Appreciate it sir! I think that’s the part of flying a cub that I miss the most - there’s a special connection you get with those that flew before us when you fly one!
I love the guy who answers "up" when asked where he's going. That's literally been my exact answer for nearly two decades whenever I run into people at the airport before a flight. So many people want to know where you're going, where your destination is… Many don't realize that for a lot of us who truly love flying, just getting off the ground we have already reached our destination!!
Thank you for letting me relive this amazing event. My father and Steve Krog learned to fly together in college at SDSU. When this happened it was my second summer at HXF being taught to fly by Steve Krog at Cub Air Flight (I worked in the office when we weren't flying). It was a hell of a time for a 16-17 year old. You can catch a brief glimpse of me at 3:40, I'm the one center frame in hi-vis and sunglasses. At 10:43 and 16:26 you can see Dave who took my father (who had been diagnosed with Parkinsons shortly before my mother found out she was pregnant with me) up on the last private fligt of his life in a beautiful Cub. I genuinely had no idea this film existed until now. I congratulate all those who took part in its production and thank you all for reminding me and letting me relive 2 summers of my childhood, along with a lifetime of knowledge thatbI use to this day.
I learned to fly back in 1969 when I was 15 years old in a J3 Cub. It was later pretty much completely destroyed by a tornado but they rebuilt it and it's still on the registry to this day.
Wow, an incredible film about one of my all-time favorite airplanes. I usually find music annoying, wanting to hear the airplanes, but the score is so perfect on this, and the engine sounds come through beautifully along with it. Congratulations on a great job!
Thank you so much for this comment Russ - I'm really glad you enjoyed the film. It's the 11 year anniversary of me getting my pilot certificate in a Cub today, so seeing your comment has special meaning. It was a truly amazing few days that I don't think I'll ever forget.
Hahah yeah, if there's one thing 'old-timers' know how to do, it's make a perfect pancake (on one of those cool rotating pancake things). Thanks for watching!
I can't believe I sat here watching J3s take off for that long AND LOVED EVERY MINUTE! Wish I could own one but I'm a little large so it's a J4 if I can find one I can afford
I live just over a minute from HXF, just went to Steve's hanger yesterday and will be scheduling my flight in one of his J3's this coming week. Didn't think I could get more excited until I saw this video, very nicely made.
Steve gave me my first ride in a cub @ MDS I was hooked. I spent years volunteering at antique and classic and now I have a J3 and a erocoop I’m looking forward to next year.
I have genuinely learnt something watching this excellent film. I had no idea there was a J3P and what a beautiful aircraft it is! I loved the reverse black and yellow paintscheme on the fuselage.
Question for Rick Miller. What years were you with piper aircraft ? Jake Miller Walter Jamouneau. Ted Weld. Willam Shriver maybe. I believer you may be to young for these guys ! My Dad worked on the PA-15 design team, then quit, Tough place to work ! Thanks for the Great show
I have never flown a " pure" cub, but have many hours in a Super Cub and many hours in a clipped wing cub. In fact the clipped wing was owned early on by the Cole brothers airshow (called Little Bit), later by Bill Barber. It was Bill's aeroplane when I flew it out of Ann Arbor (ARB).
Awesome video! I am very interested in Cubs, the only uncertainty is the weight capacity, two people and you have no room for fuel unless you go overweight
Really well done !!! I enjoyed every minute of this. I hope it gets a million views because it deserves it. I would have paid for content like this. Thank you !!
You must be an old guy like me. Thats old school. Stick in your gut. There is a better way. Carry a little speed & a touch of foward stick at touchdown. Much better rudder control, all points of the landing work cleaner. Hard to put into words. Many years ago I struggled To ease the stick foward however it does work.
Now I need a cub...well, I always have, but dangit..I'm really running out of kidneys to sell for planes....If you ever make it to PA I'll meet you at the museum!
I feel like it was about an hour? I remember feeling like it happened REALLY quickly, and that it took longer to get everyone unparked and into the lines.
@@SuperAero what's the number? Can't be that hard? I'm nit picking but dang such a great story but the ambient sounds of the cubs are drowned out? Nothing personal.
Nice man! Evokes the romance of flight. Makes we wanna hop in a cub.

@@SuperAero This video deserves more views. I can tell you put some love into this one. Gotta love that YT algorithm.
@@Wolficorntv Thanks man! I appreciate that. I think the views will come!

Thank you for a wonderful video. I got my private license in a J-3 in 1956. I have everlasting memories of that ole' bird.Keep 'em flyin'
Thanks so much for your comment and for watching! I STILL dream Piper Cub Dreams even though it’s been almost a decade since I flew one last.
22:30 That is the most satisfying, perfect looking pancake ever.
Oh yeah, great doc! Always wanted a J3.

Beautiful, my heart ❤️ feels happy. I love aviation. Piper Cubs are the reason.
God bless America long live the republic
So glad you liked it!
Good job. Fun film to watch.
Thanks for watching!
This is soooo very nice. People who love their airplane wanting to share that joy with others!!!
One of my best memories of aviation was a ride in a Cub J3. I wish I was at the fly-in in this video 🛩
LOVE THOSE CUBS!
That was reeeeeeally SUPER!!!!! I am one of the daughters of a cub flyer back in 1941. :-)
Thanks so much Lynn! Appreciate your note and so great that you have family history of flying cubs!
Awasome doc.. Your best video yet
Thanks Dan! Really appreciate it. Might be time to revisit some tail dragging!
Low and slow. That is what I want to do. Thanks for putting this up.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
This is absolutely SUPER ! 😃
Piper Cubs RULE !
Love ❤️ the Music - Just Right.
TY very much !

Love the J-3. Fun to fly with the doors open! Noisy? So what! NH
A good set of ear plugs OR a noise cancelling headset and you are GOOD TO GO!

That's awesome! You'll love training in the cub!
I’ll watch this a 100 times, love it
Thank you for the kind words Mark!

That's awesome! Vintage is the best!
a very nice video THANKS
Thank YOU for watching!
This video always makes me want to jump in a Cub!
I have genuinely learnt something watching this excellent film. I had no idea there was a J3P and what a beautiful aircraft it is! I loved the reverse black and yellow paintscheme on the fuselage.
Thanks for watching! Yeah! That reverse black and yellow scheme is amazing - I think if I ever restored a Cub I'd do it in that scheme.
Wow, great video! Makes me want to buy a cub!
Thanks for watching! It's one of the best deals in aviation for sure!
"There are no airplanes you could fly with door open" ... Boeing 737 be like: hold that thought ...
😬
Excellent job Ryan! Brought back a lot of great memories. Thanks for putting this together! Bravo!
Thanks Joe! I agree LOTS of great memories in there. I need to get up to HXF to tell some tall tales soon!
Hey! Robin and Lee!!
Absolutely awesome!
Thanks for watching! Glad you liked it!
Awesome, Ryan! I really enjoyed watching this and learning some more about Cubs. Looks like this was a really fun few days!
Thanks man! Yeah it was a fun few days for sure! AND I got to hang out the side of a helicopter too! Cubs are the best!

Many happy hours without the doors, free as a bird....

Depends on the size of the people!!!!! 😆
And THANKS FOR WATCHING!
It is still the most loved plane for the RC Pilot, like me! I have a 1/4 Sig Piper Cub.
Truly enduring!!! Love RC Cubs!
1/4 scale is horrible Not even close to scale much to fast. Try a 1/3 scale with a lite 85 best cub by far. Makes a great tow plane
I have a 1/4 scale pilot j3 os Gemini 120
Hanger9 super cub with 30cc twin
And a shock cub by seagull with dle 40cc twin just love the flying style
Fan tas tic ! so nice to see...
Glad you liked it!
Great video!
Thanks!

Wonderful! 👍

I want a Piper J4 so bad. I’m a bigger guy so a J3, which I truly love, is just a bit small for me. Beautiful video
J4 is awesome. Thanks for watching!
I love this
🙌🙌🙌
Great video.... thanks for sharing...
Thanks for watching!
That was totally awesome! Does anybody three-point/full stall anymore? I don't think I saw one on the whole thing.
Thanks so much! Yeah - wheel landings for style points I guess!

My best friend's Grandpa has a grass here filled and he has two of these Cubs one's the 4-cylinder the other is a six and they both are airworthy
Now I need a cub...well, I always have, but dangit..I'm really running out of kidneys to sell for planes....If you ever make it to PA I'll meet you at the museum!
Hahah me too! And yeah, it’d be be awesome to check the museum out - probably worth a flight out there!
A Hoot an’ a Half!
Thanks!
How do J3 Cubs fly the Fisk arrival? Can they even do 90 knots?
No they cannot, 90 is not a requirement. The notam states slower aircraft use maximum cruise speed.
Do they do this every year if so i’m in
Not every year - but I think they came back for the 80th? Currently the weekend before OSH there is a STOL competition at HXF.
How long did it take until all the cubs took off? 45 minutes? Hour?
I feel like it was about an hour? I remember feeling like it happened REALLY quickly, and that it took longer to get everyone unparked and into the lines.
Harry Mutter When you say all cubs were built in lock haven, are you sure ? What about Bradford & the E-2 ? 1931
Shouldn't this be taking place in Lock Haven Pennsylvania? Just sayin
That’s a very different flight than from HVK
Steve … your knees and hips shouldn’t take a Carrier Yellow Shirt drop down to Launch .
Music kills the whole video, over the top, banal, re edit please.
I’d be happy to re-edit it if you can provide the funds. 😂 Sorry it wasn’t to your taste. Thanks for watching!
