    Good work!

    Great video - I have been teaching myself to tint on my car and my large curved rear window is a fail everytime. But I have been wet shrinking your dry soap method looks good & I'll give it a try.

    I'm about to tint the rear hatch on my C30. I've tinted my previous 4 cars, but never tried shrinking to fit the curvature before (most had flat rear windows like a pickup truck). Super useful video, thanks!

    Tinting is very intimidating. But here's the thing, Its all about trial and error. These guys weren't born with the knowledge of installing tint. Nothing in this life is ever easy. It takes practice , more practice and finally more practice. But in the end if you stick to it and you have the determination you will succeed.. That's really all it is to accomplishing things in life. Sorry for the sermon but that's how life works. Now go for it!!!!!!!

    Really just an alternative method, but does allow you to shrink larger areas of film more evenly. Helpful on very curvy glass or thinner films like the 3M Carbon film used in the demo.

    Good luck

    Hello, I work for a dealership tinting. I need tipa for the rear window. I get the shrinking process its just when I get the tint inside these dry like fingers pop of from the corners and I can't seem to get them to stay down. My guess is because when I heat shrink minor creases keep it from staying down. Any suggestions?

    Very interesting, first bit of tint video ive seen that ive watched all the way through
    Looks like we do things very much alike as i also use the exact same 2 squeeges
    Im also not interested in a pissing contest to see how quick it can be done but how perfect
    Out of interest, what benefit could this provide over wet (only ever bothered with wet in 20 + years). Is it any easier on harder windows or simply a different method

  • @ultratintsouthport
    @ultratintsouthport  11 років тому

    Yes, The film shrinking is done with the release liner (backing sheet) still on, and facing out towards you.

    Why did you use the glove one side? Why did you use the H method and what does that do on the outside preparation?

    • @aaronward5265
      @aaronward5265 6 років тому +2

      robby mccormick was showing two different techniques of shrinking the tint, glover over heat vs rubber scraper. The h pattern helps you work the ripples out more effective. And you do it on the outside first to give the film the contour of the glass easier vs doing all that inside the car there are more obstructions.

      +jw200 just keep it moving. Don't get too terribly close.. No you won't hurt your window or door/paint but it's possible to burn the tint film so be careful.

    When I bought a brand new 2006 Honda Civic Coupe, the dealer threw in a free tint job. They did such a bad. Had three 1/16 inch bubbles near the corner and a couple of dust particles. The biggest problem was that the corner of the rear window started to peel off after a couple of months and a 4 inch razor cut on my rear seat. If I wouldn't have noticed the rear window tint peeling, I would of never went to the back seat and found the cut in my seat.

    I remember the first time I attempted to tint my car windows in the early 80's.....didn't go so well....I did this outdoors on a prettly windy day and with cheap tint....I'm sure you could imagine the terrible result....I now leave this to the experienced!

  • @ultratintsouthport
    @ultratintsouthport  11 років тому +2

    Creases are definitely not good. But it could also mean that you aren't fully shrinking the film on the outside first. Make sure your two side edges are sitting flat on the outside of the window while shrinking and only shrink towards the top and bottom. After you're done, run some heat over the entire top and bottom edge. If you haven't shrunk it properly, this will cause a few more to pop up. Get rid of those and you should be good to go. ~ UT

    • @darrennott6991
      @darrennott6991 7 років тому +1

      Some film will shrink easier than other mirror tint has more metal in it and will not stretch as easy also make sure you shrink against the grain of the fil or it won't shrink at all
      Usually the grain runs along the length of the roll so the factory cut edge is where u need the shrink top and bottom

    @Hezbollah Hamas It goes on the inside once its going to be finally installed, you place it on the outside to trim the film to size. It would be dumb to install the film on the outsize since it'll get ruined by the weather elements.

    just an option, wet a dryer sheet and smear the fabric softener thats in the sheet over the back window. it dries fast, you need very little, and heating is a dream. increases speed of heating without any checks or creases. plus easy clean up unlike powder. heating back windows wet is just insane. takes way too long. and white/gold cards are the way to go. good vid though. cheers
