That metal strap with the holes in it is what you are supposed attach to the factory mount. It is a pain in the tail though as you have to make a couple of 90 degree bends in it and even then i was only able to get one screw in but it held. Came here for the wiring diagram as mine didn’t have one, so thanks for that!
+E Lee Kaiser Just be careful as the OEM units usually fail at the 20 year mark. The teeth on the plastic spooler drum that drives the antenna up and down wear out and causes the antenna to not fully raise or lower. I purchased an OEM antenna mast for 50 bucks and installed it only to have it work for 3 months until the spooler drum failed. Unfortunately I cannot find any replacement drums and was forced to buy this aftermarket unit
+vcamnowaa gotchu. I believe that's what's happening on my '96. When I turn off the car I can hear the motor working as if to lower the antenna but the antenna doesn't move. So the motor is working! So the problem isn't the mast but a thing called the spooler drum? (I'm assuming that raises and lowers the mast)
+E Lee Kaiser I posted a picture of what the spooler drum looks like, on the cadillac forums but found it on google you can see there is a groove in the middle of the teeth www.google.ca/search?sa=G&hl=en-CA&tbm=isch&tbs=simg:CAQSjAEaiQELEKjU2AQaAggCDAsQsIynCBpiCmAIAxIorxXyDLMPqQTKCu0M-Az1DMsKpQ2VNpY2mDaXNps2gjWTNYk-izqTJBow2josqFch4wbVKjoTg1a0gQpokSUFtwb8zwQhh7xOcm0K7tPAQMcPQG8wXNZB2I-jIAMMCxCOrv4IGgoKCAgBEgSHYaA7DA&ved=0ahUKEwjaxeTFluDLAhWHvoMKHQ_1AQwQwg4IGSgA&biw=1440&bih=775#imgrc=35GrfM0U9CFM2M%3A
+E Lee Kaiser That's because I didn't tighten the bolt enough on the top, after driving around the bolt came undone and started to let water in. I re tighten the bolt and added Zip ties to keep the unit from wiggling itself loose, I've been wanting to post an update to the forum but it won't let me post an update.
So i was installing a power antenna today and it was all going well until i cut the original wires to the car and my entire radio quit working. Any idea's on what happened?
Did you disconnect the battery? Failing to do so may have caused a fuse to blow. While you snipped the wires Check the fuse panel on the drivers side part of the dash on the template it should have a fuse labeled stereo or radio. Check to see if there is a break in the fuse. You can also try disconnecting the battery first let it sit for a few minutes and hook it back up to see if the radio works
vcamnowaa when I click on the website that you linked for me and I chose the model of the fleetwood (mine is a 1995 as well), There were 3 options to choose from which did you select?
As long as you have every wire connected to the aftermarket stereo it should work. Whenever you turn the stereo on it sends a pulse one of the wires on the stereo to trigger the relay on the antenna to switch on and raises the mast when the stereo is turned off or ignition is off another pulse is sent to the relay on the antenna telling the relay to lower the mast

That clear tube is your water drain tube. You need to run that from the drain port at the bottom of the antenna assembly to outside the car.
Thats the drain tube!!! Lmao!! 🤣🤣
Yeah someone already said that like 4yrs ago....
Thanks for the great advice and it certainly will be used.
how did you addapt attaching the antenna wire that goes to the back of the radio ?
Nice. Need a new antenna for the roadmaster and was looking at aftermarket. After watching this vid I may go with an oem.

Do you have any recommended links to where I can purchase a power antenna like yours?
