
I usually send my husband to grab canned fruit,,tell him to get all he can ! one lady asked him if he wanted another 100 cans and he said not today !LOL
BEER. Think about it. You can cook with it. Condiment packets - mustard, ketchup, bbq sauce, soy and a lot more to fit your taste. No worry about open bottles spoiling. (Yellow mustard has medicinal value.) 8 oz cans of tomato sauce. Mix tuna or chicken with bbq sauce. Better than mayo. Stock up on spices. I never thought about canned rice but how about canned pasta? Dry foods are great if you have water and heat to prepare them.
Canned boneless skinless salmon, chicken, turkey/beef, albacore tuna, canned fruits in 100% juice (can drink the juice or use in recipes), canned potatoes, green beans, all beans, soups of all various types, broth all kinds but prefer dry packets broth powders to save space , evaporated creamer replaces most milk/dairy needs.

Hello GreyMan, I subscribed yesterday with your live stream, but it wouldn't let me write you a note. I've seen your videos before because AP/Rudy talks about you sometimes, but I signed up now. Your live stream was great!!!! I am very interested in Prepping information because too many channels have switched entirely to News. I've been prepping for a long time, but some of us need more time & to learn more because prepping takes a long time when your income is low (and no, social sec increase does Not cover the increases in expenses). I do have a coleman stove & propane in the small containers (I can't lift the big ones anyway). And someone in the comments pointed out you don't need a lot of water to wash dishes....just rinse &dry.....just like when you go camping...as we did when I was a child. I'm looking forward to your videos & several already arrived into my feed today so I can watch those now. Also, you look happy which is very heartening! (there is so much bad, sad news, but we have to remain upbeat....that is part of Prepping.) And, of course, we must face Reality in order to prepare correctly.

That's awesome Sharlan! I have a few cans of Italian wedding soup, I think I could incorporate some of your ideas in that as well. 😁

With dog food shortages, make a healthy meal for dogs that you can store in the 'fridge for over a week or freeze. Cook up some beef or chicken broth and add rice and simmer until rice is done. TIP: canned tuna can be drained, squeezed of all liquid and then sauteed just as you would hamburger. Season like tacos, bbq, Italian etc. The secret is removing the fluid be it water or oil it is packed in and replacing that with a neutral oil and flavorful spice.

Awesome, I'll definitely give that a try. Thanks for sharing Sheri 👍😁
Great info and thanks for sharing and your absolutely right acidic foods do eat threw commercial cans.
Thanks for the info. Can potatoes. can green bean w/ potato
I throw a can of chicken in with cream of chicken soup.
I think if I added some veggies I could possibly make a pot pie out of it 😁
LIKES; spam, tuna, salmon, oysters, sardines, clams, mackerel, chicken, beef in broth, corned beef, beef hash, beans, potatoes, vegetables, fruits, canned rice and beans, chicken and dumplings, chicken ala king, pasta sauce, tomato paste, soup, ham, sausage gravy, tamales, and gravies.
DISLIKES; Canned stew, chili, potted meat and Vienna sausages.

@@GreyManPrepping , speaking of spaghetti, LOL, after listening to Ice Age Farmer, due to the fertilizer policing due to shortages (grains), I suggest shelf stable pastas for the next stocking up for anyone getting started.

Someone said to put a piece of raw potato in with a salty can of something when you heat it and the potato will absorb some of the salt. I don't know if this is true?
Interesting, I'll have to experiment a bit 👍
It definitely is true!
I eat canned corn right out of the can. On peas and garbanzo beans, I add vinegar, a little olive oil, and pepper. It's delicious. Even as a snack.
Sounds like a phenomenal snacks 👍I use garbanzo beans in my salads
When you bring your canned goods home, inspect them again to make sure they haven't gotten dinged or dented on the way home. It seems like I always have at least one can of soup that doesn't make it home from the store without getting dented.
Great suggestion Kelly 👍 Thank you
Don't forget oily fish in cans.
Great suggestions, snowy river. Love Sardines & mackerel. I never thought about roe. Much appreciated 👍
@@GreyManPrepping I love the soft herring roes. I fry them gently in a little butter and then have them on toast with a very sparing sprinkle of vinegar. They don't need more than 5 minutes to cook and provide a very healthy hit of protein and oils. Delicious!
