- Here I'm comparing two superb mice for large handed gamers. The Roccat Kone XP Air and the Logitech G502 X Plus. These are both awesome wireless mice with plenty of interesting features that include wireless capabilities, RGB lighting, masses of programmable buttons and more besides. Be sure to watch my full in-depth reviews to find out more about each and to see the software highlights, but here I'm showing the things I like most about each.

Roccat Kone XP Air:
This is a fantastic gaming mouse with some awesome features:
Refined ergonomic KONE shape
Multi-button design and 4D wheel with 29 programmable inputs (15 buttons)
Gaming-grade 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth dual connectivity
Included RGB Rapid Charge Dock
Up to 100 hours of battery life
3D RGB AIMO lighting with 5 programable zones
ROCCAT® Owl-Eye 19K dpi optical sensor
Titan Switch Optical for a tactile feel with optical speed
Lightweight and flexible PhantomFlex™ USB-C charging cable
Heat-treated pure PTFE glides, pre-tuned for smooth movements
Highlights for me include superb comfort and an excellent ergonomic design. It has a large build and fits brilliantly in the hand. The optical switches ensure there'll be no issues with double clicking or debounce delay. But the best highlights are the fact it packs both 15 buttons and a secondary layer with Easy-Shift meaning you can program 29 actions. It has onboard profiles you can assign to games and much more.
Throw in a fast-charging dock and you've got a convenient mouse that's easy to use and basically never needs plugging in.

I had both the 502 X and the Kone XP and stuck with the Roccat - The Logitech was brilliant in nearly every way except the one I couldn't live with any longer...the scroll wheel. The free spinning is fine but when you're using the stop, it feels awful. Gritty, rough and it just didn't feel good. The Kone XP in comparison feels great in every way and the shift button I remapped to lower the DPI and it feels so much more natural to use than ANY other sniper button on a gaming mouse. I am upgrading to the XP air next.
please tell me how u feel with the xp air... im also happy with the kone xp and upgraded to the air, but the air version feels sooo cheap i sended it back.. please tell me how it was for u :)
@@derpfletschi6953 I ended up sticking with the XP so I cannot speak to the air, sorry.
Better just to bind the easy shift button on the roccat to some other function. It's awkward to use as a shift button.
Thank you for doing this comparison! 🙏👍
My pleasure!
I was going for the Roccat, big fan of the old Kone wired mouses from a decade ago. HOWEVER, I work a lot in 3D and CAD software, and that infinite silent mouse wheel is what gives it the edge. Thank you for this comparison! Roccat imho is a better choice over everything Razer or Attack Shark, but I rarely see them featured in those comparison videos sadly.
Update: got the G502X and I love it! The infinite wheel however is absolutely useless for work. I whished there was an in-between or a manual regulator like the Razor counterpart has, especially because when locked, the wheel is quite loud. It's also super precise and comfortable, so I deal with it.
Button placement is also a hell lot better imho. Even the the two side button on the left click are far away enough to not get into the way, while still being reachable. I feared the price to pay was the actual main left click to be way too narrow, but it's perfectly sized after all.
Same goes for the thumb button by the by. Battery life is brilliant, the USB-C port is accessible enough and the programmable shortcuts + macros are a game changer. Hell! Now that I got used to them, I wished I had two more. One extra thumb down lever maybe and two center buttons behind the wheel - place the wheel locker in front, you won't change it anyway. Maybe for the next version!
As a bonus, the sound based led effect on it is pretty neat!^^
Nice comparison. GJ 👍
Thanks!
Every damn time I catch one of your videos, I am blown away by the quality difference compared to others
That's very kind, thank you.
I love listen to your voice, I have now watched this video like 4 times as I keep just getting distracted by your voice :)
Sorry about that but thanks for the engagement
I love that mother of pearl sheen on the Roccat. I'm usually pretty ambivalent towards white peripheries but that really is beautiful.
Not sure if you noticed later but it's actually just a transparent white plastic with the RGB element shining through. There's no pearl or metallic sheen, it's just a regular semi-gloss plastic finish. Still a beautiful design though!
I bought the Roccat Air in September and i love the design and feel but it broke within 2 months. Even within the 2 months i had many times happen that the mouse became extremely slow in moving (the cursor), and the only way to fix this was turning off the mouse, put it on the charger and put it back on. It also did not charge to 100%, only 80% and it was back to 40% within 2 hours. Never will i buy another one of this brand.
Purchased both and returned the 502. The kone xp air is superior in design and features imo.
How did the sensor compare between the 2?
@@S2GUnit I honestly couldn't tell the difference between them. Both felt good enough imo.
I bought the roccat xp air a few months ago. I stopped using it lmao. The build of the mouse is great. The software is always breaking something. When I bought the mouse, I turned RGB off cause I dont use it. With a update, it made it so the RGB came on when it charged which is kinda annoying when youre trying to sleep. It also wont charge unless its turned on- either with a cable or the dock. It just doesnt charge when its turned off. Their software also takes forever to update the mouse, if it even does at all. It failed a few times so you have to completely uninstall it and try again. I wont be buying another of their products. Too expensive for those stupid kind of issues.
I do it like with any mouse software: install it, configure it, save everything on the mouse, close it, remove it from autostart, never deal with it again.
Facts! Compared to Logitech, roccats software is more user friendly
I am kind of in a dilemma, there aren't really a lot of good looking mice for MMORPG tbh. These are the only 2 good looking white mice but Roccat's extra buttons is nice but the Logitech G502 x wired is 100 bucks cheaper and I don't really care for wireless since I've been using wired mice my whole life. Currently have the G502 Hero which needs replacement soon. Can't really decide if 2 extra buttons is worth it.
I didn't have the Logitech, but I had the Razer Basilisk v3 and sent it back in favor of the roccat kone xp air. The roccats shape is just much nicer, and wireless with the included charging dock is a very nice upgrade for me personally, as someone who has also only used wired mice before.
Also, the thumb button is just plain better than on logitech or razer mice.
Not sure if the roccat is worth the extra 100$, but maybe consider the wired version (just Kone XP, without the air)
Roccat is awesome. Customisability and feel in hand is great. I came from a g604 before this and it was an easy transition.
However. Mine has a slight problem with he scroll wheel, it sometimes scrolls up/down when being pressed in, which accidentally changes weapons when trying to mark an enemy.
So I actually just replaced my Roccat for an issue with the scroll wheel I have 2 Kone XP airs one for work and one for Home the work one worked fine and the home one the scroll wheel after about 3 months stopped registering scrolling or scrolled the wrong direction
Definitely if this problem continues contact roccat (it took them a month to get me a replacement from December 15th till January 15th) so do it if you notice it getting worse sooner rather than later as my mice were bought within days of each other
Try WD-40, it helped a lot of people with this issue
I like the new G502, but it is way too pricey and I don't know why they didn't put rgb on the wired version. Only the X Plus has rgb.. I love Roccat design, but I don't like their switches.
Pal just buy the cable version of the g502!! It's only 40-50 $. You can't get a better price with this kind of quality
I have both mice but Logitech feels more premium compared to roccat, which feels cheap. I guess heavy mice is my preference.
roccat has too many buttons so they had to cheapen on material feel else the price would skyrocket i guess
How did sensors compare on the 2 mice?
@@S2GUnit they felt the same, which is good.
@@ppsarrakisits more for the lightness of the mouse they focus on that a lot. I agree it feels cheap however. I personally prefer the logitech cause i like heavier mouses
