What are your thoughts on using spray primer vs paint on base coats? Im just getting into mini painting and the spray cans are quite a bit more expensive. I also dont have a dedicated spot in my flat for spraying so id have to go outside every time. Not sure if its worth it with those downsides ...
I think you need a primer, especially on these PVC minis. you can use airbrush primers for cheap or find a cheap hardware store synthetic spray paint (does not have to be an actual primer). in Slovakia and czech republic probably best value/price are matt Primalex sprays, I use them all the time, especially the black one

If you are starting out, i would recommend buying some starter set with basic collors (you can mix almost any color if you have the base colors - black, white, red yellow blue) I'd go with something like this: www.amazon.de/dp/B009162PWU/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=vallejo+basic+farbset&qid=1577876826&sr=8-1 ..and then some metallics - I like scale 75 metallics best

@@Brothersindice My mistake i meant paint on primer not base coat. Could i get away with using primer i could brush on the mini instead of spraying?
yeah, should be OK to brush on the primer,
I have not done that though in a very very long time since spay / airbrush saves so much time.

Actually they did look good before the weathering. After the weathering, they look as if I painted them :)
